Hey! I was born and raised in Winnipeg, now live in Arizona. Had RnY in Feb-2012 and lost 120#, getting to goal weight and a normal BMI in about 10 months. Chose it because it is more restrictive, felt that I needed those physical reminders of overeating. Yes, I will need to take more vitamins including calcium for the…

Agree with the above suggestions, also string cheese, raw nuts such as almonds, hummus, also love the frozen original Fudgesicles (40 cals no sugar added).
-
Congratulations!! Follow your surgeon's guidelines for the best results!! Drink lots, walk lots and rest!!!

Everyone have a great day!! Very interesting to read where we all are from!

Originally Canada, now (thank goodness with the weather) Arizona!

I take a low dose over the counter potassium supplement because of my leg cramps. Works like a charm!

And by yogurt, I mean Greek plain. We werent allowed any sugar at all for the first few months to really break the craving. Mostly we only worried about texture and protein content. Fish, cottage cheese, plain greek yogurt, soft foods like that. .Phase 3: Soft, solid foods With your doctor's OK, after a few weeks of pureed…

I'm almost 2 years post RNY. I just looked back at my diary from the stage you are at, and I only ate a scrambled egg, maybe some yogurt and protein shakes each day. Soft pureed only. Absolutely no carbs (they have no nutrition at all). Doesn't your office follow you carefully by a nutritionist with strict diet plan?

I have thought about doing this also, had my surgery about the same time as you and weight loss and restarting the bad habits/similar results. Please update us during this test. For those that don't know: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/index.html

Excellent advice from all! Before I go to a restaurant, I always go on the restaurant's web site and find 2-3 entrees that fit my needs. (If you like ahi tuna, that is usually one of the lowest calorie/highest protein bangs for the buck that I find, along with simply grilled chicken breast or fish). Many have sections that…

I'm originally from Winnipeg, now live in Arizona. Had Gastric Bypass in Feb-2012, and wish I did it 15 years sooner! i agree that you need to research your surgeon, and be sure to find one you trust, then follow their advice. Feel free to add me as a friend!

Congratulations on the surgery! The site really doesn't adjust much for us bypasser's, other than you can go to My home, then Goals, then change goals and do a custom adjustment for say the lower amount of calories or the protein levels. No matter what, it will always say you are eating too few calories when you complete…

Yup. Just ate a 250 calorie Klondike Bar...

Hello all! Glad I found this group! I live just north of Desert Ridge! Have been here for more than 20 years, have an 18 year old and a 20 year old.

Amazing response! What an ignorant *kitten*! Would he also not recommend getting help for a heart condition? diabetes? depression? Alcoholism? All are diseases that need medical intervention, including obesity!

Love my morning cup of coffee! Also was told to stay off of caffeine for a few months out of surgery, now am told to replace every cup of caffeine with a cup of water.

These stories are all so personal and inspirational. Congratulations to each and every one of you. I had RNY on 2-13-12, and am at (actually a little below) my goal weight. I have had no complications, feel great and agree about the great SEX life that has been an unexpected side effect. I think it is just reflective of…

I have no problem getting in protein, not really sure why people spend so much $ on shakes etc. Personally, I would always rather chew my protein/calories than drink it!) I aim for 15 - 20 grams a meal, as my doctor recommends 60 - 75 a day. Don't want too much more than that or it is difficult for your body to handle. I…

My surgery was 2-13-12. Best decision of my life! Feel free to add me too!!

Beautiful before, beautiful, healthy and happy now! Many congratulations!!

I went back at work part time a week after laparoscopic RNY surgery. No complications at all. I am a speech therapist, so do no heavy lifting, just walking to patient's room pretty much. That said, the priority is to take care of yourself and be sure you are healing per your surgeon's recommendations. No reason to rush…

Have the ticker show every pound you have lost because no matter how you did it, you lost that weight and deserve the recognition! Congratulations on the surgery, and welcome to the club!

Your diary is marked private so there is no way for us to give you feedback. What about taking your diary to your surgeons office and have the nutritionist look at it?
-
Your BMI is 20.5 which is within normal, but on the low end. Still sounds super low for a man though.

Good for you! Anyone that has asked me how I have lost so much weight I have told. Its too hard to "lie" and then remember who knows and who doesn't. Besides, I am damn proud of myself for taking my obesity seriously enough to go under the knife, and I feel that I am setting a good example for the procedure by eating…
