I wouldn't worry about eating any apple! It is good for you.

Ok...embarrassing but I used to go "commando" so my pants wouldn't be too snug, now I have to wear undies so that the pants don't fall down...did I really just admit that:)

Proud that good (nutritious) food tastes good again. At my high weight and bad habits I had no desire for fruit and salad. Now they are yummy!

I think that saving up cals may set you up for a binge. I know it would for me. You are better off eating normal, have your fun in a reasonable way, then get back on the wagon. Have a great time! No regrets. We all deserve some fun with all this hard work.

My husband claims to be supportive of my new lifestyle, but he will leave a bag of chips open in front of me and go through the evil drive-thru with me in the car. He will also say "should you be eating that ..." at which point I tell him to...well, take a flying leap is putting it nicely. I told him that his job is to say…

I too love the Skinny Cow chocolate truffle ice cream bars for 100 cals. Creamy, chocolatey and delicious!

Weekly weight loss goal of 1.5 lbs. This allows me 1250 cals/day. Itry to burn 400 cals/day with exercise, and I usually eat all of my excercise cals. I have lost 9 lbs in 6 weeks, so I think mfp is right on target with it's calculations. Good luck!

A mug of hot apple cider with cinnamon, toast with peanut butter. Very comforting.

I am really impressed that so many of you vampires can go work out after your shift! I feel like I can barely stay awake for the ride home. I'm sure the gym would be a total disaster...probably some bad elliptical accident, or mistaking the yoga mat for a mattress:)

Well said!

Good luck! I think you do start to feel better just by making the commitment. I'm finally starting to see that this is a lifelong process. I will never be "done". I'm thankful for this night shift thread. It's really nice to have a forum where you can discuss the craziness that is night shift. Good luck with your first…

Deep sigh...another night shift last night followed by a day of carb craziness. I guess I should be thankful that I only do nights a couple of times a month. The difference now is that I will not consider this a failure, but simply part of a process, and I will continue to find ways to manage shift work (any suggestions…

I definitely eat my exercise calories. I have a difficult time staying ,UNDER my goal of 1250 cals/day (it seems like many people using mfp say they have a hard time eating ENOUGH to achieve their target calories/day) but anyway, it's only on days that I exercise that I am able to stay under target calories. I usually burn…

I have that problem too! I get hungry after dinner (which is usually my biggest meal). sometimes for dessert I will have a skinny cow ice cream. Sometimes I actually just go to bed to keep from eating.

My old dial scale was not accurate. It was weighing me about 3 - 5 lbs less than the digital. Plus my aging eyes had a hard time seeing the numbers. I think a moderate priced digital is the way to go. there can be some variation from one measure to the next, but I think overall they are more accurate. I think mine will…

I too love cooking and complex flavor, but I try not to micromanage the calories. If I'm not sure of the exact calorie count, I err on the high side and that makes me more careful for the rest of the day. I also think that the more time you spend with this program, the more accurate your count becomes. Don't count parsley…

This sounds amazing!

Thank you for your support! I think part of my problem working nights is that I only do nights about twice a month. Not enough to establish a good pattern. I to wander the ward constantly. I must be burning something off! Night shift is a lonely job in many ways. It's nice to know others have the same experience. I' d talk…

I do think it is fun. Just another excuse to play with my ipad! Of course on a bad food day...it's not so fun. Glad I found MFP.

I am a nurse practitioner, 45 years old and work occasional nightshift 7p to 7a. Mentally and physically demanding. Anyway, I'm pretty good on my off days, but the night shift kills my forward momentum every time. Despite bringing healthy food to work, I am compelled to eat lots of carbs (bad ones) either to stay awake or…
