I give up. Nevermind, be as small as you want no matter your height. I'm going to go off and think of fond memories of a wonderful friend who literally killed herself from anexoria/bulimia. Don't bother replying.

OK, no biggie. In my mind, I wasn't really trying to compare ANY tiny bit over 5'4" as for sure being unhealthy. Just using my daughter's height as my point of reference. In my mind, I was thinking I was expressing that a 5'9" person (my height) trying to be a 0 would be risking their health. But, didn't want to…

I think part of it depends on your height. My daughter is 5'4" and wears a 2 or a 4. She is thin, but curvy for her age. I would not want to see her any thinner than she is. So, if a person is about that tall, or a little shorter, then a size 0 or 2 would be doable. But, if you are any taller, you just might be risking…

someone must. I'm guessing they are counting everything they put in their mouth.

In America, we have "English Muffins" which I believe are just "muffins" in England. We have something totally different we call "muffins." Anyone know what those are in England?

I've always considered "cooties" to be an imaginary, invisible bad thing. Kinda like the "boogey man." I suppose it could be germs or lice or something like that too. But, I remember as a child playing a game where the girls chased the boys and tried to touch them. If that happened, the girls would "give the boys their…

Yesterday, this dude at my gym was on the treadmill sideways. You could adjust the speed to whatever you wanted. Would prob work endurance too.

That is F---ing awesome! You look great!

I haven't read all of the responses, so sorry if this has already been mentioned. But, if you prefer a mostly vegan/vegetarian diet, why not slowly progress in that direction? As you do so, you might find that the right fit is totally vegan or somewhere in between. My step-mother is experimenting with a "vegetarian" diet…

I was... uhm... getting romantic with my wife. For some reason, this time, it was really noticeable that I could wrap my arms all the way around her. I mean, we hug each other all the time, but, for some reason, this weekend, our combined weight loss really stood out.

I'm a little negative on the topic. I'm not convinced that an individual learns proper eating habits after the surgery and is therefore at risk of gaining the weight back. One example is one of the singers from Wilson Phillips, I just saw on some show that she had gastric bypass, gained the weight back, then a lap-band and…

I love it too. Especially when I look like a drowned rat when I leave the gym.

The funny thing about the African-Americans cast in those two roles... When I read the discriptions, I kinda figured they were a "minority" or since it is set in the future, mixed race. They were described as having dark brown skin... So I didn't understand why so many people were upset about it. An "African-American"…

I can't speak for the OP, but I live near Mexico. You can pretty much get anything without a prescription. And, if you do need a prescription, you can easily find a doctor that will write one for whatever you want...
-
What everyone else said. You are solely responsible for ensuring your good health. A doctor is a tool, like a hammer. Sometimes you need different tools to do different jobs. Would you trust your PCP to do open heart surgery? If I were you, I would get a list of specialists. Be totally honest with your doctors on the…

what about yard work or mowing lawn? Not to diss on housework, but doing yard work tires me out more and I would think with carrying equipment around it would be a little more strenuous than housework (which I see as more of a pure cardio thing)

There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't.

I had the one touch ultra for years. My only complaint was the cost of test strips. I went to my pharmacy and looked for the cheapest test strips. Then I bought the meter that went with them. Depending on your insurance, if your doctor writes a prescription, you can get some test strips for free or your medication co-pay.…

How are we going to pay for all this stuff?

If you can afford it, go to walmart and buy a dumbbell where you can add weights as needed. Personally, I'm of the philosophy that cheaper is better. Then 2 buy the smallest weights (2.5 lbs at my walmart) and 2 of the next size up (just so you don't have to keep running back to get a good starting amount). You can build…

This used to be touted as a diet from the "Mayo Clinic." I tried it once about 15 years ago. I couldn't get through the first day! I had to go get "real" food. But, if I remember correctly, the soup is pretty good, so I think if you follow your basic meal plan and use the soup recipe as a part of it, you'd be fine.

Olives and avocados are also high in "healthy" fat. Not sure what fits in best with Indian food though.
-
For me, healthy fats like avocado helps reduce hunger. Also, eating sugar increases my hunger, so I try to avoid it as best as I can.
-
If I have to get fast food, I go to Subway. 6" turkey on wheat with cheese and I add avocado instead of any mayo/sauces. I think it comes out to about 350 cal, but I'll double check and edit my post. Edit: 400 calories.

Type 2, diagnosed about 4 years ago. Not exactly sure what changed to get me motivated to improve my health, but I am now. 3 months ago, A1c 6.5, Now 5.5, reduced Metformin from 500 2x a day to once a day. Hoping to get off eventually, but doing it with doctor's input. Cholesterol was bad. 3 months ago total: 205,…

Sometimes, I put in my anticipated exercise earlier in the day to see how many calories I'll have to work with and then adjust after I do the actual workout. I don't eat all of the calories before the workout. And I generally allow for about 100 extra calories for dinner (after workout) if I know I'll be working out hard.…

and now we know why people keep their diaries private...

How about adding 1/4 avocado to your salad? More calorie dense, but healthy fat in them.
