I don't have calves, I have steer. I have pretty big, well defined calves and never train them. It is genetic. At the gym people ask me and my trainer what I do to work them, my response is always 4" heels for 10 hours a day ;)

Check out the chubby vegetarian blog, I have gotten many amazing recipes from there.

I started reading the first one (someone gave me all three downloads) and I can't get through it. It feels to me as though it were written by a 12 year old.

How often are you weighing yourself? I know that it is suggested that we not weigh ourselves more than once a week, but I find that daily gives me a better reading on fluctuations. I tend to fluctuate 2-3 pounds almost every day (yes same scale, same clothes, same time of day) and if I only weighed myself once a week I'd…

She may be resentful of the time that you spend working out, especially if it has significantly cut into your couple or family time--and if you are helping out around the house less because of your workout schedule or your eating requirements are causing more work for her it might be an almost reflexive payback....not that…

I have used diaper rash ointment on any areas that get chafed--because it is designed to be a water barrier and is not quite water soluble it holds up well in very sweaty/wet conditions and it also helps to heal any chafing that has already occured. As far as nipple specific chafing--I haven't had that issue, but as a…

If you ran 10 miles you most certainly will be able to run a half marathon. I speak from experience here, the longest I had ever run before my first half was 10k. You have already run the distance that is the longest training run in most beginner half training programs.

Pennsylvania Tough Mudder on 4/29/12 and LI Half Marathon on 5/6/12....wasn't in the best shape for the Tough Mudder, but it was a fabulous experience. At the start of the half marathon, I was afraid I wouldn't be able to finish it, but I did and beat my previous half marathon time by 13 minutes.....

If you are eating at a surplus you most certainly will gain either muscle or fat depending on your activity level. Women can bulk up, it isn't easy for many female body types, but it does happen and many women tend to carry more weight in their hips and thighs (I for one have always had what I refer to as "big peasant…

I wear compression tights...under armor, nike, etc...they end mid thigh and are just long enough to eliminate the chub rub....to eliminate the chafing from the sports bra or anywhere else I use diaper rash ointment (desitin, a&d, sudocream) it is really the best moisture barrier out there...I also use it after any chafing…

Lifting heavy will increase muscle mass....eventually you will burn fat, but you will have bigger muscles as well. If you do not like the way your legs are responding to your heavy lifting regimen try something different. What is the look you are hoping to achieve? If you want the legs of a ballerina I would suggest doing…

Great post. All so very true.

These are my standard responses to anyone who asks if I am on a diet: I am on a diet and have been since the day I was born. At birth my diet consisted of breast milk, but gradually my parents introduced a variety of foods, which then became part of my diet. Yes, but I changed from the Lion diet, I found I don't like the…

One of my running coaches always suggests that as you run periodically have your thumb almost brush your hip; this makes you more aware of keeping your shoulders down and relaxed but still have your arms moving.

If you are using the iPhone app all of that information is already there for you. From the home page just look under the DAILY tab and it will give a breakdown of everything.

Try the couch to 5k program, if there is a running group in your area check with them about beginners programs. On Long Island, the Greater Long Island Running Club just started their beginner program last night.
