I've NEVER understood this...the info on the box never seems to make any sense....popped/unpopped.....UGH! OK--help me make sense of this: The info in the food database doesn't seem to be correct to me. Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop 94% Fat Free Butter Popcorn 2.9oz sized bag This is what the box says: Serving Size: 3TBS…

A very modest success
Last year I completed my first 5K two months into my new way of life. I walked the entire way and my goal was to finish under an hour--which I did somewhere around 55:00 and a 17:45 mile. Today was my 2nd 5k (both were Mother's Day 5k's) and i did a walk/run and shaved 9 min off my time for an even 15:00 mile and a time of…

question about whey protein and flax seed
I'm looking at a suggested menu and it lists as a snack: 1 TBS of flax seed and 1 scoop of whey protein....don't you need to mix those things into something to ingest? I can't imagine you're supposed to scoop right into your mouth! No other food is listed under this snack to mix it into. Suggestions?

Runners...I need honest opinions.
I have a grade 1 (mild) calf strain. I popped it doing c25k on Sunday. It seems to be barely a grade 1 in that I actually finished the program after walking and stretching it post-pop (stupid, I know), walked all over the pumpkin farm that afternoon and it feels so much better just a few days later. I saw the orthopedist…

Almost halfway there....
Just wanted to post this comparison picture. I did this last week after a binge weekend during my daughter's birthday and gearing up for back to school. Doing this helps me keep my focus...I'm just under halfway there..... SW: 278 CW: 234

Max HR question...
So, I started c25k and did Week 1 twice and started Week 2 yesterday. My max HR is set using the standard 220-age which I know is not always accurate. max HR=181. OK--it hasn't gotten to 181...more like 175. So, week 2 has me running 90 secs and walking 2 min. By a bit over 1 minute of running, my HR SOARS almost to my max…

What song/artist really kicks it up a notch for you?
When working out--is there a favorite song that comes on in your playlist that just gets you MOVING? Spaceman by The Killers is one that comes to mind....how about you?

I cannot fall asleep at night....help!
The past couple of weeks, I've noticed that I've been completely wired and hypersensitive to every little noise when falling asleep--it almost feels like the brink of an anxiety attack (palpitations too--but mostly just a WIRED feeling) I do work out (burn 400-600 via HRM) at night during the week 3x but on the weekends I…

Our bodies do weird things...they can be such a mystery!
I just thought I would share since I know how easy it is to become frustrated and feel like what we're doing isn't working. I noticed last week that I was starting to plateu. I've had GREAT success my first two months and I was beginning to think my hard work was stalling. I haven't been doing anything differently--eating…

Do you exercise when you are sick?
I have a terrible head cold and sore throat. I did work with my trainer and do a shortened (40 min, instead of 60) cardio workout yesterday with a mild sore throat. When I was finished, I felt ok but I woke up a train wreck today. Exhausted, and the stuffiness and sneezing set in. I skipped cardio today since I was just…

Feeling out of sorts--I just need to let it out...LONG
This is long.... GREAT NEWS: I started my new lifestyle of exercise and healthy eating just about 2 months ago. I work out with a trainer 2x a week for 30 min with weights/core/strengthening and do 1 hour of straight cardio 4-5x a week. I weigh-in and do measurements with my trainer once a month. The first month I lost…

I need suggestions...
Ok--I'm being very brave in opening up myself here... Can you take a look at my journal and suggest ways to get the calories in while staying under in sugar? I have Celiacs so I'm rarely going to use all my carbs and my food tends towards the protein. I am having a hard time getting the calories in. MFP is set to lose 1lb…

Is this normal re: heart rate
So--I did 1.77 miles on the treadmill before a leg workout with my trainer last night. It was moderate with my heart rate in the low 140s. When I was doing squats with the bar behind me--my heart was POUNDING and my HR got into the 160s. This seems to be quite common with me. My HR goes MUCH higher during my conditioning…

Logging calories burned for weight traning?
So, I wear my HRM when I work with my trainer on weight training...I should be recording those calories too, right? I have been but just want to make sure since I start with cardio on my own, first then continue my session on the HRM for the weight training. Same for conditioning exercise videos, right?

ugh--feeling down on myself. Please tell me this is ok.
For the past 2 weeks, i've been to the gym 5x...and yet it looks like I will only get there 4x this week and it's bumming me out. :( I just feel like this is the beginning of this slipping away from me and going to turn into a downward spiral. I've never enjoyed going to the gym as I have this go-around--but while my head…
