  • But then it wouldnt be natural.
  • No one cares how you personally count water intake until you make a claim, on a public forum, that something doesnt count as water or that you should get some arbitrary number of cups based on nothing. Or that coffee or added sugar somehow requires so much water to process that it actually dehydrates you. That is just not…
  • http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0084154 "Our data show that there were no significant differences across a wide range of haematological and urinary markers of hydration status between trials. These data suggest that coffee, when consumed in moderation by caffeine habituated males provides…
  • I guess evidence means different things to different people. A naturopath's opinion? Ok I think I will go with actual science from the Institute Of Medicine.
  • Didnt read the links obviously. Why not sweeten it if you can fit the calories and you enjoy it sweetened? Adding a sweetener does not alter the the water to no longer provide hydration. If you have some evidence that it does I would be happy to look at it though.
  • My guess is that IIFYM is including exercise calories while MFP does not include them until you log the workout.

  • Why? Does it stop containing water if you add sugar?
  • Modern humans eat too much of a lot of things so suggesting the cut back on some things is fine with me. As long as its based on actual nutrition and maybe even environmental concerns. If its based on a political agenda then I would have a problem with the recommendations. I think the RDA for protein is pretty low though.…
  • All water intake counts. Food and liquids. Just because you added something to it does not magically alter it so it no longer hydrates you. It is not alchemy. If you are peeing to much then cut back on intake. If 1 is good then 15 must be better...right? Wrong.
  • I guess it would depend on what you mean when you say light weight and how many reps. To some that could be 10-12 and others it could mean around 20 or more. For most of us it is beneficial to pick a program that includes multiple rep ranges. It probably wont make a significant difference depending on the length of the…
  • I agree with DavPul but if I absolutely had to answer I would agree with cwolfman13. I think the dumbbell pullover is one of the most underrated lifts there is and could be a close second. Its also one of the few lifts where I think the machine is superior to the free weight version. The "core" includes a lot of muscles…
  • Calisthenics (pushups, sit-ups), vigorous
  • I dont think that is that far off actually. It is estimated that an additional pound of muscle burns 5ish more calories per day. So if the difference in our weights was all muscle, which it isnt, that would be 125 calories more per day. Easily within our margins of error.
  • I am estimating I was around 12-15% when I was at 160.
  • Pretty sedentary beside workouts and hobbies on weekends. Netting 2000 is right at average for a male my height. Workout days I would eat around 2500. So to average total calories over the week would be about 2300 per day to maintain. I dont think that is too far off.
  • I hear ya. I see so many people talking about how many calories they are eating and still losing. Tiny women eating hundreds of more calories than me when I am bulking. I wish I had kind of problem. :)
  • 5'10" My maintenance NET calories are about 2000. I used the myfitnesspal model to lose my weight so I ate back my workout calories. Non workout days were around 1600 and workout days were around 2100. The weight loss was not linear though. The first 25lbs came off pretty fast and the last 25 took forever. It took me a…
  • Thanks guys. The pictures show a big difference between weights but I can tell you it doesnt always feel that way. Thats why I posted this in this section. I never got super lean to begin with but letting go of any of it is not easy. Some people seem to be able to put on some muscle without adding fat but I did not find it…
  • The video was great and motivational. The use of the word "real" implies that if you are not jiggly or a sweaty mess then you are fake. Can you imagine if a man posted this? The internet would break.
  • Gluten sensitivity may not exist. "when the placebo diet was identical to the baseline diet, subjects reported a worsening of symptoms! The data clearly indicated that a nocebo effect, the same reaction that prompts some people to get sick from wind turbines and wireless internet, was at work here. Patients reported…
  • Broth and stock are a little different but I dont think just drinking one or the other is weird. I mean a couple other ingredients and it becomes soup and no one thinks that is weird to eat.
  • It is probably a better idea for the average lifter to hit each body part more than once per week. The body parts split has just been around forever. Its what a lot of the big body builders did/do so that is what the lifters at the local gym think they should do. A lot of volume that requires a lot of recovery. A lot of…
  • Im not sure what your trainer has in mind as far as the lifts but Strong lifts 5x5 starts as low weight and low reps. If your trainer wants to start you the same weight on the same lifts but doing more reps then that might be good also. 5x5=25 3x12=36 Even if the weight was a little lower the total work might be very…
  • This video may have been the start of the Fred Hahn wars.

  • Of course we dont do this. We use the mirrors.
  • Rapid initial weight loss from these "detox" pills or going low carb is almost all water weight. You may think it helps you kick start your weight loss but when that weight loss stalls or you replace that water and gain weight it is just as much of a disincentive as the fast weight loss was an incentive. THOUSANDS of posts…
  • 1) Do you do any traditional cardio? (By this I mean something other than “lift weights quickly.”) Yes 2) If you do not do cardio, why not? 3) If you do cardio, why do you do it and do you like it or just tolerate it? Health. Improved performance at other activities like weightlifting, hiking and mountain biking and sexy…
