I do, I just created my own exercise based on my weight, sex, age, and values I found from an online calculator. But I only use it as a rough estimate.

I'm 18 as well, and have been struggling with my eating habits for over half of my life. I get those same comments from my mom as well, but she masks it with things like "I'm just concerned about your health." Unfortunately, exercise alone won't do much if you are eating junk. It's like putting chocolate syrup in your car…

Aim for a net calorie value of 1200 instead of just an intake of 1200. Since you're so busy you burn more calories during the day and you should eat enough so that your (calories eaten) minus (calories burnt) equals 1200.
