I'm due Jan 9 with my second, a boy this time, and my daughter is 3.5yo. I'm at 29w3d and I've basically gained all the weight I wanted to gain with this pregnancy. I'm hovering between 35-40lbs already and freakin' hating it. I'm trying to make healthy choices and stay as active as possible but I feel like I just can't keep this freight train under control. I mean, I'm tallish, 5'9'', but still, I'm having total failure feelings for being up so much already. I gained like, 60lbs with my first, so I'm still on track to gain less this time around, but it still sucks. I can't wait to have this darn baby and get back to running and regular workouts. It's so much harder to keep things in check when you have an excuse to eat more and do less!
I'd also basically stopped logging for a long time and I'm sure that's played a part. I've got my goals set to maintain this weight for the duration and I'm hoping that by getting back to faithful logging I can keep it to another 5lbs or so by L&D day.
My daughter is 3 1/2 too & I'm having a boy as well! I've already gained 24lbs & will probably gain over 40lbs with this baby. I gained 34 with my first.
Nice to know I'm not alone, haha!

Hi Mamas!
Who else is due in January 2015? My due date is Jan 25th and I am having a boy! How do you all feel so far? How's the weight gain going?
I am due 29JAN and I am also having a boy! I started out at 128 lbs (5'2) and am up to 143. I was feeling great all through the 2nd trimester until last week fatigue set in again. Not as bad as the 1st trimester, but pretty heavy. How is everyone else doing?0 -

I definitely don't want that happening again! Another concern is the holidays. I'm thinking of having the shower either the third or fourth week in November because in December it gets crazy. I'm due January 29th & the baby could come anytime in January so I don't want to have the shower after New Years.
I'm due 01/18 and my first shower is this coming Sunday 11/02. My main shower will be 11/15. I wanted to have mine early simply because I always feel bad when I go to a baby shower and the mom is so big and miserable and can't enjoy the day, and I didn't want to be that way.

Hey, I'm the same as you! 5'2, due 27 of January, and started at 128lbs and an at the moment hovering between 143 and 145. Luckily I'm still feeling pretty good energy wise, though definitely not as much as I had about 2-3 weeks ago. There have been a few days that I've been tempted to take a nap, but I've pushed through. There's far too much work to do before baby arrives to rest now!

Hahaha. I nap just about everyday! And did even before I got pregnant! No wonder my 3.5 year old still naps!
I'm feeling pretty good. Been walking more. Ate way too much Halloween candy! No nausea here, but very achy back! Aches sitting down, standing up, laying down.
I really wanted to do my baby shower in Nov, but no time! Planning my first was much easier time wise even though I delivered a few days before it was scheduled!0 -
Well, ladies, I just got the results from my glucose tolerance test today and am well in the clear! Thank goodness, I was worried I had to give up my daily chocolate and ice cream!
As this is week 28 for me, my OB has said she'd like to start seeing me every 2 weeks. We have no rapport and I have been doing well except for some exercise-exacerbated pelvic pain. I think it may be associated with cycling, which may mean giving up my weekly spin classes and maybe even my daily bicycle commute. Does anyone else get pelvic pain particularly after certain activities? I gave up running 8 weeks ago because of it...0 -

I never heard anything back about my glucose test so I assume I'm in the clear. My next appointment is on Monday, I'll be 30W+1 and I'll start going every 2 weeks.
That's awesome you're still spinning and commuting on bike. I've had major pelvic pain that feels like my groin muscles are extremely tight no matter how much I stretch. The only exercise I've been doing is the occasional walk on the treadmill and prenatal yoga, plus more stretching to try to relieve the groin pain.
I haven't had a good night's sleep in over 2 weeks, even over the weekend. This morning I'm wondering if I will ever sleep or poop again.

Oh that sounds rough Because the spinning has given me pain, I've decided to see a pelvic specialist physiotherapist tomorrow and get some feedback on which exercises I can continue and which to avoid so I don't cause long term problems. Have you seen any specialists for your pain? I find my OB absolutely useless in this respect, so I'm branching out to look for more guidance elsewhere!

I find that if I overdo it on any activity, even walking, then my groin/pelvic area hurts alot... kind of like a painful pressure.0

I haven't seen any specialists. If I were in your shoes, and exercising like you are, I would ask for more guidance, but I assume for me it's just a normal part of pregnancy, a lot of weight and pressure directly over an area that isn't used to it.

How are you all feeling?? I had my 3-hour glocose test this morning. I really hope it comes back negative!0
-
I feel tired. All the time.
I also always feel full =\0 -
I'm tired too. I actually got some sleep last night though. Today I'm going to give myself a pedicure, take a bath to shave my legs (quite the task), prenatal yoga, and a professional massage. Hubby's going to hang with friends all day so I'm looking forward to quiet time treating myself.
I'm also looking forward to getting the tea I ordered on amazon. Anyone ever tried Third trimester tea? It's red raspberry leaf and a few other things.0 -
Exercise wise, all I'm doing now is walking. I'm 28 weeks & see the OB on the 18th. I took the 1 hr glucose test, hopefully it comes back normal because I love my sweets! I've been having round ligament pains & pelvic pain since 16-18 weeks. Probably due to carrying my kiddo on my hip all the time! Starting to feel anxious about delivery! Just 12 weeks to go!0

I drank red raspberry leaf tea with my last pregnancy. I have a super super fast labor ( was 8.5cm when I arrived at the hospital!) no tears or a slight one, they said it was so small but they put a small stich just in case lol. My uterus shrunk down really fast after delivery as wrll. I was impressed, not sure if it was because of the tea or not, but Im definitely going to start drinking it this pregnancy as well. I want to start tomorrow (32weeks now)

That's encouraging! I love hot tea especially in the colder months, so in googling "teas safe during pregnancy", I came across this. I'm also drinking dandelion tea because I've used it before as a mild diuretic. Of course I'm going to verify with my doctor tomorrow that these are ok for me.

Why would any teas be unsafe during pregnancy? As a researcher, I just went and reviewed scientific studies on red raspberry leaves and birth and am convinced that certainly no harm can come of it, though it seems a rather high dose is required. Maybe lots of the tea or take in tablet form.

From what I've read (just simple google searches, I'm no researcher), thorough testing of herbal teas during pregnancy has not been done, so they can't say for certain whether they are completely safe or not. However, generally, most retail teas can be considered safe in moderation.
I have some wariness toward teas that claim to be safe, natural remedies, that stems from my previous use of Senna Tea to alleviate bloating and constipation. After some time using Senna Tea, I was no longer able to have a BM. At all. It was 6 months of pure hell trying to figure out what was wrong with my stomach, and after months of testing, including a colonoscopy, I was diagnosed with IBS-C, which really means they couldn't find anything wrong. It was never proven that the Senna Tea caused my issues, but one specialist certainly blamed it, and I will never touch the stuff again.
I haven't had a chance to read the link you posted, but I will. Thanks for the info!

Yikes! That is really scarey that a tea can potentially do that to you! I have heard that raspberry leaves can help bring in your milk too. Do you think that could be true?0

Ooh, I haven't heard of that before but now I'm excited to try it. I love my tea and I was getting paranoid about drinking the wrong kind of herb or something accidentally. Thanks!

Morning, girls!
I'm at 31w5d, and let me tell you, I am READY for this kid to be out of me. I can't get a full night's sleep because of hip pain and randomly waking up between 230-3am every night. (Prepping for overnight feedings? Oh body, you sneaky *kitten*...) This little boy is already sitting really low on me so all my pelvic muscles and joints are hurting. Oi.
I'm trying to stay as active as I can even though that often means just taking the stairs during my commute, hitting my Breeze daily step count at a minimum (it's an awesome free app, check it out!), and a couple of times a week doing either my prenatal pilates dvd or just some light weights at home. But I still feel like a giant fat cow and I just want to get back to being able to eat less and go running and stuff.
My OB put me on a modified version of the GD diet, even though I don't have GD, in order to help keep the weight gain in check. She's the doc and everything, and she's been really great so far and I trust her, but I swear I feel like I'm eating SO much food. I'm already at the top end of the weight gain spectrum for my height, etc., so I'd love to just hold steady until January. She swears that following this eating plan will help me do that, and maybe even lose a few pounds.
It just sucks feeling this big, not feeling comfortable in clothes any more, etc. Really messes with your head, you know?0 -

Everything I've read about RRL has been positive. Yes, I've seen that RRL tea is great for increasing lactation. Also, I've seen that peppermint or spearmint can reduce lactation (I like mint tea so I'll have to keep that in mind!). The brand of tea I'm drinking now has a variety of different teas for different stages:
Morning Wellness (I assume helps with nausea)
Heartburn
Peaceful Mama
Third Trimester (What I'm sipping now)
Milkmaid (to increase supply)
No More Milk (to dry you up I guess!)

Well, I am now going on 30 weeks and have just started pregnancy/birth/parent education classes at my hospital. So far the class has been very slow and I've not really learned anything new. Actually, that's not true, I did learn that an epidural is not just a simple, single injection, but involves inserting some sort of line that maintains a consistent drip of the drug into your spine. How did I not know that before?
It was encouraging to hear about the typical experiences of the women who birth at the hospital I'm attending, though, and I'm starting to feel much less scared and much more confident for the day. Still nowhere near ready for a baby in my house, though!
Has anyone else gone through such classes? Any great insight or advice to impart?0 -
I took parenting classes before the baby was born. I think they helped a bit. I had a good support group after I had my daughter, like who to go to when I needed help with breastfeeding, etc. so I think the classes were worth it in that aspect.0

My due date is January 16th. I'm still feeling pretty good and walking an average of 5km per day or longer. I have a very active dog, so she keeps me going.
My pregnancy has been pretty easy and I still have it pretty good at this point. However, my sleep has been disturbed and I'm super constipated. I've increased my fibre and it seems to help.
Does anyone else feel ill if they eat too late? If I eat past 7pm, I have an upset stomach ALL night. This started about two weeks ago. Anyhow, I simply eat dinner before 7pm and I seem to be ok.
I've gained about 20lbs at 32 weeks. I'm hoping I'll stay between 25 and 30lbs. I'm 5'7".0 -
I feel just the opposite! I have to eat something right before I go to bed or my stomach grumbles. I will typically snack on something around 8 or 9. I'm 30 weeks & have gained 30lbs. Probably due to my late night snacking0
-
can you ladies believe how close we are getting to January?! Some of us will start having our babies in 6 weeks (or less)!0
-
since being diognosed with GD I have changed my diet a lot. I immediately lost 5-7lbs but that has slowed down, as has my gain! I was up ~20-22 lbs and now I am up 14lbs. The diabetic nutritionist told me this morning that I actually cut back too much on the carbs and I need to add a little back into my diet. This balancing act can be hard! But my little man growing inside of me is the ultimate motivation to get this stuff figured out. I really hope I can keep it under control with diet and not have to go on insulin, but we'll see.0
-
alex, eat when you're hungry. You're body is telling you in needs energy. For some reason, I've been doing this throughout my pregnancy and it seems to work. I didn't gain any weight between my last two OB appointments, but she didn't seem concerned. My measurements are still right on target.
xelor, sounds like you're doing well. Yes, we are almost there. I finally got the baby room all setup. My aunt bought me a pack-n-play and I think we are going to use that for the baby to sleep in. My husband's parents offered to buy a crib, but it seems like people only keep them for a year. If they want to buy their grandchild a nice bedroom set, we can wait until he/she is older and can get something that will last years and year.0 -
How is everyone going? My latest anxieties were over nursing. I realized last week what a commitment breastfeeding is going to be and how pretty much all of my clothes from January are going to need to be breastfeeding friendly! It's such a strange thing to think about, but I think nursing is going to affect my wardrobe much more than maternity has!0
