  • It's been so awesome seeing everyone announce their baby's birth and seeing all the adorable new little baby faces! Last time I posted was the night I went into labor. My contractions picked up as my husband was cooking dinner. So, I was eating ribeye steak, baked potato, and salad between contractions. I called the doctor…
  • Just got back from the doctor. I'm 100% effaced and still 1-2 cm dilated with the scar tissue really being the only thing there. We scheduled my induction for next Tuesday, 01/13 (night, so she will probably be born Wednesday, 01/14). I talked to her about my concerns and she agreed that they are legitimate and why we…
  • It has been so quiet! I know a couple mommies are already holding their babies-congrats to you! I had very mild contractions last night for about 4 hours. They were 10-12 minutes apart for about 2.5 hours then about 8 min apart for 1.5 hours. I fell asleep and woke up a couple of times feeling some pain, but obviously no…
  • The one thing that I've found to work (now at 38 weeks) is dandelion root tea. If I go a couple days without it, the cankles and club feet come back. Start drinking 2-3 cups a day, and they're back to normal within 48 hours.
  • I'm all better now, must've had a 24 hour bug. I rarely ever get sick like that. I'm 37+3 today and had an appt this morning. No change-still 1cm dilated and about 80% effaced. She did say she could feel baby's head engaged in the pelvis, so that's good. Any time now... She said if it comes down to it and the scar tissue…
  • Still feeling awful. Flu like symptoms with no fever. Feeling some contractions followed by intense nausea. Can't eat.
  • That's awesome you got your cleaning list done. I cross one thing off and add two... If I brought her home today, I'd be totally fine. The things on my list aren't really necessary. I had no appetite today and started feeling really queasy after dinner and still feel like crap. This is the way I feel when I'm about to…
  • Hope everyone had a nice Christmas. I had my 36 week checkup on Tuesday. She checked my cervix and said there's no way I'll make it to my due date of January 18th. I had a LEEP done back in 2007, which shortened my already short cervix. We discovered the shortness back at 20 weeks. She said I'm only 1cm dilated but I'm 80%…
  • Hey everybody, happy Sunday! I'm 36 weeks today! I'm thinking about and sending positive vibes to Alex and cocolo. Hope you're both hanging in there. <3 Today I did a deep clean on the nursery, dusted, cleaned the window, swept, mopped, etc and tightened up the bolts on all the furniture. My mom had mentioned when we were…
  • I am so so sorry to hear this, I'm just heartbroken for you. :( it sound like this was unexpected? Either way, it's never easy. I can't imagine what you're going through. I wish there was something I could say or do to help. Is there no one that would come stay with you for a while? Even if they miss the funeral, I'm sure…
  • I can't believe it's finally here... my last day at work (basically - I have to make a cameo appearance on the 29th). I'm so happy and thankful to be able to stay home with the baby. It's what I've always wanted to do, and honestly, I don't think I would be a good employee or as good of a mom if I had to work. I truly…
  • She's been very active since Sunday. Right now I can feel a limb in my right side, I can push on it and she pushes back. So cool. I feel like I've really ballooned up the past few days. Ughhh
  • You really are a trooper-so upbeat! Glad you're home. Get lots of rest! 35 weeks today! I spent a lot of time in the nursery today. :) I'm using the bassinet my sister had for my niece 9 years ago, so I took it apart and washed everything. I also have a gently used pack n play I wiped down, and I sorted through and washed…
  • I hope they all fall off a cliff.
  • Sooo I go to walmart today for super Kotex for after delivery. I'm standing there for a while trying to decide what to buy, and I hear some teenage boys messing around and asking random people for help finding random items. So, they come up to me as I'm looking at all the pads and they say, "excuse me ma'am, do you know…
  • The only thing I still need to buy is a swing. I've had all the nursery furniture put together since early August LOL. Oh, I also need to buy a pack of newborn diapers! I only have 8 work days left, so I will start final preparations the week of Christmas. My sister cleans houses as a side job, and she's coming on the 19th…
  • With your daughter, was there any indication that you would go early? Any reasoning behind it, or did it just happen naturally? I made quite a list of things I want to bring with me to the hospital. I got some it of it packed, still working on it. I actually had to order a pack of newborn onesies because I only had ONE…
  • How's everyone doing? I'm 34 weeks today! I have actually felt pretty good since Friday. I took a 3 hour nap after work on Thursday and apparently it took the edge off of my tiredness. I stayed up later than normal on Friday but slept in til 11 yesterday! I got our spare bedroom cleaned up and got rid of some things I'd…
  • Have you done any stretching to try to help your back pain? I stretch every night and am amazed every night by how much better I feel afterward. Here's what I do: Stand tall with feet slightly apart. Lift arms above your head and clasp your hands together, then turn them palms facing up. Hold this stretch. From there,…
  • As I mentioned in my reply above... I'm uncomfortable. :\ Even while I was sleeping last night I kept complaining in my head and thinking there's no way I'm going to work after Christmas. My plan was for my last day to be 12/19, using up my 2015 vacation at the first of the year. But, my boss, who doesn't yet know I'm not…
  • I'm open to different feeding methods too. I really want to BF because I know "it's best". However, my mom is a believer in bottle babies, and neither of my sisters could get the hang of BFing. So, I won't get any advice from them. My mom swears formula fed babies are much happier because you know exactly what and how much…
  • First time I was sure was 19 weeks. I felt 2 little pokes from the inside like nothing I'd felt before. I felt light, random flutters after that (felt like muscle twitches) and wasn't 100% sure it was baby until I had an extra ultrasound (vaginal) and I could see the baby flinching and felt what I had been feeling and was…
  • Really, people acted funny? I registered at 2 stores when I got married too. I thought a lot of people registered at at least 2 places. Hmm. I hate shopping, so I buy online a LOT. I much prefer to sit in my pjs on my couch and search for what I want, get all kinds of options, and read reviews to see what's the best buy.…
  • I would start by asking what she likes better about the one she picked out. There may be something about it you hadn't thought about and may actually prefer. Keeping that in mind, I would probably just leave the original one on my registry, and if someone happens to buy that, compare the 2 after you receive them and decide…
  • Everything I've read about RRL has been positive. Yes, I've seen that RRL tea is great for increasing lactation. Also, I've seen that peppermint or spearmint can reduce lactation (I like mint tea so I'll have to keep that in mind!). The brand of tea I'm drinking now has a variety of different teas for different stages:…
  • From what I've read (just simple google searches, I'm no researcher), thorough testing of herbal teas during pregnancy has not been done, so they can't say for certain whether they are completely safe or not. However, generally, most retail teas can be considered safe in moderation. I have some wariness toward teas that…
  • That's encouraging! I love hot tea especially in the colder months, so in googling "teas safe during pregnancy", I came across this. I'm also drinking dandelion tea because I've used it before as a mild diuretic. Of course I'm going to verify with my doctor tomorrow that these are ok for me.
  • I read the first few sentences and totally agreed with you already. I wouldn't care if they thought I was being selfish. First of all, theres nothing wrong with being selfish sometimes, especially when people don't have enough sense to be considerate in the first place. My mom is pretty overbearing and even she will give…
  • I'm tired too. I actually got some sleep last night though. Today I'm going to give myself a pedicure, take a bath to shave my legs (quite the task), prenatal yoga, and a professional massage. Hubby's going to hang with friends all day so I'm looking forward to quiet time treating myself. :) I'm also looking forward to…
  • I haven't been crossing my legs. I actually started using an exercise ball in place of my desk chair in my first tri to break that habit. When I do use a desk chair, I prop my feet up on a stool under my desk. Now I'm to the point where I can't really cross my legs and be comfortable if I tried. :#
