Most definitely this is one of those things that personal preferences are going to be all over the place. I ride a Fi'zi:k Vesta. I tried a Selle saddle but it was too spongy/soft for me. Again, my personal preference as many I know love the Selle saddles. I suggest if you are looking to get a new saddle that you go to…

Look forward to reading on your training. I started out seriously riding in early 2012 and signed up for rides to motivate me to train. At the time I got my road bike in April (was riding a hybrid) my longest ride was 24 miles. By June I did my first metric. In early Nov I signed up for the Palm Springs Century in Feb…

Not to hijack the thread but Camelbak's have their place. I recently rode up Glendora Mountain Road (GMR to locals) and there is NO WATER from the base to Mt. Baldy Village which is about 23 miles from the base and the climbing is rather steady and some rather serious elevation gain. I just did the "gate to the shack" and…

I haven't logged onto MyFitnessPal in a while. Busy. Congrats! That sounds like a tough ride! Good job!!!

I recently had to replace my 3.1 Apex due to a crash that damaged the frame. As it was due to a crash and not MFG defect, the warranty did not come into play. However, Trek and my LBS worked together to get me a great deal on a crash replacement bike. I upgraded to the 4.5 complete bike and will get everything off the 3.1…

With Trek, their women's bikes have a more upright riding position they refer to as H3. Of course, you can modify that by changing out the stem and such.

With Trek, there is a difference in frame geometry and effective top tube length between say the 52cm women's road bike and the 52cm men's. Some dimensions from WSD 3.1 Apex vs 3.1 Apex Mens Effective Top Tube: 52.9cm vs 53.4cm Frame Reach: 37.1cm vs 37.9cm Seat Tube: 49cm vs 49.3cm Head Tube: 15.5cm vs 14cm So with Trek,…

Many years ago, I had thought of doing something similar using my exercise bike. Might have to give it another try using my real bikes (no longer have the exercise bike)

I belong to bikeforums.net and there are always discussions in the Clydes / Athena's forum about wheels. Here is one such discussion: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php/792140-Will-the-stock-wheels-on-a-2011-Synapse-Carbon-6-be-OK-under-my-250lb-body?highlight=Wheels

I had my longest ride yet yesterday with my best avg speed (13.9 mph). I rode from my home to the LBS that I bought my Trek 3.1 Madone Apex from. They were having a sale this weekend and my bike was on sale...since I got it less than 30 days ago (two weeks)...they refunded me the difference in price. I had a…

I have the Elite and wear it all the time. I like how it doesn't get "dirty" since it is not cloth.

My riding will pick back up after I get back from my trip to Washington state. Haven't ridden since Sunday due to work related stuff and needing my vehicle so couldn't commute.
