I wondered this, too, and did some research when I started adding juicing into my diet (usually have fresh juice for breakfast and as an afternoon snack). I use the same 3 recipes and just switch what I drink, so that makes it a bit easier. I calculated the calories for a serving of juice, calculated the calories from the…

I find that I do best if I have a couple of small snacks in the afternoons. Maybe an apple in the early part of the afternoon and some fresh veggie juice, nuts, or cheese later in the afternoon. Feeling like I'm being deprived is the fastest way to send me on a binge! Another thing to consider is maybe making salads up…

Thank you for posting this! This thread is making me nuts with all its alarmism. It's as bad as parents who teach "stranger danger" and yet *never* get the message across to their kids that *no one*, even their favorite uncle or Mommy's new friend, is allowed to touch them in any way that makes the child uncomfortable. The…

Its hard to see the labels, but I just wanted to point out to be sure to get a lotion that's made for the face. The lotion we use on the rest of our bodies is not necessarily good for faces.

For sensitive skin, I would second the recommendation for Cetaphil. Their cleanser is great, too. Using too harsh a cleanser will cause the dryness. It's a vicious cycle I dealt with for a very long time.

Eat well and stay withing your calories on Saturday. Sunday, choose as many healthy options as you can (load your plate with veggies), enjoy spending time with your family, and don't stress so much. If it *really* stresses you out, do some cardio Sunday morning if you have time and it will give you a bit more calories for…

Such simple and accurate advice.

bump - I think I'll try these this weekend! Thanks for sharing. :flowerforyou:

If you have iPhone or a Droid the app Zombies, Run! is a lot of fun. You don't have to be running. I listen to it on the elliptical all the time, you just can't do the zombie chases's part. The story is still fun! Another thing I've found that helps using the programs on the treadmill and elliptical. It keeps you from…

Cracklin' Oat Bran - I don't know if it's actually healthy. It has lots of fiber and is a sweet treat for me, though. I also like Raisin Bran Crunch, plain Cheerio's (especially with sliced banana!) and Frosted Mini Wheats. I know, it's frosted, but I eat sugar and am still losing weight. Not worried about it. It's a…

Washing once when your finished should be sufficient, but then it's *really* important to moisturize, too. Washing more leads to dry skin and so your body will increase oil production, leading to more breakouts. Pick a good skincare line and stick with it - Clinique, ProActive and Mary Kay are the ones that have worked for…

My hair gets dry if I wash it every day, too. So I actually skip a day, sometimes two, in between washes.
-
I usually do - and those are the days I'm not going over my calorie goal. I actually went through my diary last night and planned out the rest of the week.

Another repost for this one - if we keep quoting it enough maybe others will start to believe it. :flowerforyou:

I know it's frustrating, but 1lb a week loss is very healthy. Losing too fast, especially when you don't have a lot to lose, is very difficult and often not sustainable. It sounds like you're doing things right. Keep striving for your 1400 net daily calorie goal and hang in there!

I do count the calories. Pretty much the same as if I had eaten it. But when you're talking about a lot of veggies, the calories are pretty low. Most of the calories in the juices I make are from the apple I throw in to make it something I actually enjoy drinking.
-
This is me, too. I love juicing for that reason! I know I'm sacrificing the fiber, but I make sure I get plenty of that from other foods. Juicing is how I get more leafy green veggies in my diet. Kale, collard greens, rainbow chard - things I love when juiced with other veggies and some apple, but wouldn't eat on their…

Sort of this... It's what I'm doing. I'm getting married May 25 and doing a local 1/2 marathon 3 weeks before. I wouldn't recommend doing one the week before you're wedding. Women get stressed out enough just getting things ready, you don't want the two things bumping up too much. Also, there's the whole…

Get a good nights sleep and have fun! :flowerforyou:

I'm also getting marred in May. We just booked our honeymoon in Cancun. We got the insurance because you just never know what could happen. We're both young(ish  ) and healthy, but there might be a freak hurricane, I could break a leg training for my half-marathon or one of us could have a car accident... you just…

Check out this thread - all kind of goodies in there! And the pictures help. :-) http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/823358-what-do-your-meals-look-like-show-me-pictures

Really, the less it's a "product" the healthier it is. Roasted or grilled meats, proper cheese (not that "cheesefood" stuff in a can), eggs, whole grains like quinoa and slow oats. The fewer things that come in a box or bag the better. The best things for you aren't product lines, they're whole foods that haven't been…

One real problem with going way under on calories is that it can lead to burn-out. Then you binge and get discouraged. It's a vicious cycle. Your body needs fuel to live and to do your workouts. There's nothing wrong with eating occasional treats that fit into your calories. Trust the system - eat your calories (including…

Doesn't make sense to me, either, and I run intervals the way you do, OP. When I started, running for 30 seconds (or less in the very beginning) would have been equivalent to a fit person sprinting for all their worth - gasping for breath, heart pounding, literally couldn't do it another second. Maybe look up some stuff…

The closer you are to your optimum weight, the harder it is to lose. I would recommend you set your MFP setting to lose 1lb a week, eat back your exercise calories, and focus on changing the composition of your body rather than just focus on the scale. There are some great threads with before and after pictures of people…

Thank to you both for mentioning this. I downloaded it last night, after my workout, and wanted to go for a run just so I could play! lol! Can't wait to do a mission tonight. :-)
-
Thank you! I could have written this myself, the thoughts are so familiar. I've been struggling so much and keep saying I'm going to stop trying to run and just increase my walking speed until I drop more weight. I'll be back to read through the responses!

Interesting! I'm glad they're focusing more on macros now. I had the formula from years ago (needed it to figure out the points in my own recipes). Tracking calories on MFP is easier for me. :-)
-
Keep in mind that MFP has already calculated your deficit. The point in exercising is to keep your heart healthy and keep muscle mass while losing weight. My daily calorie goal is 1800 and I eat back almost all of my exercise calories every day. It's not unusual for me to eat 2400 calories in a day.
-
I eat my exercise calories if I'm still hungry at the end of the day. Which is what happens 99% of the time. I am training for a half-marathon right now and I will sometimes have 600+ calories from exercise. And that's when I get out the apples and cheese. :-) OK, that's not the only time, but you get the idea. lol
