Hello Fellow Vegans
-
I recently visited a naturopath for similar symptoms. First, she ordered a full battery of hormonal checks for me. Different than your regular blood check. She found I have very low progesterone and high DHEA (a weak male hormone) that typically indicates Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). This is what gives me painful…

Thank you for your message, I'm glad you over came the pain & that your life is better for it now. :)

Wow, well I'm glad you seem to have gotten things sorted. Thanks for the information :)

LMAO at "duck lips". Unfortunately, now I'll probably break out in giggles during my next gyn exam. Awk-ward. Also, I don't think I can look at Instagram selfies the same ever again. OP, I have found a lot of relief using a TENS machine. I originally got it to augment physiotherapy for my ankle and wrist, but read about…

I think they are the ones I have!

It's not just the pain... It's the nausea & vomiting that is most concerning... Either way according to the a Doctor 'it's all perfectly normal' .. I should just get over it!
-
Thank you for your kind words and advice. I am planning on going to a specialist as my GP hasn't helped at all.

If so, what causes it? Identifying the problem is important & so is finding out the cause in the first place..! Painful periods run in my family but I am not one to pass it off as 'genetic', there must be a reason & prevention..?

I had heard good thing about Raspberry leaf tea but it has done nothing for me sadly. I drank it consistently leading up to and during my periods and they didn't improve at all :(
-
I have Turmeric tablets in my cupboard ... I'll start taking them! Thanks
-
Thank you

Thanks for the info !! I started taking that to help heal my gut not for pain relief. I'm not on the pill but I will bare this in mind when taking painkillers, thank you.
-
Thank you!!

Also... I did go to the Doctor to get tested but they actually told me not to bother because even if I was celiac it is hard to diagnose. They said I'm better off just cutting it out of my diet if I have a problem. Simply, if I eat gluten/wheat I feel awful

I have always had Diarreah whilst on my period (apparently it happens because of the bleeding and vibration of the womb looseness the Bowles at the same time). With more pain comes more diarreah sadly. I have read comments from other women that have suffered with bad periods after removing gluten from their diet, but from…

I just wrote out a long reply and it only sent the first sentence !!! Those brands sound American? I live in the UK, I've not heard of them before. Maybe try a different pill to help with your pains? When I was on the pill I had pain free light periods but it was a very mild hormone. (I had bad symptoms coming off the pill…

You had pain ALL MONTH? ...Poor you!!
-
Agreed.... I have been given the details of a Natural Therapy Doctor that specialises in Women's Issues from a friend. I will be contacting her. Many women have improved their periods through diet or other methods and I am interested to see if anyone has suggestions that I haven't tried.

I had insisted on a complete blood test after my doctor dismissed my concerns. All the results came back fine. I'm intrigued, why stop the Slippery Elm?

My doctor gave my a stronger version of ibuprofen but it doesn't always work for me. My mums a nurse, she said it's a good pain killer! :/
-
Yes, I went to the doctor 3 months after the pain increased and I started being sick. My a Doctor said it was 'Perfectly normal' brushed it off and gave me tablets... I strongly disagreed and said I don't think this is normal at all & think there is a reason this has started to get worse! She wasn't any help at all & made…

I used Agave for a few years. BUT now I don't buy it and avoid it like the plague. It is advertised as a 'healthy' product when infact it is very bad for you!! Yes it has a low GI BUT it's concentrated fructose which is terrible for your body You would be better off using sugar instead if Agave it's that bad!!! I now use…

I LOVE prepacked foods... Although my idea of prepacked foods is Organic Soups, Organic Tofu and tinned Beans. Processed foods taste artificial, don't resemble any REAL food that I've ever seen and give me a nasty headache! Life is 100% better without processed crap!!
