MFP also calculated overly high calorie burn for me. I now have a Polar F4 HRM and love it. The HRM purchase, which I put off for quite a while, has really helped motivate me during exercise. It is fun to watch the calories add up, or see the heart rate go up and down depending on effort. The chest strap does sometimes…

Bump. Would love to be inspired to leave out the milk/fat free half & half and splenda/stevia.

I hear you! My two dogs are my best hiking/walking/running buddies--they don't whine (like my 11 year old) and help me feel safe, too. Plus my little one makes me laugh by doing something goofy every time.

Yes, during PMS I get RAVENOUSLY hungry and sometimes I'm afraid I do a pretty good imitation of a bottomless pit. I can only offer my commiseration. I am glad for all the advice of previous posters, except from the clueless guy. Good for a laugh, though.

Thanks for the great post! It is good to be reminded that there is a more important kind of progress that the scale! Lookin' good!

You make those long pants look niiiiiice! Congrats of your success, from a 6'-0" person who can relate! Thanks for the post.

Congratulations! Incredible accomplishment and you look so good!

FYI PolarF4 does go in the pool and the product manual supports that. It says don't press the buttons in the water. I've used it the pool about 6 times. Unless the chest strap is REALLY tight, though, it loses the heart beat.

I do feel your pain. When I am over-weight I have decent boobs, but when I lose, each one shrinks and sags before I lose an ounce from my thunder thighs. Frustrating and unfair. But I am trying to be patient and believe it will all come off the lower body eventually, and I'll be PERFECTLY proportioned soon! OK maybe not…

Major bump! THNX!

Thanks for posting that...I've been discouraged things aren't happening faster and when I get discouraged I tend to blow it...which I did this weekend. Your words help and your long term outlook and success (24 lbs gone!) is inspirational. I appreciate you taking the time to write what you did. I'll keep at it!

I too am a beer lover! Tempted by beers, popcorn, cookies more so than wine and candy. I drink the bud 55 (pitiful, I know-but still...) raaaawther often and the microbrews (YUM!) only as a special treat (or when I'm blowing it). I agree, life simply requires a beer every now and then.

Thanks! I just ordered it. After I read it I'll pass it along to all my tall nieces!

Woah! Congrats on your success! Such hard work and you are looking so good!

Congratulations on your success! You look so great!

What SOMETIMES works for me is to tell myself that I can eat whatever I want, but FIRST I have to eat a decent amount of something healthy (apple, carrots, grapefruit etc) and then wait 20 minutes. By that time my dangerous hunger craving has dissipated and I can usually resist. I also do the same thing about exercise: I…

My favorite: "You are so lucky you are tall, you get to eat so much more!" Ha! they don't realize that my appetite matches my height, so I feel every bit as challenged as they do when dieting.

6'-0" ... great to know there are other tall chicks out there working on it! xo

Hi Robin, I am 49 and just started on MFP 3 days ago. I had been using the WW site and paying through the nose and then one of my friends turned me on to this cool site for *free*! I love it so far...still figuring things out a bit. This is my first time looking in the forums. Best wishes!
