As far as calories go, I look at each day as a new beginning, and I don't think you can eat the day before calories, or save up for a day in the future. But that's just my belief. I've taken off 21 pounds in the last 5 weeks. This is how I did it.... I followed recommendations from my doctor only. I don't bother with any…

I haven't gotten there myself yet, but I used to go to WW meetings, and had a great leader who had lost over 100 pounds. She looked fabulous and never had surgery to deal with her skin. She advised people to use moisturizer every day all over. And after the shower, only gently pat yourself dry instead of rubbing. She felt…

That's amazing!!!!!! thanks for sharing.

I plan to give myself a reward every 10lbs, with a couple of big things when I'm all finished. At 10lbs losts, I bought myself a new lipstick and eyeshadow. At 20lbs, I'm buying fancy new measuring spoons. (I had a set but they broke a couple of weeks ago) Not sure what I will do for 30, but I enjoy planning something…

I've almost completely cut out all that stuff as well. I feel sooo much better too. A LOT more energy, almost no headaches, and I'm liking how food tastes naturally. Now when i do have something with sweeteners in it - its tastes awful - too sickly sweet. So I'm especially happy with that change as it will help me maintain…

So I hit the 5 week mark today and I'm within 2 pounds of the projection. I'm pretty happy with that. I like the 5 week projection as it helps me keep focused on the bigger picture. :)

Hi ya! I hope you like it here. I've been here about 5 weeks now, and so far its going great. Most people seem really nice and supportive.

You're going to hear lots of conflicting opinions on here. And lets face it, most of these people are strangers with the same struggles as you. You have no idea their qualifications or knowledge, so you are better off talking to your doctor or a certified dietician to get help. Best wishes on your journey.

This is good advice. The only thing I would add, is after being here 5 weeks, I've noticed that there are LOTS of differing opinions on weightloss. Cheat/don't cheat. Eat your calories/don't eat your calories. Shakeology/HCG/Bernsteins/WeightWatchers/Jenny Craig. etc etc etc. EVERYONE has an opinion, but its…

Interesting. Thanks for sharing. :)

When I'm hungry I take that as a sign that I need to eat. So I eat something - usually fresh veggies or fruit. For most veggies you can have about 2 cups worth for under 100 calories, and I personally find it very filling. Plus I drink a lot of water. I find that helpful too. I've only been here about 5 weeks or so, but so…

My husband and I go in the evening after dinner. And I take of any opportunties that come along during the day as well. I especially make it a point to get in extra exercise on my days off work. So far its working for us. :)

I once did a 42 km walkathon and thanks to advice from a specialty running room, I didn't get any blisters. (other people had worn toenails off - ouch!) This is what they recommended to me: - Make sure you have good fitting shoes. many proper shoe stores know how to check properly to make sure the shoes are fitting…

I'm following a program that was recommended by my doctor. I've been here for just a bit over 30 days, and so far have lost 19lbs, so I am excited about the progress. She recommends: 50% veggies at every meal, 25% carbs, 25% lean protein. Plus snacks of fruit. She recommends not going more than 4-5 hours without something…

Hi Molly! Welcome! I've been here 30 days and have lost 18 pounds so far. I'm finding it really helpful and informative with the calorie/carb/fat/protein info. I weigh and record every single thing I eat, and my exercise, and I'm seeing results already. MFP has been a life saver for me. Good luck with your weight loss…

Wow, I am definitely going to try that. I can't have dairy, so that's a nice alternative. Thanks for sharing. :)

Here's one of my favourites: Wash them and cut them up into bite sized pieces. Put them in a bowl. Add some diced onions (about 1 yellow onion for every 4 large potatos). Add 1-2 tbsp of italian dressing (or olive oil, or balsamic dressing - whatever oil based dressing you like.) Add garlic powder, and any other herbs you…

Thanks for sharing. This is very motivating and inspiring.

I weigh myself on tuesdays, but that's only because I started on a tuesday. I generally don't step on the scale more then that because I could easily become someone who weighs in 5 times a day. Since what the scale says affects my moods - up a pound = cranky, down a pound = happy, I decided its better to only do it once a…

WOW!!!!! That's amazing!!!!!! You go girl!!!!

that's fantastic!!! Way to go. :)

That's amazing! I recently started too. (about 20 days ago) and have already found some changes too. Doesn't it feel so good?? One thing you may want to consider, is taking your measurements now, and again when you weigh in next. (or sooner if you like) I've found it really encouraging and motivating to see some inches…

Thanks everyone. I haven't been on MFP a whole month yet, so I wanted a heads up if I should expect any changes or not - I don't like surprises in that department. :)
-
That's great!!!!

thanks everybody. If it works out the same for me - I'm going to be very happy. I LOVE the calendar idea. I'm going to do that too. :)
-
Thanks everyone. I guess we will see what happens on the scale next week. :)

I don't know if this would be helpful or not. But maybe when you cook you could cook up double or triple sized portions and freeze the leftovers in individual sized tupperware or zipplock baggies. That way in the future you could just pull them out and heat them up. Kinda like frozen dinners except you'll know how to count…

Thanks for all the great ideas. :)
