Don't write it off! I do that all the time on the weekends and keep pushing through. I use those days as an excuse to go to the gym and do some extra cardio and lifting. I find that the days I eat more give me more fuel to get motivated the next day at the gym. So far I have been fine. May not lose as much at next…

I know the feeling. I switched to diet cola, but always try to get in an extra 300 calorie workout for my favorite beverage: beer. Its a vice but so far, able to manage it within my calorie count. I think the most important thing to changing my lifestyle is still being able to enjoy my favorites as long as I keep it within…

Im back for a second round as well. Lost 25pds a few years back but got back into bad habits and gained it all back plus another 10 ;(. My fat pants were getting tight last month and had to decide whether to buy yet another set of bigger clothes or get serious and start losing it again. Been at it for a month now and…

I love my tea. I buy loose leaf tea at upton tea out on the internet. Never knew tea tasted so good compared to the bag variety and dont have to add anything to it. Awesome stuff and I figure its gotta be better for me than coffee

I bought a timex a few weeks ago and noticed the same thing. The hrm was always way higher than both MFP and the machines themselves. Then I started investigating and found out that one of the vital stats to determine accurate calories burned is your VO2max. Since my timex doesnt let you enter this value its using an…

I bought a timex hrm a few weeks ago and am disappointed with it. I found the calories burned to be highly inaccurate. If your buying an hrm just to track your percentage of max hr to do zone training, then the cheaper hrm's are fine. If you want one for accurate calorie burn, then do some research first (unlike what I did…

I've been using it for years. Its a great calorie burner. Many of them have different modes(strength, cardio, fat burn, etc) you can try. If yours does, try using them to get ideas of various intensity levels. Depending on resistance and incline you can feel like your dying on the elliptical too! Not that I recommend that.…

I have the same problem with sodium. One thing I switched out that might work for you is that I stopped buying the quaker oatmeal weight control and bought the store brand 'quick oats'. Many stores have them (including walmart). You use it the same as instant oatmeal (zap some water and add the oats), and then I flavor…

Thanks for the info Azdek. I've been wondering if my HRM is over-estimating. I got it a few weeks ago and expected it to show lower calories burned than the machines(since that is what I see most people commenting on). I found, to my surprise, that it was reporting much higher numbers. I have a HRmax of 185 (I base this…

If you can get him onboard with the dieting I think you'll find the jealousy dissappear. His jealousy probably stems from multiple concerns. Why your doing it, you motivation to do something about your weight(maybe he doesnt like the fact that your doing something to lose and he is not), etc. I had some friction with my…

Wednesday is my normal weigh in day. This morning I was 1 pound lighter than last week ;) Slow and steady and so far been a smooth ride. Congrats to everyone!

I agree that tracking is the best way to keep in line. We like to go out as a family on weekends to a good restaurant. We dont restrict where we go so its different every week. As long as I track what I'm eating I usually can stay fairly close to my daily goal. The extra cardio also helps me. I usually try to do an extra…

Good idea. Next time Im in the mood for a turkey burger I'll give it a try.

I usually eat about half my excercise calories. I figure since the calories burned from excercise is not that precise, I'll meet it halfway and eat half of them. That way I dont worry about going over for the day but still try to keep on track with the number of calories I need to consume to give my body enough to keep…

I just started 2 weeks ago and havent thought about rewards before. Sounds kinda cool. Currently I'm at 217. Been wanting one of those heartrate monitors for the cardio. Maybe I'll make that a reward for getting to 200 ;) Good luck on your goals!
