  • Agreed! It was the end of the school year and I was just not making it a priority. This week was our anniversary so we ate out for that too.
  • The exercise isn’t new but I went from doing it like three times a week to every day. I have a food scale but use it for just meats essentially...do you recommend using it for everything?
  • Thanks guys! Especially the recommendations for the belt. That’s what I guess I was wondering the most...a belt with or without water. My routes are in rural areas so not really any water stops.
  • I'm kinda going through the same thing. I've lost 50 pounds and am currently a size 8. I range anywhere between 141-145. I'm pretty happy with myself, but would like to improve on my running and start working more with weights. My original goal was 135, but I'm maintaining pretty easily here and don't know if I could at…
  • If you're running I would definitely go get fitted the first time buying shoes. Then you'll at least know if you need extra support or not. I run in Saucony Cortanas and love them. As far as shin splints go, I think it's possible to get them whether you have the right shoes or not when you're first starting out. You're…
  • I have a bunch of songs from fun., The Format, and No Doubt. I'm really stuck on Nate Ruess right now. I also listened to The Who, Fall Out Boy and Imagine Dragons this morning on my run.
  • I don't always feel great while I'm running. Usually it's the accomplishment afterwards. When I posted before it was after I got back from speedwork. One thing I have learned, is that it's not always enjoyable while you're doing it, but it is so worth the feeling you get afterwards. If you keep that in mind it makes it…
  • Saucony Hurricane 14s. They're stability running shoes. I've tried others, but nothing works for me like these do. But it all depends in what you want to use the shoes for I guess.
  • Thanks for the ideas! I have a friend that I run with sometimes, but our schedules don't match a lot so it makes it hard to plan. I do carry pepper spray on me sometimes for loose dogs. I live in a relatively quiet neighborhood, but for some reason, a lot of people around here just let their dogs roam the yard then charge…
  • After I run I don't try to keep hunger at bay. Once I calm down enough and drink some water, I eat!
  • Okay. I was just wondering, so I'm glad I asked. I guess I'm trying to get myself to eat cleaner ( I just ate a bunch of pita chips because I'm bored) but it seems I need some sort of goal to work towards. I've stalled out and I'm trying to figure out what to do next.
  • I don't drink anywhere enough. I'm a teacher, so bathroom breaks are rare. I'm lucky if I get two during the day. :/
  • These screenings are done once a year and not at every grade level. So it's not like schools are keeping constant track of weight either. I'm not sure how they decide at what age to weight them and do the other screenings, but this isn't constant. I don't think a lot of people know how this works and are blowing it way out…
  • I agree with you on the chin ups and stuff. I wish they would have the rest of the class doing another activity and pull kids over one-by-one to do that. I hated doing that stuff in front of others...especially in middle school.
  • Typically these types of letters are not handed to the kid with the message "Hey, you're fat." That's not how it works. These letters usually go home enclosed in an envelope for the parents to read. The letters do not call kids names. Most kids (like the 4 year old) do not know what obese means. It's not in their…
  • It really is! We have some absolutely amazing parents that take wonderful care of their children. Then there are those that you wonder how long it's been since they have bathed their kids. Last year, after the dental screenings, the kids each got a tooth brush. One little girl was so excited to get one. I asked her if she…
  • I'm a teacher and the school that I work at sends these notes home. The school does dental, vision, hearing, and weight screenings. I think it's provided more for parents who can't afford/don't take their kids to the doctor or just have no knowledge of good health. Sad but true. If you don't agree with it, throw it away…
  • Hmmmm interesting. Maybe I will just push through since I'm on a break from work for Thanksgiving. I run regularly, but I know that this uses completely different muscles and more muscles than running. I like the soreness because I feel that I've done something, but my goodness lol :)
  • Thanks. I know that it makes sense to take a break, but it's just that fear of losing what I've accomplished with running. I run 5ks with a friend and I'm already slower than her, I don't want to make myself any slower :) I love the idea of taking a break and coming back stronger.
  • You're going to get a lot of opinions on this one. As far as I understand it, if you have your profile set to sedentary, then you should eat back your exercise calories. Especially if you're at the lower end of the limit like 1200 calories a day. If you already have your settings at lightly-active or active then it's kinda…
  • I've been logging it as circuit training too. However, today I got my HRM so I used what it told me.
  • Bump because I'm leaning towards buying one and I want to know how accurate they are too...and if they are really worth the money.
  • Thanks for the advice everyone! I'm putting my profile back on private now...I'm protective...lol.
  • We have salad mix and pineapple in the fridge. I just ate a small salad and some pineapple. Having people point it out to you can be motivating. lol
  • Dually noted. I haven't been eating the best I guess. My husband has been working a super amount of overtime and I don't see the point in cooking for just me...that's why you see the peanut butter and jelly and things like that.
  • Holy crap...I didn't realize I ate 7000 mg of sodium. Maybe this really is my issue...I look at it, but i guess not closely enough. Thanks for pointing that out.
  • I've noticed this too. The last couple of days I've been eating out some, and even if I eat healthy, they pack so much sodium into everything. :( That could be it.
  • Yeah mine runs every time I run. Never fails. And it's not thick stuff, just enough to bother me while I'm trying to breathe through my nose. I used to carry a tissue but it would end up getting sweaty and yucky. So you know what? I pull my shirt collar up and blow on the inside of my shirt. Yes it sounds gross, but so…
  • I have Saucony Guide 5s to run in. And I love them!
  • I love running. So I guess I'm in big trouble.
