talk to them. like other people have said- see when they will be out or reassure them its only for one hour. If they know how long the ''noise'' will last and why i think they will be more forgiving.

thank you all for your help. I think I am going to have to treat myself like a newbie when it comes to outdoor running and I think that I am going to alternate between the two so I can get used to both. Speed monitoring and gait will have to be focused on when outdoors. YOUR ALL STARS

If you are happy with what you are doing atm, and are looking to loose more weight then just carry on with what you are doing and accept this slower weight loss rate. I think I will just have to make an appointment. Its just I dont get the pain at any other time during the day or with running on the treadmill or even dance aerobics or any type of exercise apart from running outside. But you may be right.

I agree that P.E classes should be made more fun- love the idea of zumba, or actually training for a 5k etc. However if school isnt providing the child with the knowledge about diet and exercise then it comes down to the parent. If you loose the weight too fast you will be left with the saggy baggy skin. Then you will need surgery. If you loose it slower then your skin will have time to adjust - not completely but better than with the fast loss. That said, do what works for you. Some people prefer a quick fix
