Accurate Food logging
I successfully lost 25 lbs with MFP 2 years ago. 10 have crept back on, so I am back to logging to keep myself honest. I am finding logging my cals a bit frustrating and here is why. I regularly concoct my own recipes depending on what I have in stock. I will use leftovers from last night to make a completely different…

The Biggest Loser
I occasionally tune in to this show, but it bugs me sometimes. Like this week when Jillian had a meltdown because 2 of the contestants could not run for five minutes. I personally am not a runner. I think that I am quite fit. I do power yoga, Barsculpt, biking, horseback riding, resistance training, TRX, and can pound on…

Hot power yoga and cals burned
I am having trouble replacing the battery in my polar F4(?) HRM. Was wondering if any of you hot yogis wear an HRM during practice, and how many cals are you burning? Knowing of course that individuals vary, but I just want a ballpark figure. If I didn't burn 500 today, I would be shocked:)

Body fat determination
At my gym, they have a gadget that estimates body fat percentage. You enter your age, height and weight, then you grip short handlebars, and it gives you supposed BF %. You are not standing on anything, just gripping the handles. Anyone know how accurate this gadget is. Frankly, I was disappointed with the number it gave…

Posture...then and now. Yoga question
I have been slouching (literally) for most of my life (I'm 47). My yoga instructor is really helping me to keep my shoulders back and my shoulder blades down, and I think I am making progress. What I want to know is, is it possible anatomically to reverse so many years of poor posture. Can I retrain muscle and bone to…

Illness and exercise
Just curious. Who out there exercises when you are sick with a cold? I was feverish the last couple of days, but maybe better today. If I go to the gym, I promise to wipe the equipment thoroughly:)

To log, or not to log...
In a nutshell. I've been on MFP for 1 year. I reached my goal weight and then some. My weight has not fluctuated more than 2 lbs in either direction in months, which seems like pretty successful maintenance to me. I also cleaned up the eating pretty well (knowing full well there is always room for improvement) I have…

Mmmmmmmm protein!
Both my neighbor and MFP friends have been praising the benefits of protein smoothie drinks. My husband is also a fan. I have not jumped on the smoothie train until today. I bought a 4 pak of chocolate muscle milk on a lark the other day. I put 1 carton in the blender with one banana and 3/4 cup of…

Never apologize for your success!
I don't post many topics here, but this has been crawling under my skin for a couple of days now, and I knew my mfpeeps would understand. I purchased some new, cute workout gear as a reward for my hard earned weight loss/ fitness. I have a friend that goes to my gym that finds it necessary to make snide comments about my…

Scales that measure body fat percentage
Hi everyone! Does anyone have any experience with scales that measure body fat as well as weight? Are they accurate, and how can it make that determination? Are they expensive? I'm happy with my weight and now more interested in fine tuning. Thanks friends!

Musings on my new Polar FT4 HRM
just tried my new HRM yesterday and here's my review. Monitor fits and works well. Some of the cardio machines at my gym (particularly life fitness machines) are compatible with the polar HRM which means that you don't have to grab the hand grips of the machine in order for the machine to continuously display your HR. Just…

Time to show off!
Ok MFPeeps! It's time to unveil the fruits of my labor ( no, sorry, no pics). Looking to don that bikini in the Florida Keys. Anyone have any recommendations for a family type resort/destination in the Keys? Suitable for me, the hubby and 10yo daughter. We like activity, water sports and such. Thanks friends!

Fat had one benefit
I love my new lifestyle and bod and wouldn't change it for anything, but fat did do one thing for me... It kept me warm! I live in the northeast and also have reynauds phenomenon (spastic blood vessels in fingers and toes). Since I have dropped weight, I am freezing, and the Raynauds is worse than ever. At the risk of…

Maintanance question for the gang
Hi everyone. I reached my goal of 145 and then decided I would go for 140. Now I am at 140 and may try for 135 (still healthy BMI). My question is: Is it more difficult to maintain a lower weight once I am there? Will I be able to eat 1500-2000 cals a day and maintain a lower weight? I am thrilled with where I am, but i'm…

Kettle bells...what do I do with this thing?!
Hi everyone, I got a 15 lb kettle bell for Christmas, and I am looking for a good, fun kb workout DVD preferably with some music. Anyone out there know of anything?

Book list
i like to read books on fitness/ nutrition. I read Omnivores Delima...loved it, read Skinny *****...hated it. Any book recommendations out there?

My right to bare arms!
So, my trainer lady at the gym made me a new strength training routine. This includes working my biceps, triceps, and shoulders so much that it feels as though I have had several IM injections in each arm (you all have had your flu shot right?) so rather than whine about the pain, I will parlay this into a new goal...BARE…

Over my cals....Again!
Hi all, Just venting some mild frustration. It seems that more dAys than not, I am 1-300cals over my target cals. I generally eat all exercise cals. I am set at 1200 cals (I think this is the min that mfp will recommend). I feel like I eat pretty "clean", and I am happy with my 14 lb loss in 9 weeks. I feel like I read…

Hi
Hi, I'm JBug. Just started using MVP and like it. The more I use it, the better and mor accurate it gets. Anyway, I am a nurse practitioner 45 years old. Unfortunately I still have to work the occasional night shift which requires much mental and physical energy from 7 am to 7 pm. I'll be right on track with cals and…
