Hi, I weigh every week, mostly on Friday mornings. I googled weight gain during pregnancy calculater and went on to this site: http://www.calculator.net/pregnancy-weight-gain-calculator.html It gives a basic guideline of what you should gain. Mine has been very spot on with the ranges they give. I'm just on maintenance…

Thanks for all your messages, it really helps hearing first hand accounts! I'll have to have a loooong chat with my gyne about the pros and cons, luckily he is amazing! All the best for all of you as well.

Thanks ladies! I really don't want a C section after reading all your posts! I've done a lot of research and I realise how much better vaginal birth is. I live in northern Mozambique, we've been expats here for over 4 years, so I have to travel to South Africa for birth at 36 weeks latest, then have to make sure my husband…

I went for a fetal assessment the other day and the doc said he's pretty sure its a girl. We don't care much about the gende, as long as baby is healthy! That sounds really good on the weight gain front, I hope I am as lucky as you are! I'm weighing in tomorrow, hope to be on par with my +0.5 kg that I should have gained,…

Look, different diets work for different people. If you can lose weight by only logging your food, still eat rice, bread, etc. then lucky you. I couldn't, and I had grat success on Dukan. My kidneys are fine, I didn't only eat protein, except on attack phase, where I actually still had yoghurt and cottage cheese added into…

It teaches you that you can eat certain foods in unlimted quantities, yes, everything within moderation. Its a very structured diet, and if you read up properly and follow the diet to the end, anyone can have success with it, I think people who do Dukan and gain their weight and more back, didn't follow all the principles…

Love it! Lost 20lb, my exact goal to lose, and kept it off when I went into stabilization! I was in last phase for 4 months, didn't gain a single pound. It sounds really tough but once you are into it, it is so easy. I am now 4 months pregnant, but you can be sure that as soon as I get the clear from my doctor after birth,…

Hi... Ok, I know I will probably get slack for this... But seeing as you are already doing low carb, try the Dukan diet. Seriously! I lost 20lb last year, in just over 4 months...with No exercise, only started walking after the weight came off! If you go to www.dukandiet.com, and on the right side of the page it says…

I use it every day. Actually started the free running in my lounge by running up and down the passage-way. I built up enough muscle and stamina through running in my house that I can now do a 20 minute run outside. I wasn't confident enough to start running outside, but the Wii helped me a lot. I also dropped 10 Kg's in 5…

Hi ladies. Congrats to you all! Is there any of you who lost their appetite during the first couple of months? I can't eat anything besides apples! I look at food and get sick, at this stage I'm forcing myself to eat other fruit, which seems to be all I can keep down, even water makes my stomach lurch! I'm going on 8 weeks…

I started eating back my exercise calories, about 200 a day, so went from 1200cals to 1400 cals a day. I never ate my exercise calories back, but since I started losing again. Now average about 1.5 lb weight loss a week.

Yes, drinking more water stops water retention... instead of excreting water and waste products, you body retains existing water to reuse. This is what causes water retention and bloating. When you don't get enough water, your body panics and holds on to it selfishly, as though you're in a famine. Dehydration thus can make…

Just remember the seasoning that goes with most protein: Salt! One of the main causes of water retention. You might just be over seasoning your food?! Up your water intake, or try a diuretic like green tea or something...

I see where you are going with this! Thats how I gained all my weight in the first place... Never ate a lot of bad stuff, just ate a little bit of bad stuff every day, like a hand full of crisps, of two glasses of juice, a bowl of pasta! Added up and WHAM! 10kg's overweight! Now that I don't eat the nice stuff, I lose…

I agree with tandoori chicken, I always eat tikka chicken when I have indian. And yoghurt salad. Its normally made from plain yoghurt, with tomatoes, onions and cucumber in, really healthy. Just skip the rice and the wraps and you should be fine... When I go out and I know my options are limited, I have a big lunch, or a…

Hi Emily... Welcome to Dukan! I've been on for 7 months now, skipped a month, then started over. Total loss of 20lb so far, only 5 more to go! But I'm taking it slow... Dukan has really changed my eating habbits, I don't even look at carbs anymore, no cravings, not for sweets or anything! Only thing I do still want is…

I agree with the 30 days shred. The good thing with a program like that is that it is structured, gives you clear lay out of exactly what you need to do, for how long. Its good to follow a program like that to get into the habbit of exercising. I also agree with lifting weights, but only after you've started and built up a…

Our parents and grandparents and everyone who came before them had meat and carb based diets, and seriously, my grandpa is one of the healthiest people I know (at 85)... He eats meat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and he seems fine! And yes, we hunt our own meat, and yes, we are all quite healthy. But this is all besides…

Welcome to Dukan! I'm also a Dukan for life. Its not a diffycult adjustment to your lifestyle, and once you are into it and understand what and how, its really easy! You can add me if you have any questions.

I agree with low carb, but don't think a no carb is sustainable, even for a couple of days. I've been following Dukan diet for months now, really low carb. I don't eat any starch, only meat and veg, very limited fruit. I aim for between 50 - 70 grams of carbs a day, mostly from wholegrain breakfast and milk or cheese etc.…

Home made trail mix. Almonds, cranberries and pumpkin seeds. I measure mine out in 100gram bags, and then when I want to snack I know what the calories work out to.

I know not a lot of people agree with this, but I'm on high protein, no carb diet. I try and stick to less than 50g carbs a day. I tried the "eat anything you want as long as you stay under your calories a day"... did not work for me. Low carb, high protein is the only thing that has ever worked! I've been doing Dukan diet…

Hi guys. I've been on dukan since May. I've lost all my weight, then went on to consolidation and pick up 5kg's again. So now I'm back in cruise, untill I lose the extra 5 again. But I've decided once I lose it to not add back all the things you should in consolidation, like the bread and the cheese etc. I do have one…

Jillian Micheals 30 day shred is amazing... really, and it works! Do that to start of with if you are a beginner... then move on to Insanity! If you are already quite fit, go straight to insanity...

I lose about a pound a week if I stick to less than 50grams of carbs a day. I try and get those carbs from fruits, nuts and veg, not from bread and pasta etc. Glad to see everyone is playing nicely today when the carb topic came up! No fights so far! :-)

Jumping Jacks! One jumping jack = 1 calorie! And they work all over, your tummy, arms and legs!

I eat lots of cottage cheese too, as it is allowed on pure protein and protein and veg days. Also, I eat a lot of sandwich ham, we have a brand called like it lean, no carbs, so I eat lots of that too. I can't stand the oatbran, no matter how I have it, so I eat bran flakes with non fat milk. I've weighed them up against…

Yes, but as a lot of people's mission on this website is to lose weight, starvation isn't really an issue. And yes, everything is processed, but its still natural versus refined. I'd still go for natural. And seeing as I live in one of those deprived third world countries, I actually do know that most of the people here…

loTheo, I was actually reading up about dukan diet and pregnancy, as we are thinking of starting a family next year. In principle you will need more calories during pregnancy, but this also applied to breastfeeding. Not sure on which phase you are, but the article I read about dukan during pregnancy was for the…
