  • I would think AT LEAST 2,000 calories. Personally, during my three pregnancies, I never left myself get hungry. I don't feel it is good for me or my growing baby to feel like I'm not eating enough. Yes, I could have made better choices (ice cream just wouldn't leave me alone) and will next time around. Hopefully someone…
  • How long do you give the calorie fluctuations to work? You might need to up your calories and give it at least a week or two to see how it works.
  • My fitness goal for now is to be able to run with our baby in the jogging stroller and keep up with my older two on their bikes. The baby isn't even old enough to be in it yet so I am just walking a lot while wearing him and using the elliptical to get myself in shape while he gets a bit older. My other goal is to be super…
  • I weigh 120 but can't fit into the clothes I wore at 125 back when I was an athlete. I am what was just mentioned as "skinny fat". However, I do have a 6 month old baby. Hopefully I will be back to a healthy size & weight, even if the weight is up from where I am now, in a few months.
  • My MFP "Goal" is 1220 (I think). I breastfeed and add 500 for that. Then I exercise and get calories from that. I usually end up eating around 2,000 calories a day. If you look in my food diary, some days are off because of traveling or my mom taking us out for a meal. For the most part though, my calories sit around 2,000…

  • I am very new to all this and enjoy reading threads such as these. This is a calculator I found a few days back and messed around with a bit: http://calorieline.com/tools/tdee If you want to find your current TDEE at different levels of activity, enter your current weight as your goal weight.
  • I eat all.the.time. Breakfast Morning Lunch Afternoon Supper (or Dinner?) Evening Then I just put whatever I eat in those times. Like today, I had three seperate snacks in the afternoon. However, I didn't eat breakfast because I was on Skype with my husband all morning. Facts or not, I feel awesome eating all the time and…
  • I try to eat back 1,000+ calories but sometimes I just can't get them all in. I usually eat back at least 800 of them and have been losing weight up until today. I went up but I think it is water retention thanks to a bruised midsection from hooping 40 minutes my very first time two nights ago. I just made my diary Public…
  • I think you are doing right by your sons. We have three boys and I am proud that they know about healthy eating and exercise. If I get myself a little unhealthy treat, they point out that it isn't healthy. I don't think they will ever obsess over body image because they have such a great start to healthy lives.
  • I'm looking at the Polar website and they all just look like watches. Do they also come with a chest strap option? Thanks for all the help!
  • They figure you are walking super slow while pushing the stroller.
  • Awesome! Being able to breastfeed with it on is a huge plus. Do you have a recommendation for one? Thank you.
  • I'm EBF my 6 month old and will EBF until he is 12 months. I put 500 calories in as an exercise and make sure to eat all those back. On top of that, I do the elliptical for 30-60 minutes a day and walk whenever we can. I eat around 2,000 calories a day, but don't Net that. My net is usually around 1250 by the end of the…
  • How often do you nurse? I think you should set your goal at 1700 (the 1200 plus 500 to produce milk for your little one). Then workout to eat more. That is what I'm doing and I've been on a steady losing streak for the last 17 days (when I started MFP).
  • Had to go find it. I just used it today to figure how much I burned wearing my 20 lb guy while walking the dog. http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc ETA: The "Push Stroller With Child" figures it for a very slow pace. When I push my 4 year old, I add it to my amount burned walking the speed. Not sure if that is the…
  • Add the 9 lbs to your weight and figure how much you burn pushing the stroller at that weight. You may have to use an outside calculator to figure it but then just enter it as your own exercise.
  • I think coming off the pills will give you headaches. Just like stopping any long term medication or food, your body gets used to it and then suffers when you stop.
  • awesome! I love it being light out later at night. I love my 7 year old sleeping in a little later because the sun isn't in his windows as early. It is so nice to get home from his karate and it still being light enough to do stuff outside.
  • If you are wanting to figure out food calories, here is how I figure my calories eaten before breastfeeding. I have my "Goal" of 1250. Then I enter Breastfeeding in as 1 minute of exercise that burns 500 calories (500 because I am EBF a big 6 month old boy). So then I have 1,750 calories I can eat. I try to workout between…
  • I believe, and I'm no pro or expert, that your body needs 1360 to keep going- breathing blood pumping, etc.- while sitting still all day Then with all you do- walking, cleaning, exercising, etc.- you burn 2210. 1970 is possibly your maintenance. My maintenance is approx 1750, BMR is 1284, and TDEE is 2096 (with 2-3X…
  • You could eat 2,000 calories if you burn off 800 by working out each day. I agree with a previous poster that if you only have 7 to lose you should lower the amount lost each week. I have 7 left to lose and I have it set to 1 lb a week, but I'm still taking in 2,000 calories and working off to get back down to the NET goal.
  • Here is a TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) Calculator: http://www.fitnessfrog.com/calculators/tdee-calculator.html Here is MFP's BMR (Basic Metabolic Rate) Calculator: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmr-calculator They are two different things, obviously, but it is a good place to start. There are so many different…
  • I've only been at it officially for a couple weeks, but I'm only doing elliptical (a mini one). I get it on it daily for 30-60 minutes. I don't plan on doing any weight training right now. We plan on having one more kid after my husband is home from deployment so I will wait until after that to bust my *kitten* to build…
  • Eat more and exercise more. My goal MFP has set for me is 1250. Yea right! Consuming 2,000 makes me fairly happy by the end of the day. I just make sure that I exercise, including breastfeeding, enough to get back down below my goal. I've lost 5.2 lbs in 15 days, and I've even gone 500+ over a few of those days.
  • Go find other calculators to double check your calorie need if you think you are high or low. Even if you are under 100 lbs and lead a sedentary lifestyle, you still need 1200 calories just to keep your body going every day. My Net sometimes ends up below 1200, but I eat close to 2,000 per day. Don't know the rules about…
  • I'm with everyone else: whenever you want. I stay at home with our three kids, two of which are homeschooled. I fit my elliptical time in whenever I can. It may be 10 minutes or I might get a good 30-45 done. All that matters to me is that I get it done before bed.
  • My boys & I have movie night on Fridays so I treat myself to a nice big brownie or something similar. However, I still try to keep everything within my limits. I weigh most days (naked in the morning like most everyone else) but only record once or twice a week. I have only gone over a few days since starting, and those…
  • Also, muscle weighs more than fat. Cardio will burn fat and then weight training will build muscle, therefor your weight will keep going up and down.
