  • I lost 50lbs and 5 dress sizes. It took 2 years. Then I gained the 50lbs back and up 4 dress sizes. It sucks, I hate it. But I keep trying because I'm worth it. And like another person said, each time you try you retain a bit more. You can do this, you will do this. As long as you want it.
  • Don't feel alone. I am the same way with food. It is going to be a life long struggle. I would suggest therapy if that is an option. One thing I started doing is journaling. When I crave food or just want to eat a burger or something I write down what I want and why and how I think it will make me feel. Then if I choose to…
  • Evenings after 6 works for me or during the day on the weekends. How about for you?
  • I am. I live on the south side and have a dog so would prefer to bring him along.
  • Feel free to add me as well!
  • Thanks. Glad to be back. :)
  • Terwilliger sounds like a great idea. Let me know when and I will bring my dog too. He can be a bit of a jerk to other dogs but we are working on it.
  • Yes definitely rest or they won't heal. Also check to make sure your shoes are in good shape. If you aren't then buy new ones as it will make a huge difference. Make sure you stretch as well before your hikes. If you aren't sure how ask Mr. Google. :) I hope you feel better soon!!
  • Sadly I have to wait until the shin splints go away before I can try it out but I'm excited. I feel better knowing that my problem isn't just my problem that others have it too and it is fixable. :)
  • Thank you everyone. I really appreciate the feedback. I will try a different approach including paying more attention to my step. I know my shoes are okay (had them fitted) but I will try to get some help on the rest of it. In the meantime I am hoping the snow goes away and I can try running on the grass and dirt trails…
  • Congratulations on starting the journey. So many people don't and just wish for it to happen over night. As you probably know, it is going to be a long and tough road but if you really want it you can do it. I've been on my own journey for a couple of years now and I still struggle but that is life. Perhaps take that time…
  • I haven't bought anything in the size I want to be (8 or 10) but I have bought clothes that are too small for me. Typically I try on the size that fits me now and then buy it 1 or 2 sizes smaller so I know that when I get to that size it will look okay on me (with maybe a few adjustments). Every so often I will try things…
  • I use my inhaler before doing any cardio. I started off slow and took it easy and slowly on the advice of a trainer, doctor and allergist (my allergies are what cause my asthma) it is getting better and better. I hated cardio. I actually hated all exercise but now I love it. Or should I say I love the feeling I get when I…
  • I love sarcasm! Feel free to add me as well (this goes to anyone else in the thread looking for friends). 18lbs is awesome. You are doing great!!
  • I started my journey in November 2012. Since then I have lost 45lbs. After that it came off very slowly but it is still coming off. More quickly now that I have started to figure things out but in my opinion slowly is the way to go. I also don't look at the scale as much because I'm down 5 dress sizes so to me I'm losing…
  • Amazing. Congratulations on everything that you have accomplished. I can feel your energy and positiveness through your words. You are very much an inspiration.
  • Hi there. I'm 33. Living in Alberta Canada. Not married and no kids :( Feel free to add me as well and to anyone else looking for friends. I log in daily but don't always complete my diary or have it open. I'm off my schedule right now but working to get back on track with exercise.
  • Thank you. I needed to read something like this today as I'm on that downward slope but it is up to me to alter the course of my mood and life. I started to read all the comments and had to stop. What others think is of no difference to me. What you said may not help them but it has helped me. I hope you do not mind but I…
  • Feel free to add me as well!
  • First of all let me know good for you. Just keep going one day at a time. In the past I had times where I used alcohol to escape but thankfully I'm not in that place now and I can drink and not have a problem. I seldom get out of hand and almost always stay within my limits. Addiction runs in my family and I used to work…
  • 1. Originally from small town Saskatchewan. Population... maybe 500 if you include farmers. 2. Started in November 2011 at a size 26. Now at a size 18. 3. I constantly compare myself to others and wonder why I am not losing as fast as they are.
  • Thank you. How odd that the words from someone I have never met have made such a positive impact on me and my day. Wishing you the best day/week/month/year ever.
  • I wish I could fit into them! I would also look to see if there is a buy/sell facebook page for your neighbourhood. I know lots of ladies sell their gently used clothing on the one in my neighbourhood. It feels much safer than putting it on kijiji (in my opinion anyways).
  • It seems everyone who joins has the same comments. We try but it doesn't last very long.
  • Have you spoke to your doctor? There could be a few things that are the cause of your depression. I struggle with depression but part of that is from having an under active thyroid. I'm on medication to help with it. But here are a couple of things that I find help me when I'm in a depression. 1. Set my alarm and get out…
  • Thanks everyone for your responses. I know I am losing inches so I think for now I will focus on that instead of the scale. I think for the month of November I will put it away and weigh myself at the end of the month. One less thing to stress about or get emotional over is a good thing in my books. I appreciate the…
  • From what I found when doing some research, people who add strength training along with cardio don't tend to have as much of a problem with loose skin. Good job on what you have done so far. If you are concerned, check in with your doctor every few months to make sure everything is okay.
  • Of course you can but you have to want to make a change. I found the mental part to be the hardest. Eating smaller portions and getting active wasn't that difficult. Kicking my own butt so I continued when things didn't always go my way was harder. Start with small steps. Go for a walk a walk every day and get in at least…
  • Feel free to add me as well. I only have 1 friend on there. //www.fitbit.com/user/27M3G3
  • It didn't happen. Hoping we can try again soon though.
