  • Glad to hear this. I've restricted to severely like this to see lower numbers on the scale faster, and it's not sustainable. Sooner or later, I would simple quit. I'd see it as a failure because I'd "given in" to cravings that were likely simply my body crying out to be nourished properly. I'd feel great for awhile, then…
  • I don't eat anything that doesn't taste good to me--PERIOD. If you can't do this and enjoy what your eating, please re-evaluate what you are eating. I do think for me, that I will have to monitor calories for years to come, but I hope that it will finally 'click' in terms of what an actual serving size is, and what normal…
  • I had this problem on Weight Watchers when I wasn't eating enough fat. Check your fat intake. If you're way under every day, try some juggling around and increase your fat. It did stop when I started eating more fat.
  • This is higher in sodium, but my kids loved it: chicken breast tenders or chicken breast cut into bite sized pieces, about a pound. Shake N Bake chicken flavor Mix the two and bake as directed on the shake n bake box. I bake pre-made french fries to go with this. Orida Steak Fries have been our favorites lately. Add a…
  • Don't quit is number one. Number two would be to look at your nutritional goals, your exercise goals and measure your progress by that. Is your strength and endurance increasing? Do you feel better and have more energy? If so, that's progress in my opinion. Have you looked at the option of increasing your calories?
  • . I've had dietitians recommend this to me too
  • Would it make you feel better to know that I've lost 18 pounds since November, and am not even down a full size? My pants are loose, but not quite enough to go down a size. *Disclaimer: 11 pounds have been since joining MFP a little over a month ago. Inches are great--your shrinking. The scale will catch up.
  • I think it's important to do both; there is a synergistic effect. I started exercising in November, but didn't start improving my diet and watching my calorie intake until a little over a month ago. I lost 7 pounds with just exercise November-Mid Feb. Since adding a healthier diet to the mix, I've lost 11 pounds. Getting…
  • Cheese--couple of ounces with a few crackers I like a dried fruit (cranberries) and pistachio combination.
  • I understand, but my runner friends pounded the following into my head: GO SLOW. It takes a long time to build speed and distance. Being overweight, it may take even longer. Hang in there! I use a treadmill and when I started there was no way I could do 40-45 min. I was sucking wind after 15 min at a 2.0 Now I walk for an…
  • BTDT...oh boy! Yeah, I saw my weight creeping up too but denial is powerful. Feel free to add me.
  • I have a good friend who has had a lot of success with low carb over the long haul. I'm not talking about the extremes of the induction week of Atkins forever (I thought she was nuts at first) but she's kept off over 85 pounds for 6+ years. It works for her--your own mileage may vary. She does "go off plan" occasionally.
  • I've been around for about a month, feel free to add me if you want. I'm in for the long haul, and have a similar amount of weight to lose.
  • Are you able to identify why are binging when you do it? Honestly, I would talk to a therapist about this. Personally, I love food. I love to eat. I'm not ashamed of that fact, but I do understand what you mean.
  • Try making your sweet treat a reward. I love Diet Pepsi, and it's my reward in the evening for drinking 8 servings of water throughout the day. Three things happened: 1. I drink a lot less Diet Pepsi (1-2 a day), and 2. I like water better. 3. My diet pepsi cravings have decreased dramatically.
  • It really depends on the day for me. Some days I'm too busy at work to take a break, so I only eat 2 large meals. Other days it's 3-4. I don't put rules on it, I'm trying to learn to listen to my body.
  • http://www.ringaroundtherosies.net/2012/02/freezer-cooking.html A friend of mine just pinned this on Pinterest. Give it a look.
  • Ditto this! Right now, I spend about $30 a week on fruits and veggies for two adults. Soon it will Farmer's Market season, and I can't wait! In the mean time, I use the sales flyer from the store to plan. For example, a head of green leaf lettuce is usually 99 cents, while the packaged stuff can be up to 2.99-3.99. Toss in…
  • Be sure you clear this with your surgeon first. Listen to your body, and don't overdo it. I was shocked at how tired I was the first week after a relatively minor surgery on my foot. All I did was sleep--I actually lost about 10 pounds over about 6 weeks because I had no appetite. I couldn't bear weight on my foot, and I…
  • I really like this! We have a LOT of food at work. Next week there is a pot luck, I have a community breakfast I'm supposed to attend next week, chili cook offs, people bringing in there kids' school fundraisers, etc. Tomorrow I have a coworker who wants to buy pizza for everyone. I told her I would pass, I think I…
  • I have several supportive co-workers. Just about everyone at my work is on some sort of a diet. There are a few that are NOT supportive at all; those are actually the skinnier ones at my work. There is one chick that is doing Isagenix. She's actually not overweight, and a regular exercise program would benefit her far more…
  • If you're being serious :-) I'd chew gum or eat hard candy.
  • this, this, and more of this!! At 250 pounds, I didn't care. I also couldn't run anywhere, so I walked. Then I got a treadmill, and I love it :-) Do what you can, a little each day, and build your fitness. Rome wasn't built in a day!
  • big difference, you look great!
  • Agreed! Once I finally learned to take it slow as a matter of building health and fitness vs. trying to kill myself, I made progress.
  • You can use low-fat cream cheese (don't do the fat free) and then bake them. Spray a pan with Pam and then bake them until they get a little crispy. You can spray the tops of the wonton skins too, or brush the skins with a dab of olive oil. Use the recipe builder to calculate the calories. The regular recipe is just a dab…
  • I try to do two servings of fruit a day, 4 servings of veggies (2 with lunch and dinner each), and 2-3 servings of dairy--usually one steamed milk with my espresso, some cheese for the 2nd, and either cottage cheese or yogurt for the third. Breakfast is cereal or oatmeal, once or twice a week I do an egg with toast or…
  • For me, this all depends on the day. Some days I need a "down" day where I hunker down with my Kindle and a nap. These are the days I'm likely to eat three meals and no snacks. On work days (my schedule varies, I work first and second shift, never a consistent work week), I do pack a lunch and usually eat bulkier foods. If…
  • In general, virtually all processed foods. Shop the perimeter of the store. Go through the organic section of the store and possibly frozen foods for frozen veggies. If it has more than one ingredient, the likelyhood of it containing any of the above ingredients will increase. Sugar-free processed foods will have the…

  • I have a 24oz bottle that I fill up 3x a day, and I just schedule it. I don't do plain water well, but the bottle with the straw, and having it very cold helps. My reward is a Diet Pepsi...and I WANT that Diet Pepsi bad.
