  • BTW some of us have been gluten free long before it was a fad. I first eliminated gluten 25 years ago. It was not easy to eat gluten free then. thank goodness it is much easier now.
  • I can certainly believe this. My symptoms are milder than yours and therefore I recover faster. When I first suspected a food sensitivity, I eliminated all possible trigger foods for 3 weeks before slowly adding them back in one at a time. When I reacted to a food, I eliminated it again and gave myself a week without it…
  • They also wonder why participants still experienced distress when both gluten and FODMAPS were removed but many gluten sensitive people will tell you that once their system is aggravated by gluten, it takes time for it to return to normal even if gluten is removed. For me, it usually takes 3-4 days of gluten free eating to…
  • Lactose intolerant means that you can't digest lactose. The result is foul smelling gas, loose bowel movements, vomiting, etc. If gluten produces the same symptoms, you would naturally consider yourself to be gluten intolerant. Seems like a simple conclusion.
  • Well, I am assuming that you avoid taco bell or protein if that is what those food do to you. Either that or you avoid social interaction due to your foul small. I, on the other hand, avoid gluten. Seems like common sense to me.
  • Well, I am not celiac but I can prove that I am gluten sensitive but the foul smelling gas that is emitted from my bowels when I eat gluten .... take my word for it or come visit after a cheat ... your choice :-)
  • Interesting .... I have similar stats 5"2 140ish and just getting back into running (did insanity most of last year instead) .... currently at 5 k working my way up hopefully to 10 k by fall and then on from there .... interested in reading upcoming posts

  • Immediately after eating what I am "allowed" (from proportioning) I brew a cup of tea and sip it. By the time it is done, I feel full. I especially like Bengal Spice tea from celestial Seasonings because it tastes sweet but has no sugar or artificial sweeteners and it is caffeine free.
  • Also, Happy Mother's Day back at you :-)
  • Thank you! I am proud to say that even after my son served me breakfast in bed and I took my mom out for lunch, I only went over by 62 cal and I still worked out!! Feeling good this Mother's Day.
  • Yes last year when I was doing insanity, I did not lose weight and my thighs got bigger :-0 but my stomach was flatter, my arms were stronger and more toned. I was STRONG and felt good! Due to a change in work situation, I fell off the insanity cart but am still working out. Maybe I will get back to insanity soon :-)
  • I am doing full plate but also keeping carbs from grains down because grains do not suit me well. I get my fibre from veggies, fruits, beans, lentils and nut/coconut flour. I do eat a few Mary's seed crackers which are brown rice, quinoa and flax seed.

  • Are you still on this? I am trying to keep my fibre up, too and am interested in the Full Plate diet. I am proned to diabetes (was borderline when pregnant) and have a heredity of bowel cancer so fibre is my friend.
  • If you are a healthy weight and fit then embrace your gene rather than fighting them. I, too, will never have skinny thighs and when I do intense workout like Insanity, my thights just get bigger (Yikes!) but you can still look very attractive with largish thighs. I think those whole tend to carry their weight around their…

  • Tell me what are the symptoms of pre-diabetes. I eat low carb because carbs 1) make me want to sleep 2) make me feel sluggish in the morning and ravenous as well Diabetes runs in my family and I was borderline gestational diabetic.

  • Yes, when I was in my teens, gluten gave me migraines. In my late twenties, when the headaches disappeared, I went back on gluten ... big mistake ... now, in my forties, I cannot tolerate gluten or dairy. they give me significant digestive issues and from my reading I now realise I am probably lactose intolerant because of…

  • I have been doing Insanity 3x per week for about 7 weeks now and other varying workouts about 2x per week. Have not lost any weight but have seen lots of toning in my arms. Today, though, I really noticed how toned my calves are. Quite a difference. I know my abs are toned, too but they are covered in about 10-15 lbs of…
  • I guess I am in a different stage of life here. My two are both teens so I work out in the am while they are still sleeping in on Saturday morning but I do remember those early years. Of course I still find my own excuses. Since I work 50% from home, there is always work looming over me even on Saturday. I have to force…
  • One pan with made with the 2 cups of flax seed cut into 16 bars would yield per bar, 187 cals, 7 g protein, 8 g carbs, 15 g fat. Seeds of course are not low cal but the carbs in this would be mostly fibre and they would also be very nutrient dense and filling.
  • Good to know. I would be a bear if I was down that low in carbs though :-/
  • I know but the Insanity group promotes a calorie breakdown of 50% protein, 30% carbs, 20% fats for maximum fat burning. I am probably running closer to 40:23:35
  • So many gluten free alternatives have no fibre. Here is a great fibre filled recipe. Gluten Free Flax Seed Bread Ingredients: •2 cups flax seed meal •1 Tablespoon baking powder •1 teaspoon salt •5 beaten eggs •1/2 cup water •1/3 cup oil Preparation: Preheat oven to 350 F. Prepare pan (a 10X15 pan with sides works best)…
  • If the only ingredient is cream then butter is not processed just churned.. If you take cream and put it in your food processor you will get butter too. Is that considered processed?
  • I worked out all last year with only 10 lbs to lose and lost nothing. The harder I worked out the harder it seemed to lose but I did enjoy the definition and I had resolved myself to the fact that noe, at 43, I just could not lose that last 10 lbs Then I tried a new fitness plan - interval cross training. Constantly…
  • Here is my green smoothy in a Magic bullet (~2 cup blender) one large handfull of baby spinach 2 tbsp ground flax seed apple/banana or other fruit unsweetened vanill almond milk to the top I have found the key to success for me 5'3" over 40 with only a small amount to lose is to have a mixed berry smoothie for breakfast,…
