  • Yeah the machine I have looks intimidating (and probably is the least intimidating of all!!!). I am just one of those people who gets stupid nervous over dumb things lol. Yeah, I had planned to half recipes, but the few I did see ended up with super weird measurements if you quartered them, ya know? Now do you use the…
  • Hey, since you have responded to this post twice and broke your routine, I think you get to log it as exercise!!! lol PS love the profile pic - huge Pats fan here
  • I'm not saying this is a 1:1 ratio. Of course there are some major differences between the "olden days" and modern times - my point is exercise is not just structured activity. All activity burns some calories. Are you going to look like a supermodel by "mopping 30 mins" everyday exclusively? For 99.9% of us the answer is…
  • I've always wondered if you could keep the juice after you make it - some of the recipes call for enough for 4 servings and no one else in my house is going to drink it!! Whenever I've made fruit smoothies I've found I have to drink them right away or they start to turn on me and go sour. I'll be sure to invest in a good…
  • Wow! Fabulous suggestions Woozle and bhall  They definitely help!
  • Thanks Lea! I'm a bit nervous about the celery myself....I'm really not a fan but it's definitely worth a shot. The kale one sounds fabulous! I make kale "chips" all the time and love them. We'll see how this goes.
  • It's not irrelevant. People didn't do these activities for "exercise" they did them to survive which is my point!!! Walking and running (not so much swimming) were part of people's chores and lives. They didn't go for an after dinner walk to burn a few extra calories.
  • I LOVE this! It is so me. Before I had my health issues I was a runner - if I wasn't running it wasn't exercise. It didn't matter what the heck I was doing; and it had to be at LEAST 4 miles or it wasn't even a run. What?!? lol My perspective on the word exercise has certainly changed. Just getting off the couch is now…
  • lol! sounds delicious! Yeah, I think I'm worried about green juice the most....I'm going to check out the above sites to get some recipes
  • ^^ agreed. I have neurological problems. Chores are NOT a daily part of my life. So, when I do them, I log them. But, if I cleaned my bathroom everyday, I probably wouldn't log it.
  • ^^Totally agree. If you have your settings set to high levels of activity, then maybe putting away your dishes wouldn't be something you would log. On the other hand, if you have a disability, and putting away dishes is difficult for you then maybe this IS something you should log. I just don't understand when people have…
  • It's not part of my daily routine. I know a lot of other people who don't strenuously scrub their floors on their hands and knees daily but they will log it if they do it. My levels are set to sedentary because I SIT almost all day long - so if I do clean, it's outside of my daily routine of sitting. Once again....our…
  • First off congrats on your weight loss - that is absolutely awesome! I will definitely check her out! I hate to just google "juicing". You just never know what kinds of sites will pop up. I would rather go with recipes/sites people have checked out first. Thanks for the suggestion - it's going on the list
  • lol sounds good! I do love ginger but yeah, a little goes a looooonnnngggg way. Thanks Scott!!
  • Thanks asugar that does sound delicious  Glad I can get someone to get their juicer back out! I've had mine sitting in the closet for several months now. I got it knowing I wanted to supplement with juices but the whole thing just looks scary to use - so it's just been sitting there. This past doctor's appointment…
  • Thanks for the suggestion. Why I don't think of the library I don't know! lol!! I use to work in one....duh
  • Anyone?!?
  • So I read this right after you posted and I went to the Dollar Store yesterday and grabbed a coloring book, crayons and a big book of puzzles :-) I've also decided to add sewing, playing the Wii, and exercising (when I'm able) to the list. I ABSOLUTELY can't add tv to the list, that tends to cause the binge or drive it or…
  • ^^totally true. I'm a person that logs when I snarf down an entire bag of Smartfood. Do I do that daily? No but that being said, I still log it (unlike many people on the site) because it holds me accountable. I try the hardest I can to eat mostly whole foods but I didn't get to be as heavy as I am by eating nothing but…
  • I don't know what your diet looks like, but once I cut out the processed foods and started eating tons of veggies, my acne cleared within a month. I also use all natural Devita skin products. They can be pretty pricey but if you get them on vitacost.com you can get them for a discount. I've never had super bad acne, but…

  • above suggestions plus rice cakes for pb&j. I love rice cakes - I've eaten them as snacks since I was little
  • You don't have to follow exactly what MFP states - you are allowed to change your settings so that you can do low carb. I ALWAYS forget how to change the settings so I may not be the best person to ask how to do that if you don't know already (I think it's under 'goals' but I'm always searching a half hour before I find…
  • People should be commended for committing to a better lifestyle whether they have 10lbs to lose or 300!. No matter where you fall along that scale, 43 pounds is AWESOME!!!!! I'm in total agreement, ditch your doctor and get someone who can appreciate that many of us have struggles with food and weight loss. It's all about…
  • "Meat substitutes" are still made of processed crap no matter how you look at them. Do I eat them on occasion? Sure, but to live off them....you're better off eating real grass fed, organic meat.
  • This. However, that being said, I don't eat meat daily. Although I think there's no reason NOT to eat it, I also don't think there's a reason to go crazy eating it for 21 meals a week. It's bad for the planet and not too good for your health. Edit: during our evolution we didn't eat it super often so we shouldn't be eating…
  • Where do you get something like this done?
  • unsweetened vanilla almond milk! I still drink cow's milk when that's what's available. I avoid soy because unfermented soy products produce hormone mimics and pretty much any processed food you find contains soy in some form or another!
  • For me, counting carbs worked best for losing weight (I lost 60 lbs following that) however, in the long run, I am unable to maintain a low carb lifestyle. I  carbs!!!!!! Now, I'm trying counting calories and see where that gets me!! Good luck on your paper :-)
  • thanks for this tip!!
