As long as you have it set up properly (height/weight/age etc) and can verify that the heart rate being recorded is your actual heart rate, then go with the HRM.

210lb is right on the border for me being at a healthy 25.0 BMI, so I deducted 5lb from this and set my goal weight at 205lb :bigsmile:

Why would you think that Insanity is a diet program? Do the workout to get toned and in shape and follow a diet plan to lose the weight - 2 different things Whether you use the diet plan that comes with the workout or something else doesn't really make much difference.

If you abuse your muscles - which if you're doing Insanity properly is almost guaranteed - then they will retain a lot of water to help heal up faster. Sore muscles = Extra water weight for a few days until your body adjusts.

I do my Insanity workout which is 6 days a week @ 40-60 mins/day Weights 3 times a week @ 45 mins per session Swimming 5 times a week @ 1 hour per day Running or Cycling twice a week @ 30 mins per session :bigsmile:

You can either lose weight or gain muscle. You can't do both at the same time. To gain muscle, you need to gain weight. Carry on with the weights. This will help minimise how much muscle you lose while you're losing weight

I could hardly move in the beginning :sad: Sitting on the toilet was a very unpleasant experience :flowerforyou: Really focus on the stretching would be my advice and you will be doing the cardio recovery soon. That should help a bit as well

I weigh and measure everything whenever possible. Try eyeballing something, remember your 'guess' then weigh it and see how far off you were. OCD FTW! :drinker:

Heart rate monitors don't work very well for 'non steady' workouts like weight lifting for example. They are meant for workouts where the heart rate is fairly high (+100 ish) and fairly steady. When you lose weight, it's not just fat that dissapears. Start lifting now. It will help maintain as much muscle as possible while you lose weight. You won't totally stop the muscle loss, but you can absolutely minimise it as much as possible
