  • Mine is working fine too! I have the VivoFit device... been using it for about 18 months, absolutely no issues with data transfer either from or to MFP.
  • Must have a WiFi Scale in order to use that app... :-(
  • OMG... welcome to my life! That is so me that my daughter is concerned when we travel I just won't eat!
  • I picked up a Garmin VivoFit at one of the Black Friday sales... most pleased with my $50 purchase. It monitors my steps, sleep and basic activity and it has a simple to use interface that sync's data with MFP. The device is slim, water-resistant and the band is light and sleek, I wear it 24/7 and forget it is on my wrist.…
  • I've been maintaining for over 2 years. Like the posters above, I will never stop counting calories. I realize counting calories is NOT an exact science, proven fact there are too many variables. Once you realize this counting and maintaining a reasonable calorie goal is easy and intuitive. Remember you are NOT on a diet…
  • If and I mean "if" I have a cheat day, I never go over my calorie limit. I just "eat this, not that!"... Eating right and maintaining weight loss is not a diet with cheat days... it is a life style change. Why go through the struggle to loose weight and fall back to old ways with cheat days? Everyone makes life choices and…
  • If you carry excess weight for many years (lets say 60-90 pounds for over 10 years), then lose 90 pounds... the combination of the extreme weight loss, severely stretched skin and age... yeah there will be drop! There is NO recovery unless you opt for surgical intervention. Trust me, there will be sag if you weigh 200…
  • When I started to near that 200 pound mark on the scale and my physician wanted to put me on diabetes medication. 196 pounds on my 5'4" frame finally pushed me to a diagnosis of Type 2 diabetic. Working in the field of diabetes for so many years, I knew I could "wipe out" that diagnosis with a change in diet and weight…
  • What a real success story! I see so many people complain about their diabetic condition and do nothing to make change. I too was diagnosed a Type 2, and reversed my diagnosis by eliminating virtually all sugar from my diet. So pleased to see you take charge.
  • I guess I am a little naive... I thought the software algorithms built into MFP derived their recommended daily amounts based on a recognized standard, not just 20% of their recommended caloric intake. I took things for granted and did not know that I had to question and verify their recommendations. I understand I can…
  • For me it was the lowest normal BMI combined with the nice round number of approximately 90 pounds lost. If I had any advice to someone just starting out on their weight loss adventure... that would be to weigh yourself at the start (I waited until 2 weeks in to weigh for the first time because I was afraid to get on the…
  • I see the scale fluctuate 1-2 even as much as 4 pounds depending on the time of day and food/fluid consumed during the day. I work with average weight and have learned through two years of maintenance not to stress with the fluctuation... this is not an easy lesson to learn or for the mind to accept when you feel the…
  • If you plan to toast your bread... try storing it in your freezer and thawing it before use... I can't tell any difference in frozen verses fresh when I toast it!
  • Looks like Aunt Millie's is a brand marketed in the Midwest... never see it out West here! That said, we have "Natures Harvest". At 40 calories and 6 grams of protein a slice it offers a great nutritional bread option. Not to mention, it tastes great too!
  • I wouldn't sweat 1/2 pound... I have been on maintenance for two years and weigh myself often. Because I weigh 105 pounds I have seen my weight fluctuate four pounds between morning and night simply based on the amount of fluid I drink and the density of the food I consume. This is not actual body weight because my body…
  • I won't settle! Been there, done that!
  • Down 89-90 pounds, maintaining for 2+ years and still going strong! 78% eat breakfast every day... Me, breakfast or brunch every day... check! 75% weigh themselves at least once a week... Me, daily... check! 62% watch less than 10 hours of TV per week... Me, eh NO! I love my TV! 90% exercise, on average, about 1 hour per…
  • I have to agree with the person I quote above... I buy a greater percentage of my clothes from Goodwill or other non-profit organizations. Many times I find them new, still with tags. Unless the original owner wears these items "commando" (seriously... who would want to exercise in work-out wear commando and bounce all…
  • Any scale is better than no scale... just like a little knowledge "can be" better than no knowledge. That said, I own a digital scale... accuracy and precision are two different things and there are variables in both digital verses dial... but based on my experience with calibration of weights and measures, I personally…
  • I was diagnosed as a Type 2 diabetic a few years ago and my doctor wanted to put me on medication. I told her absolutely NO and told her this I can get under control without drugs (like my Graves disease and high blood pressure). With a renewed knowledge of nutrition and nutritional labels I reversed (my doctor removed it…
  • A gallon of water weighs 8.3 pounds (see below for calculation on the weight of water)... imagine you weigh yourself, drink a bottle of water and then weigh yourself again (without expelling any water), there is your pound. I concur with all the other comments... what you saw on the scale was water retention. If you had a…
  • In my opinion, when someone calls you "Cute" they find you attractive, maybe not beautiful but still attractive! Not everyone can be beautiful... I would take it as an honest compliment, cute is not a bad thing! ;)

  • Just like Boffykins... if I feel hunger pains coming on and it is an hour or two before my next meal, I grab my pup's leash a pack of sugar-free gum or a handful of carrots and take him for a walk. It kills a little time, puts a nice break in my day all while burning a few calories!
  • Poison, Every Rose has it's Thorn... live version
  • If I am cooking, sauteed fish in onions (no butter, I use a sweet tea for moisture) with a side leafy salad. If I travel, then it is Subway... one of their less than 300 calorie 6" offerings...
  • I spray the pan with Pam (0 calories) add mushrooms at a high temp till they get brown, then I add a few tablespoons of a sweetened tea, like Wild Sweet Orange (0 calories) instead of water. Just a slight twist but the Orange Tea adds a nice flavor. I also agree about adding salt after they cook... much more flavorful
  • Totally agree! Statistics I believe have proven that walking in heals for long period of time will do damage... And yes, that gif is the funniest thing I've seen today!
  • Your goal should not be to diet... but to change your diet. Make it a lifestyle change. Once you see a measurable difference you will have that determination to never return to the old ways. After carrying nearly 200lbs on my 5'3.5" frame for almost a decade I lost 90lbs. Such a change is drastic, but seriously I have…
  • Two years on maintenance and I when I gain 3 pounds (water weight, mind you... the food I consume and at my current rate of calorie consumption, I know it is water weight gain) I feel fat and "jiggly"! I think that plays off the fact I carried 180 to 194 pounds on my small frame (5'3") for nearly a decade. I went from a…
