  • During the week I exercise at night too, and generally don't eat my exercise calories either. (at least not all of them.) I have a lot of weight to take off, and MFP gives me a pretty substantial calorie limit, which means it hasn't been a problem so far. I think the important thing is to pay attention to your body - how…
  • Generally I try to only weigh in once a week - on Tuesday mornings. The reason for that is because I have gotten obsessive in the past where I weighed in multiple times a day - and that's no good. Our bodies naturally fluctuate, but its easy to feel down or upset when the scale goes up a bit over the course of the day.…
  • I got really bad headaches when I first tried to quit Diet Coke. After about a week of a solid - almost migraine headaches I caved and went back to drinking it. I finally got successful when I weaned myself off it. I started with reducing the number of cans I drank in a day till it was down to 1 can. Then I switched to the…
  • I noticed your diary is closed. If you open it for people to look at, we might be able to give some better advice on what to do so you can see results faster. Please don't give up. You can do this, and you deserve it.
  • Wow. Very powerful blog. And so true.... thanks for sharing. :flowerforyou:
  • Your body weight fluctuates throughout the day. Its normal for it to be heavier in the evening then in the morning. Differences before and after eating, or working out. That's why many experts say only weigh in once a week - because you are looking for an overall trend, its not something that's totally exact. It could be…
  • I usually water-saute a bunch of veggies - onions, celery and carrots usually in water with herbs, and once they are all softened, I add that to a canned soup. in general I add about 2-3 cups of veggies and water to a single can of soup. It helps stretch it out and its tastes way better then just plain canned soup. I like…
  • Firstly, you've been through a lot recently, and so its only fair to be kind to yourself because of that. But now that you are pulling out of the crisis and illness its a good opportunity to get refocused on your goals for your weightloss. I had a look at your diet, so if what I am seeing is accurate to how you are eating,…
  • If it was me, I would call the restaurant and ask them questions about their recipe and how its prepared to help you better figure out how to track it. Also, don't be afraid to ask for nutritional information when you're trying to decide what to order at a restaurant, you'd be surprised how many places have that readily…
  • I've read a lot of articles where they've linked extra weight with fertility issues. I also know lots of overweight women who haven't had any trouble. That being said, I'm in a similar boat as you, and am focussing on getting healthy instead of obsessing about not conceiving. Depending on how much you have to take off,…
  • Way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are such an inspiration!!!!!!!
  • For me, I'm keeping away from things I don't care that much about - eg wine, rolls, etc. But I love a turkey dinner, so I will have it, and I will enjoy it. But I plan on having smaller portions then I might have when I wasn't watching what I am eating. Also the rest of the day will be mostly fruit and veggies with lean…
  • that's awesome! way to go!!!!!
  • I have a good friend who followed Dr. Bernstein's diet - she lost A LOT hair, and then towards the end before she quit - she actually lost feeling in parts of her hands. Since she quit about 4 years ago, she's gained the weight back, but her hair has never recovered. It used to be thick and gorgeous, now its very thin,…
  • That's great! way to go!
  • I dropped about 4 clothing sizes a few years ago and tried to get a seamstress to adjust my expensive stuff too. She said it wouldn't look good if it had to be taken in more then 1 size worth at the waist. I had her do it anyway, and she was was right - it didn't look good but it did buy me a bit of time until I had to get…
  • Honestly I was surprised by the "eat this instead" section. That food while it may appear "healthier" then the first option, still has WAY too many calories, fat, sugar and sodium for my liking. In some cases its half of what you should have in a day! - that's not healthy for one meal. But I think you make a really good…
  • I have the same problem. So my plan so far is to skip on all the stuff I don't much care about - wine, and appetizers. I'm also going to skip the extra sauces, and have lots of veggies. Gravy wil be strategic for maximum flavour enjoyment but minimum calories. Oh, and most importantly I"m intending to get in lots of extra…
  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You look amazing!!!!!! Way to go!!!!!!
  • I went to the dollar store and went to the sewing section. I got 3 for a buck that have cm on one side and inches on the other. Not sure that I will ever need 3 but you never know as the cat does like to chase the ends as I try to measure myself. Its quite an adventure and should qualify as cardio.
  • I think about how bad I felt before I started taking weight off. I was tired all the time, I didn't sleep well, my feet hurt all the time. I couldn't do stuff I wanted to. etc etc. And then I think about how I never ever want to be back in that place again. Ever. I also don't consider myself on a diet. I've made a…
  • I just started carrying 6 pounds (3 pounds each) But I do the arm motions - eg shoulders to over head, chest out -etc. I plan to move up to more. But I just started and I'm huffing a lot more even with these....
  • I drove the route I usually walk with my car and marked the mileage that way. Then I know the distance and just adjust accordingly each night based on how long it takes me. I also use hiking trails that are premarked with how far, and the same thing - I calculate base on how long it took me to complete it.
  • There's a place like that that just opened up near my work. Its all organic live food. (if you want their website - feel free to email me) i haven't been yet, as its rather expensive - which is to be expected when its all fresh food instead of frozen processed food. But also, I haven't gone because even though its…
  • This is what my doctor recommended to me. I've been doing it about 45 days, and have taken off 22 pounds and 13.5 inches so far. Plus I never feel hungry and have found it pretty easy to follow. Eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Don't go more than 4 hours without eating. At every meal have 50% veggies, 25% carbs,…
  • That's a great article - thanks for sharing. :drinker:
  • My husband and I each had exercise bikes when we met and got married. Now they are both in front of the TV, along with an abcruncher and some hand weights. So now there's no excuse for us to skip exercising on account of tv. :) (Side note: I've used the bike more in the last 3 weeks then I have in the last 3 years!)
  • Processed food tends to be high in sugar, fat and salt. So I eat alot of fresh fruit and veggies. (mostly veggies). For recipe ideas I would recommend checking out different diabetic websites. Most of those recipes are low carb low sugar low fat. Plus they usually include a breakdown of what its worth nutritionally. - you…
