I look at all package labels for sugar content and limit my sugar in all prepared foods. Also, I never use it in cooking and I stay away from milk and cream products (milk is a hidden source of sugar, non-fat milk contains more sugar than whole milk!). I do take calcium supplements to meet my daily requirements. That is…

I was just there and thoroughly enjoyed taking photos of "The Bean" in Millennium Park and shopping the Magnificent Mile. Some great restaurants on the Magnificent Mile as well! Can't wait to go back and do it all over again!

For many of us who experienced extreme weight loss, the definition for "happy with our body" becomes a little skewed. All said, yes I am happier with my "new" body after losing (in total) a little over 85 pounds (the weight fluctuates a couple of pounds daily)... but I traded fat and a size 18 for sagging skin and a size…

I weigh in daily as well. My weight fluctuates based on water retention, so yes I too see the numbers go up and down by a few pounds. But that is to be expected in maintenance mode. I don't worry about the fluctuation because I always keep my calorie intake below my daily allowed... when I don't weigh in daily I find I…

My guilty pleasure... sugar free Jello pudding (one individual serving) in a plain ice cream cone. Only 80 calories!

You say diabetes runs in your family... type 1 or type 2? Huge difference between the two... Type 1... mostly genetic. The organs in the body have stopped or never properly processed sugar. Most cases require insulin drug treatment. Type 2... mostly attributed to diet and weight, although years ago it was referred to as…

With all your concern regarding sugar... sounds like you might be a diabetic or maybe borderline type 2 diabetic. I suggest you try eating foods (such as peanut butter) that are made with a sugar substitute. I watch my sugar intake closely and almost never eat foods that contain more than 2 or 3 grams of sugar. You also…

I am 5'3.5" started my weight loss at 196 lbs and I am down to 108 lbs (although I did not start using MFP until I my weight was down to 147!)... Started out at a size 18 (US) and am now down to a size 0. Took me a little over a year to lose all the weight. I have before and after pics on my home page. I believe I set it…

I don't weigh myself to see what I weigh... I monitor my weight. In doing so I weigh myself daily. Every morning at the same time. I am obsessive compulsive, so I do not recommend everyone do this... but it works for me. It is how I stay on target and never overeat! At this point I no longer want to lose weight, I would be…

I have been told by a few fitness fanatics, that if you exercise before eating you will burn more calories from your food because you “wake-up” your metabolism with the work out. I am no expert but this is what I have been told... Always keep in mind “any exercise is better than no exercise”!

Less sugar in whole milk than low or non-fat... because the fat is removed/reduced, dairies add sugar to improve the taste. If you are watching your sugar intake (like many diabetics), drink whole milk with crushed ice. The ice will slowly melt in the milk, reducing the calories a bit and the taste is awesome!

Is the skin on your tummy stretched? Do you see visible stretch marks or does your tummy skin sag? If this is NOT the case for you, then I agree concentrated sit-ups might do the trick. Anywhere the skin sags or there is visible signs of damage where the skin has stretched beyond it's elastic capacity, fat will accumulate…

Naturally your weight will fluctuate... nothing happens overnight, give it time and never give up!

I do the same thing! I know I am a bit obsessive/compulsive to weigh myself every day but it DOES help keep me on track. My weight fluctuates a pound every day but again, I am not trying to lose weight anymore, I just want to maintain. Without my daily check-in I am a bit fearful the weight will creep back on. For the…

Height: 5'4" Age/Gender: 56/Female Highest Weight: 194 pounds (US size 18) Current Weight: 107 pounds (US size 0 or 00) Lowest Weight: 107 pounds (unless you count 7.5lbs at birth! LOL) Goal Weight: 108 pounds I looked good at 115 pounds and thought I would just try to maintain... but maintaining was harder than I thought…

I was a size 18 and I am now a size 0. Never before fit into a 0, only drempt of getting down to a size 6... Bone structure is a big part of it but I accomplished my weight loss (194 lbs down to 107 lbs) by cutting out sugar from my diet, watching calories and lots of walking for exercise. I started with sugar because I…

I see all these postings from people "bashing" others for consuming low calories... come on people not everyone is the same! I try to consume 1000 or less calories a day just to maintain my weight. This has been working for me now for the last few months... which is why my weight does not change. At 108 lbs, you have to…

OMG... love it! This site needs a "Like" button!

OMG yes... and I only munch out on sugar free treats and I feel the guilt. I attribute guilt to how I was raised though (old fashoned catholic school guilt!)... with that in the back of my mind I just tell myself to get over it! One or two splurges will not hurt your journey... and 10 chocolate raisins, heck eaten…

I am 5'3' and I went from 194 to 108 in the last 18 months. Started out by eliminating sugar from my diet then I found MFP about a year ago and I started tracking my food and calorie intake. Been on a maintenance plan for the last few months. It can be done but I find maintenance so much harder than dieting.

Sugar and calories... always try to keep them below my daily allowance... also try to keep protein up... but I must admit I do not track my fluids.
-
Check out mine... on average I am less than 1100, although I am allowed 1300+, and I do eat snacks...

Forget the drawer... I have an entire bottom cabinet and when that gets full I transfer the bags to the trunk of my car (so I can drop them off at the local resale shop!)!

I went for the lowest weight to be at a healthy (normal) BMI, which also for me turns out to be a size 0. Can't find many closthes smaller than a size zero (very few size 00 out there), and if so I end up in the childrens section. Most difficult part is maintaining the weight once reached. But once you reach 108 at 5'4"…

Lots of friends is a great support... but my best suggestion is to never give up and think in baby steps. It is great to have friends to encourage you to stay on track, but it is all up to you... losing weight is a life style change, and you have to want the change. Give it time, the long term rewards are worth the work!…

Jello sugar free pudding scooped into a plain ice cream cone... zero sugar and 70 calories total. If you use chocolate pudding (my favorite) only 80 calories total!

I didn't take any before photos, because like you, I hated having my photo taken. Now, almost two years later and more than 85 pounds lost I scramble to find any old photo of me before... I really regret not allowing my picture to be taken back then. I just hated so much how I looked and could not stand the thought that…

I agree this site is great! All total I have lost 85 pounds, but I never could have achieved the last 40 without MFP... I am a daily user, record my food and exercise every day, and never felt happier or healthier!
-
I agree it is a combination of both... but what is wrong with appreciating the new way someone looks at you? Losing weight and getting into shape takes a lot of work and determination. Enjoy the fact that others appreciate your hard work and use the new found attention in a positive way.It is not necessary to go back in…

My absolute favorite is sugar free pudding in a plain ice cream cone... 70 calories (cone and pudding), zero sugar (important for diabetics) and one of the best treats to snack on in the evening in front of the TV. Another favorite... rice cakes. Quaker markets them in many flavors now, my favorite is cheese (low in…
