  • Congratulations! You must be feeling so great at getting under that number. WTG!
  • Thank you for posting--I'm hoping you're right and I bounce back quickly and not take another 8 weeks to get back to where i was. I hope you were able to run your 5K.
  • I guess I'm just feeling like I should be better by now. :( Thank you for the support...I know logically that I need to start off slowly.
  • I think the hardest part is that I dove headlong into this after a very long 6 months of feeling like crap and suffering from vertigo--and exercising is the ONLY thing that got me to feel normal again without any vertigo episodes....and again..completely emotional and mental...this is just hard. :( I
  • i agree with the person above--I believe it's your lifestyle aside from going to the gym, since the program (calories) doesn't consider exercise...I try to go 4-5x a week but sit on my tush all day long and put in sedentary.
  • Great info--thank you! Since I still have a throat on fire and some congestion and sluggishness, I think I will step back for a few days until I at least get my energy back.
  • Yeah, I had a feeling that's the case. I felt so good after my workout yesterday, I thought for sure I was sweating the cold out of me! LOL...until I woke up this morning. Thanks for the feedback. :)
  • YES! I've done this with my trainer and it is a KILLER. She also has me on my hands (not pushup) bring knee to chest and then extend out behind me and THEN around to the side...that's 1. I do that 12x each leg...do planks with leg lifts and then back to that. You really do feel like you want to die. LOL I get my…

  • This is the exact exercise I do with my trainer--but I will always have that pooch...i just want it to be much smaller.

  • T--When I am done doing 40 min on a gym-quality Life Fitness elliptical, it tells me I've burned over 500 calories--but my HRM reads more like 300-something. You cannot ever go by the machine readings....HRM is the only way to go.
  • Trader Joe's uncured meats are very good.
  • I hope everyone is having a good weekend--I just got home from a tough workout. I feel GREAT now, but I am sure I will be paying for this later when I can't keep my eyes open. LOL Total calories burned: 642 30 min intense Ab exercises with my Trainer - 185 calories 40 min elliptical 2.76 mi - 314 calories 20 min treadmill…
  • Very high--I am not in good shape and have much more weight than you--and I did a consistent 4.5 on my elliptical last night for 32 minutes in a 40 min session. The machine told me I burned 600 calories. My HRM said 301. My HR average was 154. Soooo I would say that your elliptical is a bit optimistic. sorry!
  • OY VEY....I could barely do the isometric squats my trainer had me do yesterday...took me 4 reps to get up to 1 minute...not good. I'll get there though...
  • Very interesting information--and I'm quite disturbed by it and will be doing a bit more reading before removing tilapia from my menu...I've been eating it for years! i wouldn't be eating ANY fish from the Gulf these days.....
  • That sounds very good to me...but I just finished my Mother's Day 5K and walked it--so my time was much longer than that. Plenty of runners came in longer than your time....I think you're going to do great! Good luck!

  • Stand with one foot on a stair, the other on the floor and bend down on the leg that's on the floor--sort of a modified lunge. the bending motion (with heel on the floor) will stretch the muscles and ligaments behind your shin. Do 8 reps on each leg.
  • Awesome! I did 60 min of cardio at the gym tonite. I changed it up a bit and did 40 on the elliptical and 20 on the treadmill Did 2.72 mi and 301 calories burned on elliptical and 1 mile on the treadmill and 134 calories burned. total burned=435. Thank goodness for my HRM. I did the cardio workout on the elliptical--it…
  • Thank you! I'm really focusing on my "form" when walking-I just can't seem to walk fast! So, with proper form, hopefully I can walk more quickly more easily and then eventually start running! I think I can do 6lbs in May. I only weigh 1x a month with my trainer--and that should be a week from Saturday. Tonite's workout: 30…
  • I'm in--I guess I will start! After doing my first 5K on Sunday (walked it), I did a moderate cardio routine at the gym last night. 1.27 on the elliptical and 1.88 on the treadmill. 372 calories burned. Looking forward to supporting all of you! :)
  • Congrats on logging for over a month--that's awesome! Sadly, orange juice (as are most juices) are loaded with sugar. I get 31 grams a day too--and if I have a V8 or fruit with my bfast, I, too, have already used most of my sugar grams on bfast. I DO think 31 is doable--my personal opinion is that sugar is one of the key…
  • Thank you for the feedback. My friend suggested similar--whole eggs, higher calorie things, etc. It's such a balancing act--and I'm really trying to piece it all together and make it work.
  • I have the Polar FT7 and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!
  • Yes! My trainer had me using one on Tuesday--starting at waist level--crossing down to opposite foot, and up back over head. 4 sets of 12 on each side! A good workout for sure.

  • I had a 30 minute kick @$$-thought I was going to throw up-total body conditioning session with my trainer. Burned 198 calories with her, then did 20 min on the elliptical and 40 on the treadmill for another 427 calories. Total burned was 625 calories--a personal best for me.
  • Wow--you are doing great-and you've had a great loss too! Looks like you started about the same place as me. Yeah--my resting HR is higher but I'm just starting my journey and I expect my resting and max HR to improve as I drop weight and continue cardio. Yeah--mine blasted up to 161 but my HRM says 155 should be my top. I…
  • That's a good question--I try to be conscious of my breathing and my trainer does remind me to breath, but I do not remember if I was yesterday....I will be sure to be careful with that. thanks!
  • I'll be 39 in November. I did mention it to my trainer and she didn't seem too concerned. Hmmm.....
