is 135 healthy for 5'8" male

After reaching my 135 lb goal looking at myself in photos I think I look a bit thin, is 135 a healthy weight for being small framed. Having a small frame makes me look small anyway, don't know if I like the lanky look.

I'm 5'9", female and 160lbs. 135 at 5'8" is relatively small. I'd recommend gaining some muscle (heavy weight lifting, small-moderate calorie surplus).

    No.

I'm a 5'3 female and I weigh 130lbs. I'm also a womens size xs/s so I would say no. Any reason you picked 135 as your goal?

    That sounds tiny .

I lift but probably not heavy enough

originally I hired a personal trainer and he set that for me because he said my frame is very small and that I would be happy at that weight even with adding lean muscle
But after getting here don't know if that is right

I am 5'9" and 145 pounds. I think you could probably make some muscle gains?

Depends on your age. My bf is 5ft10in and weighs about 140. He is scrawny but eats like no other. He is lifting to build muscles. I suggest that.

Your BMI is 20.5 which is within normal, but on the low end. Still sounds super low for a man though.
  • You're probably in great shape at 5'8" and 135 pounds.

If you wanted to gain weight / muscle, I think it would be more for vanity/athletism more than for general health.

I don't know if they are looking at your pictures, but you look healthy to me. I actually agree that your frame seems small because you look a bit muscular/tone, yet your legs are small. You could lift if you want to add a bit of pounds and just eat more. xo

P.S. No, you don't look scrawny at all in my opinion and your arms look fairly muscular.

You could gain some lean muscle. But, that would just involve heavy lifting and eating a little more.

What is your body fat %? The weight doesn't mean a lot without knowing your BF.

    i was 133lbs at a around 5'8" maybe 5'9" so....i hated that i thought i was skinny...i still think i am skinny haha
I'm eating tons and lifting heavy for my 2nd bulk now...currently at 157lbs.
  • That's true it would be more for vanity because I feel really good and healthy now

154 is the lowest healthy weight for your height on one chart I looked at.
But frame size matters. If you feel too skinny, lift HEAVY weights and eat at a surplus.

I don't know if it's healthy, but I wouldn't date a guy that small. Even when I was at my goal weight -- I've gained weight since then, obviously -- when I dated a guy of a similar weight, I felt he was awfully small and I wasn't comfortable doing... well, extracurriculars with him.

I'm a small-framed woman, 5'6", and don't look half-bad at 135. Seems mighty slender for a taller male. As another poster suggested, if you feel really healthy, then focus on weight training to bulk up some. You'll need to eat more, but if work hard, you'll look great and probably feel even better.

I don't know why ladies are comparing, you're supposed to be heavier than us (T and A)

If your picture is current you don't look to small or scrawny.

no, with same height males and females, the male is supposed to weigh more as a general rule.

    Males are more dense

(in more way than one sometimes...lol)

*just kidding, before someone gets butthurt. I love men. ♥

Your like the size of my bf, he's about 5'10 and just over 140 lbs. Hes pretty skinny. I would say bulk up a bit!
  • I need to update my pic its around 10 lbs heavier
  • If you feel healthy (and a doctor would agree), it's fine. There's no one healthy weight for someone of any height. Don't gain weight just because some people on the internet say you're too skinny based on their aesthetic tastes or some BMI chart.

That does sound awfully thin for a man. In high school, when I was fit and slim, I weighed 136 and only 5'4" (not to mention being a girl)

If you feel you are too skinny, then start a weight lifting program.

I am a 5'3" female and weigh 131 lbs. So, I would say you should probably try to gain some muscle at least.

And you're an MU Tigers fan. So you're good to go!

How is your height and weight at all related to how much he should weigh? It isn't.
