LOL! Pants aren't cut for a big belly either!! I always have a minimum of 6" extra fabric around my butt  droopy drawers

Sorry you're going through that - it doesn't sound like much fun. My advice would be to limit time spent with her. Clearly she is going to put you down for all the things you are eating or your weight etc. Definitely never hang out with her when it requires eating. I think you should possibly re-evaluate your friendship.…

I think the people who use this excuse either use it because a) they don't really want to eat better or b) they honestly believe the prepared foods in the store that say "diet" on them are truly eating "healthier" (and we know are more expensive and leave us hungry). There are a lot of misconceptions about healthy eating,…

My opinion: just eat the biscuits and gravy you love so much!! Just don't have them 3x/week  Make that your once a month treat to yourself (find out the calorie count and cut it to a reasonable, YET SATISFYING portion). If you go over your calories that day, so be it. If you know you're apt to go hog wild when you…

I used to use "glide" when I worked out. You can buy it at a sporting goods store.

Making a complete lifestyle change can make weight come off slower just because you are doing it a way that you will be able to live with forever instead of starving yourself to lose weight. Get more water and get rid of that 1 diet coke a day!! Sugar substitutes do not help with weight loss at all. Start eliminating…

I can't give you a specific routine but I can offer some advice! Make sure you are incorporating strength training into your workouts and not just cardio. Also, you will want to lose weight slowly - you need to give your skin some time to catch up with your shrinking body. Good luck

Yeah unfortunately it's just chafing. I curb it by wearing the longer length Spanx. I have narrow hips so even when I was thin this was still a problem - so don't worry, it's not just a "fat person" thing

I have Type 2 diabetes but I get low blood sugar (occasionally now, but used to be multiple times a day when I was younger) and I am a complete and total *kitten* when that happens!! I sweat and get the shakes and lash out at EVERYONE! The only thing I can think about is getting food in my tummy. Honestly when I went super…

Awesome! You look fabulous :-) Keep up the great work.

My mother has the same problem....with coffee! She can't cut it completely because she gets migraines but she weaned herself down to 1 cup per day. Just try cutting down even one glass a day (exchange it for water, tea, etc) for a week and then another the next, you might just need to wean yourself off it. Good luck!

^^ THIS and they might get annoyed enough to just double book you somewhere :-) It sounds like you've had a hell of an ordeal so I'm sorry they're putting this on you now. Find a new OB/GYN and call your oncologist. Good luck!!

It's nice to see a fun post without anger and bashing!! :-) Everyone welcomes opinions and advice, no one likes to be told their ideas are dumb! Cute pictures of kitties help :-)

Keep up the good work! You have support on here regardless :-) I agree with you, I would avoid the surgery if at all possible! I don't knock anyone who has had it, because I know it's not an easy decision, but doing it this way certainly seems better if you can. Good for you for not letting your husband hold you back! Good…

My fiance won't diet with me....I can barely get him to eat a veggie! lol He's supportive of my journey but he doesn't know what healthy eating is (and unfortunately the primary cook in the house) he's learning, but it's slow!! I know he doesn't do it intentionally but manages to try to sabotage me at every turn. Luckily…

What an inspiration! Fabulous job - you are doing great! I too had to start using a walker in November 2009 (neurological problems). Unfortunately mine is still kicking around but I try to exercise as often as possible. I know what it's like to take 25 mins to go 0.25 miles: I had the pleasure of it taking me longer than…

I didn't read all the posts so sorry if I'm repeating....I go almond. Soy is found in EVERYTHING you eat that's processed. Just like eating high fructose corn syrup is bad (because it's made from corn and everything processed you eat is made with corn). I've read quite a few articles on soy and like one poster said, they…

Go on freecycle.org and sign up - everything is free and you can ask for exercise equipment, videos, etc. If all else fails, canned goods, laundry detergent, etc make great hand weights!

I am the same way. Honestly when I was in grad school I went through something similar. I was feeling tired, gained weight, was feeling de-motivated, etc, etc. I went to the doctor thinking something was wrong - he sent me to the school psychiatrist initially to get pills (the psychiatrist and I decided it wasn't pills I…

beans, beans, beans! I make my own hummus (it's super simple) and use it as a dip for veggies. I make a brocolli, cannellini bean and cheese soup (14oz chix (you could use vegetable) broth and 1C water brought to a boil, add 1lb chopped broccoli and cook 8 mins; add 1 can cannellini beans and salt and pepper to taste and…

^^ THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU have to love you first! You are a beautiful woman recognize that. Therapy would certainly help, but even the following simple step can be a start: Don't focus on your "fat" legs. Pick one feature you DO love about yourself and look in the mirror everyday and say to yourself "I love my ____"…

I agree with the above posters - make small changes. It will really make things a lot easier for you and you won't be so tempted to just give up because you "failed" if you make one mistake! Start by just logging what you eat regularly even, this will open your eyes to what you are putting in your body then strive to add a…

Well you could just invest in a set like 3lb, 5lb and 8lb to start. It will really be up to you to determine which size weight you use (and you're going to have to use different weights for different exercises)! You want to be able to lift the weight till exhaustion. For example, if you are doing 12 bicep curls, the last 2…

Okay so I have tried eating oatmeal soooooooo many times and I haven't been able to do it, however, I finally found a delicious way of eating it and I hope others will like it too :-) I got this recipe off the happy herbivore blog but modified a little. I use Quaker 1-minute oats and make it drier than the package…

There are 2 groups: those who LOVE to run and those who HATE it! Luckily I fall into the love category. I have become very sick in the last few years and I'm no longer able to run and I long for the days when I can (hopefully) do it again! I'm not sure how to make yourself love it, but I do know when I first started out it…

I spent my first week on here going over my food allowance almost everyday (don't let that "Joined August 2010" fool you -- I didn't really start until the middle of December 2011  ). I went through Christmas and went over my allotted calories Christmas Eve and Christmas and then again New Years' Eve.....and look at…

I agree with the above posters - some people don't say anything for assorted reasons (implying you needed to lose it in the firstplace, workplace harrassment, etc.) Honestly I NEVER notice when someone has lost weight and I feel horrible about it because they did work hard to do it. On the plus side, I also NEVER notice…

I agree with everyone on here who has said start with one thing. I find that as I start doing one thing right, the other things fell into place! I started by adding more veggies into my diet - I didn't change anything else (I had already cut out soda and juice long ago). Then I just started journaling. Once you write it…

Eat more!!!!!!! I don't know how often you are exercising but you are starving yourself! Strive for the happy medium

I had a craving for nachos which when I get them are loaded with melted cheese and sour cream and guac. So instead, I made homemade chips (using 2 soft white corn tacos) and ate it with some guacamole. I think that was a pretty darn good substitution I made
