  • Barbell rows are good. Also check out inverted rows. They may be what you are looking for.
  • First and foremost: Give a Damn! About yourself, your health, those that care about you, your long term goals and dreams. Don't quit yourself and those that care about you. That is all far more important than the passing satisfaction of eating whatever food craving that will push you over to giving up.

  • The basics Food Stuff for strength training: Yes, eat back the exercise calories. Your body uses them for recovery. Depleted/weak muscles can't work. Up your protein intake. Ballpark 1 gram of protein for each pound you want to weigh. You can set your macro nutrients to something like 35%protein, 35% carbs, 30% fats to get…

The body reminded me though, so you don't have to. So the workouts are at a lower intensity right now as the foot recovers. Have a great weekend guys.
  • hip thrusters, definitely hip thrusters.
  • Since you are at the gym, lift weights on your non-cardio days. It will promote muscle retention. That should help somewhat with the loose skin issue. Stonglifts, Starting Strength, or The New Rules of Lifting for Women would be great resources. Losing at a reasonable rate (1 to 2 lbs a week for now, at the 50lb pound to…
  • A. use the strength training under the cardio section to generally track the cross fit burn. B. Just do cross fit on the cross fit days. C. Up your protein if you are not already doing so. The guideline is basically 1 gram per pound of desired weight. Adjust your macros to help with it. Don't be surprised if you actually…
  • In regards to weight loss, as long as it burns calories it is good. Cardio vs. resistance training is the wrong way to look at it. They serve completely different functions when it comes to improving your overall fitness level. You need both. Cardio improves your efficiency of using oxygen and builds your…
  • A scoop of chocolate whey powder stirred into your coffee works great.
  • You have been running like crazy. Shift to lifting for 4 months with light cardio once done with the race. Transition to cutting 12 weeks prior to the cruise.
  • So you bumped into somebody that recognizes you. Go back. As someone who frequents a gym, I really don't pay that much attention to the other people. What I do notice is the people who stick with it and actually make progress over an extended period of time. I respect the heck out of that. If someone comes to the gym they…
  • As a married guy, my observations: First off, get fit for you and hit your goals. He should be supportive and encouraging. By definition a healthy couple makes for a longer marriage that both partners are able to better enjoy. Second, when you are married, your definition of hot/attractive/beautiful/etc is your spouse. End…
  • I net 2200 a day and lose consistently about 1/2 pound a week. I eat back my exercise calories, so some days I eat 2500 to 2800 calories. As others have said, I am on a caloric deficit so I lose. My body knows it is getting a study supply of fuel, so it burns it freely. Macros at 40% protein, 30 % carbohydrates, 30% fat.
  • I typically take a 4 to 7 day break from lifting every 8 to 12 weeks based on what my joints are telling me. I will still do my cardio days though.
  • At 5'8" and 236, I am dropping .5 pound to 1 pound a week netting 2200 calories a day.
  • clams, oysters, beef, spinach, soy and other various beans are all good sources. Keep in mind vitamin C should be consumed with the meal in some form to maximize iron absorption. For instance, bell pepper in your steak and spinach salad.

  • For the sake of full disclosure, my perspective comes from the Christian Bible and I believe it. No. I believe they are otherwise engaged in the business of heaven. They are with the Jesus Christ. He is a lot more compelling and impressive than me. Should it suit Christ's will and purpose, then yes they can come down for…
  • Haven't gotten down to my leaning goal yet. When I do, I plan to hit a bulking cycle. Hope you get some takers.
  • Welcome and much success to you on the journey. The main thing is to be patient and persistent. Keep lifting.
  • typically yes. I need the fuel for recovery. If i don't i start hurting and get tired. that is self defeating. my recovery calories are mostly proteins and some organic fats.
  • LWW - 232 lbs CWW - 236 lbs This has been a crazy week due to Hurricane Isaac. I was stuck at work basically for 72 hours as part of the stay team and the provided food was high sodium, heavily processed stuff. Needless to say heading out the gym or track was not an option. I suspect most is water weight. Have a good week…
  • I never have a spotter. I use the power rack and make use of the heavy dumbbells. I have some great progress the past year. It can be done.
  • Drink whichever you like the taste of best. Enjoy it in moderation. Shiner Bock Abita Turbodog Lazy Magnolia Southern Pecan Killian's Irish Red or whatever else. The main thing is, it should be something worth drinking.
