  • when my hubby and i started considering when to start our family (still waiting :( ....)my doctor said that up until about 3 months i can do ab work outs and if i've been working out before i should be able to safely continue as i was until balance becomes an issue. if you're really worried ask your doc at the next visit.
  • pre-plan your snacks. i count out my chips/portions the night before and won't reach for the big bag all day. I have lock out times where i can't snack and when i have the snacking urge i drink water. also have healthy snacks. I can have pita chips and humus or string cheese and still stay on track
  • It has happen to me. I fell off for about a month and gain 5 to 7 lbs back. I've been starting back slowly, but I can't get the body i want, without work. You can do it, you just need to stop the excuses. already i am two pounds down in one week.
  • first off no friend would say that. call her an acquaintance (a very jealous and insecure one at that). You are changing your life and if folks aren't there to support you they just may be part of that change. I am a negative person (and I am working on that) but when I log on here I try very hard to make sure I support…
  • i use 2 mph as my set. usually i am walking faster but it is stop and go. i don't count the grocery, but i do count my days at the hospital as a nurse (student). I am usually on my feet for 6 hours or more and walking/lifting and so forth. I want to give myself some credit so i remember to eat some of what i probably…
  • any reason you are tracking sugar? are you diabetic? If not you know when you eat non natural sugar and this site doesn't distinguish between that, as a result you will always be over. As for salt you are eating a lot of processed foods and restaurants are famous for a heavy hand with sodium. when i cook at home i don't…
  • I had wanted to lose weight before my wedding but that didn't happen and i actually gained weight with all the pre-wedding stuff. in the end though i still have some amazing pictures and my hubby and i both say that day was a blur. you soon to be hubby loves you as you are and as you'll be, don't cheat him or yourself of…
  • It depends on what you are wanting to do. I haven't seen many fans of shape up like shoes for runners but I swear by my shape ups as walking/working shoes. I'm on my feet a lot and working at the hospital and i want to do everything to help protect my back. These shoes take awhile to get used to and I don't recommend them…
  • hubby works 24 hour shifts so the next day i'm hoping for a sushi lunch date. it's been to long and i love spicy sushi :)
  • ^ they have it right. when i go out i want to enjoy my food but taking at least half home (sometime i'll even pre pack it to force the self control) and avoiding the chips work pretty well. i accept when i eat out my sodium will be horrible but the biggest challenge is the bowl of chips because i love them so much
  • if it is a new guy and you like him don't let him see you stress. Cut some calories but not everything. I love my burgers but no fries and no salad dressing and only unsweetened ice tea or water. if you want to do healthier see if they have meat options (ie turkey or chicken or buffalo<- which is delicious btw and shows an…
  • they aren't bad. Its more like a hidden calorie if you use them in meat balls. Sodium is a little high but that is ok too because you will likely divide the portion to less. This site has made me more aware of food and sources of calories but I still use what i always have. I just make better choices like turkey instead of…
  • is it all your diary or just parts? if so what parts?
  • You know what skinny friends are good for? ordering french fries that you can have a few of :) I do this with my hubby all the time. he'll get the full meal with soda and fries and I will get to eat 5 or 6 fries and be blissfully happy :) a few bites of good food is way better than over stuffing and regret. As for them not…
  • i do have this issue now and then. I buy fun size candy and let myself have some. there are better choices out there but two junior mints won't kill me and the fun size box has only 3 to 5 in it. My only rule is if i give in have have to try and burn it. Usually i will try to drink water and wait it out first but I'm…
  • 2 lbs is a weight loss that can stick! I have seen big numbers but then the came right back. slow steady and consistent is what will make this lifestyle change last! That is a great weight loss
  • leave the pit in the part you are planning to store. I am the only one in my house to eat avocado so I slice between an 8th to a 4th off the pit at a time and it keeps about a week in a plastic bag. the less i cut and expose to air the better.
  • gina has tons of ideas! if you want sweet i love fresh apples with fat free cream cheese and marshmallow fluff. I use a tablespoon to dish it what is missed by my guests but lets me measure what I eat. Oh and it's known as the crack dip because no one can walk away from it
  • it depends on how much time and money you have and want to spend. I love 30ds because it was cheap and is 25 minutes a day. less room for me to say i don't have time. As far as results go the pictures on MFP from P90x speaks for itself and it is really a great work out, but it takes more dedication then I have currently
  • I love sweet and spicy mash them up with chipoltes in adobo. sooo good!
  • Try looking up anemia on Mayo Clinic. It is possible that you are but your nails also indicate other possible nutritional needs. I would give the vitamins a few weeks to work and see if some of the symptoms subside, if not consult your doctor, who will likely order a simple blood test to determine what your body is…
  • Exactly^^^^ tomorrow is another day and you may not be able to stay on track for a few days. If i had to live out of my pantry for a few days the first may be ok but face it we all stock the emergency/ in a hurry less than healthy food. Find a way to do some group play/ exercise. I'm the babysitter that firmly believes in…
  • MFP doesn't see a difference between fruit and refined sugar. Most people suggest ignoring any fruit / veggie you consume. Someone told me that unless I have a reason to track sugar (diabetic) I shouldn't. Basically you know when you have sugar because rarely is it hidden. Processed foods, refined grains, refined sugars,…
  • i love three triscuit crackers and reduced fat string cheese. easy for on the go. doesn't need the fridge and crunchy!
  • You have a good head on your shoulders from what i read. Just remember that a body my lose fat but gain muscle so while the scale is a good guide, your eyes are the best there is. The fit of your clothes and how they look on you are gonna show you the changes that the pounds may not. Also don't forget that your body may…
  • they are saying that based on the assumption that you are only eating up to 1200 calories a day. If you burn 200 through exercise you are then basically getting the nutritional value of 1000 of the those calories not the full 1200 that your body needs to function. Hence why they say eat your exercise calories to ensure…
  • i think you'll find a lot of people have been where you are. I step on the scale first thing every morning despite knowing that that is not the smartest thing. I can over eat and feel guilty to the point that my stomach hurts. Most folks on MFP are here to lose weight and change his or her life and as a result sometimes we…
  • I plan my cheat days, meals or weekends. If i have too many, my weight loss stalls out, but i haven't found a great balance for going out of town to see family and friends and having full control of my meals. I do make the best decisions possible but it doesn't always work out. when it is just for me, I put my unhealthiest…
  • I'm right here with you. I "out grew" my large clothes and decided to get in shape instead of getting a whole new wardrobe. Now that fit and I hope to go smaller but I worry I will balloon right up again and then I'll have wasted a lot of money. My hubby and I hope to start a family with the next year or two and the size…
