This is one of the best articles I have found for measuring blood pressure at home. It's worth noting the importance of position and the effects of taking the measurement too quickly. AAFP is an excellent resource and this article explains some of the AHA guidelines. https://www.aafp.org/afp/2005/1001/p1391.html As others…

Our family had some challenge with this a couple years ago. The answer for us was to buy more expensive chocolates. Sometimes we buy individually wrapped squares other times we get big bars and only have one or two squares. The result, we have a huge variety of chocolates in the house which lasts for weeks. Hershey bars…

I just got the Pro-form Pro 2000 (on sale $950 OTD). I have been running for over a year now, with a couple months off during the summer. My own experience with iFit is that it is what you make of it, I like the auto incline and being able to program workouts in advance. I would venture to say that it is not worth full…

If you are open to a bone conduction wireless headphone I have a set of Trekz Titanium. I have had them for two months now and love them. I went through a dozen pairs of wireless and wired ear buds and so far these have held up better than most. I was lucky enough to get them on sale for $70 in December.

We use DE for our chickens, it keeps the parasites at bay and the poo off the eggs. I have never heard of it being used for human consumption, but https://www.diatomaceousearth.com/diatomaceous-earth-human/ As a side note it is also useful for home insect control, dehydrates them. In addition to other users, very…

Some might call this a 'Quarter Ton' Really interesting to watch how this topic has meandered.

This is a great answer; but I will ask, how high does you blood pressure run? One of the biggest risks with high blood pressure, besides stroke, enlarged heart, thickening of arterial walls, etc.; is kidney damage which is progressive, irriversible, and causes more high blood pressure. I would get to you DR ASAP to see if…

What kind of need did you doctor give you? How long have you been taking them? Beta Blockers and Calcium channel blockers may make exercise more difficult than vasodilators or diuretics. Exercise is important to cardiovascular health not as important for weight loss. If it is harder to exercise talk to your doctor about…

Why is it that in the UK they talk about remission, but the US the doctors hang onto the idea of always diabetic, even when people adopt severe lifestyle mods? I watch my own FBG to ensure that I do not get tagged with this diagnosis.

Totally worth it. I started with the Flex 2, which I have loved. I give a thumbs up to any Fitbit product with one caveat, Do not think anything it tells you is fact, use the data and compare it against yourself and improve over time. Too many times people think that 10,000 steps is 10,000 and it can really be 9,000 or…

Endomondo, I pay for the premium mostly because they have support for the Windows Phone platform and I am experimenting with the training plan. No other tech yet, still looking for the right one.

Current goal, lose 110#, currently lost 65#. 45 # to go.

If you are having an allergic reaction to the meds you need to go back to your doctor to get a different script. If you have Strep then you need to complete a course of antibiotics in order to prevent complications of the disease and reduce time you can share it with others. Take solace in this thought, your doctor does…

I was not sure how seriously to take this thread, but thank goodness you had doctors who were able to inform you of the disease process in your colon. Also happy to hear you are doing better. Your story is not a statement about doctors, because you still needed them and used them; but it instead represents being an…

It is a big deal, too many people don't start with the first 0.5 miles. Congratulations!

General distance will be off on the Fitbit if you do not adjust the stride length. Calories is a shot in the dark no matter what due to the limitations of the hardware. I use the treadmill calories and eat less than half back, if I eat any.

This might not help, but it is personal experience. I go to the gym alone. Sometimes it is boring, sometimes it gives me an opportunity to think and decompress. Sometimes watch Netflix on my phone or listen to Pandora. At the end of the day you are going to the gym for yourself and therefore have to be accountable to the…

If you want more veggies ask for more. I always ask for more black olives and have even told them to grab a nice handful and not put any back. Any store worth their salt will give no protest to reasonable requests. The only problem I have ever had was at underperforming stores. It is ironic that the stores that do not have…

You have some good responses already, the benefit to slipping in the morning is you have the rest of the day to make it right. That being said 340 calories does not sound out of range. If you really are trying to give up chocolate, which I would not recommend, then congratulate yourself that you made it three days this…

Here a a small dragon pet, very friendly...loves cats! Sorry now horribly off topic, I had a couple UK friends at one time, which provided some nice conversations. Never had the sense of 'accountability' as this is the internet, but I did appreciate connecting with people who had their own goals.

Same account since 2012 through the ups and downs. Data is your friend and fragmenting accounts costs data. I could not imagine deleting an account and starting from scratch. That being said, run with that which works for you, Good Luck!

There are a few of these posts recently, I have one spreadsheet I use for MFP data where I track daily weight, BMI, daily calorie input, Macros Grams & Percentages, Exercise Calories and Minutes, Harris-Benedict Calc for net calories, walking and running distances. I also have some conditional formatting to highlight when…

@dannib423 Funny when two people post the same information at the same time. @mygrl4meee I used to eat that salad all the time, until I noticed that 40% of the calories came from fat and the 1G of sodium. I turned out it just created problems. I still get it sometimes, but Wendy's new grilled chicken sandwich has…

The way you described (without cheese, mayo, and mustard) the medium sandwich is coming in at 390. The 700 number comes with the sandwich as-is. Just wanted to add the calories information for the original sandwich:

@ahoy_m8 My typical lunch is fish, veggie sausage, beans, vegetable...I typically keep this meal lean to keep macros in check for the day (fat creeps up fast if I am not careful). I love eggs and do incorporate for breakfast, but this is my more lean meal. Revised diets in September, I keep hoping for improvement without…
