Keep eating fruit!!! Mixed fruit like berries, banana & melon with 100g of soya yoghurt has been my breakfast for the last 3.5 years - and I have lost 90lbs in that time! I have recently started to mix things up a bit so that I don't get bored, some mornings I will have poached eggs or porridge oats but you can't…

I'm very similar to you Emily which is why I have to look at this thing long term. I felt myself starting to get obsessive again with the scale (I have hit a massive plateau!) so asked my fiance to hide it away from me and only let me weigh in again in a month's time - now I just have to make sure I don't use the scale at…

Way to go peeps - how to confuse someone in one simple thread!! I think the conclusion is that there is no right or wrong to this, only what works best for each individual - even calorie counting isn't an exact science, you just have to work out what's best for you and sometimes that just takes time! Good luck with…

I love this post!! When I changed my lifestyle 4 years ago I was obsessed with eating ONLY healthy foods after years and years of eating really badly. Now 90% of what I eat is really healthy and the rest I allow for a naughty treat ocassionally, it keeps me sane! I have to say though, because I had gotten so used to…

Yaaayyyy - well done!! Dumb question though, what is an NSV? :blushing:

Welcome and good luck! I had been losing weight very slowly for about 3 years and wanted to kick it up a notch so started to count my calories and writing them down daily in a book - then found MFP while looking for an app that showed calories for different foods. It's awesome and I love it - have lost 51lbs since…

ROFL - love it!!

That was precisely what I was going to suggest! Worked (and still works) for me, I have another 20lbs to go and when I'm feeling really low about how long it's taking or when I think I still look fat, I look at the photo of myself when I was at my heaviest (231lbs) and it works a treat. I have put together a page…

The best way to ripen an avo is to wrap it in newspaper and put it in a dark cupboard - works everytime! Just don't forget where you put it, like I do!

Lol, only now losing baby weight and my youngest is 21!!! Add me, I live in London :-)

This is such a great post, very encouraging - thank you so much!

My mum did something similar to my sisters and I when we were growing up, she didn't want us to have the same weight issues she had - unfortunately her 'plan' had just that effect! By 26 I was on diuretics, appetite suppresants and injecting myself with a growth hormone twice a week (to speed up metabolism), and only…

Hi Stephanie, I completely know where you're coming from - I have always been an all or nothing kind of girl and couldn't have just a small piece of chocolate without eating the whole slab etc etc! I started putting things in place about 4 years ago to change my lifestyle a little bit at a time and I found as time went on…

Definitely. I was always a UK size 4 but when I was at my heaviest I went up to a size 5 - after losing a total of 83 pounds in the last four years I have gone back down to my size 4's.

That is a great tip!! I love chick peas but always have them warmed up with some sauteed onion - will definitely be trying this :-)

HI Kimi, I say - keep doing what you're doing - I have read your profile and your motivation is right, you're doing this all for the right reasons and your kids will thank you for it one day. Just ignore the nay sayers and take encouragement from the positive comments you get. I understand a little of where you're coming…

Due to gallstones (lots of them!) I have cut all animal fat and protein out of my diet until I have my surgery so it's a real struggle to get the protein I need because even nuts set my gallbladder off. I try and have soya but have just recently started with Maximuscle Sculptress shakes - 32g of protein per portion and 176…

Thank you all for your wonderful comments, they really made me smile and reminded me of things that I'd forgotten or taken for granted. Keep up the hard work, you're all doing so great and it is so worth the effort!!

Hahahahaha - brilliant!!!

Lol, I love this!!! I never used to put any of my clothes in the dryer but now I do because as they're getting too big for me I don't care if they shrink anymore!!

Forgot to say, I am in the UK.

Hi, I'm with you on this one - I hate plain old water so I make sure I get in 8-10 glasses/cups of liquid a day by drinking herbal teas. Green teas are great, good for slimming and come in a variety of flavors. Red Bush tea (South African Rooibos) is also excellent and a great source of anti-oxidants. Red bush is naturally…

Well done! :-)) I know exactely how you feel, I had been classed obese for the last 10 years or so and when I recently got out of that category to just being overweight it was an awesome feeling - it really encourages one to keep going.

Hi, I don't know what the calories are for the Legs, Bums & Tums class but 60 minutes of Water Aerobics/Calisthenics is listed as being 266 calories. Hope that helps, good luck

My current favorite is a rice cake with a teaspoon of cashew nut butter and a sliced banana, next week it will be something else

Lol, I know exactly what you mean!! :-) The way I see it, even though you feel the weight loss is really slow, you're still losing and that in my book is what counts. It's a steady, healthy loss and means you won't put it back on again - also, it gives your skin time to adjust so you won't end up with loads of loose skin.…

Thank you for this comment, it's really good to see a different opinion on this theory :-)

I second this, I have arthritis in pretty much all my joints and since cutting out gluten (and alcohol) a couple of years ago the pain is not as severe. I also have IBS which flares up when I have any wheat/gluten based product.
