It sound like a Ketogenic Diet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ketogenic_diet) is right up your husband's alley! Liberal amounts of meat, cheese, eggs and cream, above-ground veggies, and he'll be so satiated with a relatively small amount of food that he'll run a calorie deficit, and the weight will fall off! Now, before…

Okay, now. The reaction from the previous guy was understandable. We low-carb eaters always get folks talking about how we're "extreme", that we are killing ourselves, that Atkins/Paleo/Keto are "crazy talk", etc. You probably didn't mean it that way. Drinks all around, people. Just like I wouldn't berate a diabetic for…

Low Carber here! MFP is a great resource. Have you customized your goals here to match up with a low-carb/Ketogenic/Paleo/Atkins style diet? Wanna know what all of those are? Go to www.reddit.com/r/keto . That's an online board where you can get even more great info about low-carbing. Good luck, and feel free to add me!

For me doing Keto, Tall or Grandel Iced Cafe Americano, 2-4 pumps of (insert sugar-free) syrup, add heavy cream (most locations have it) instead of skim--I get my fat on, and fewer sugars than usual.

go to the main page for MFP. Underneath the "My Home" tab, you'll see a long blue bar that stretches across the screen. In it, you'll see the word "Goals". Click it. There you'll see your calories, macronutrients ("macros", like Fat, Protein, Carbs, etc). Towards the bottom of that page, you'll see a green button that…

Tuna or chicken would be good choices. Even though it's Keto we're talking, a smattering of low-fat meats that have a greater protein/fat ratio will finish out your macros, and help you get enough protein. Egg whites as well would help, and make a quick meal (eating the whites from hard boiled eggs, or a quick omelet).…

1. I'm looking to lose about 95 pounds more. I originally set MFP to do a 2 lbs. / week loss, but I custom tweaked my calories, dropping them by about 200 more/day to 1650 calories/day. This should bring about 2.5 pounds/week loss. 2. Noooo! Not my tortillas!! I was hoping that with 3 net carbs, I could get away with them.…

ARE. YOU. FREEKIN'. KIDDING. ME!!??? Dude...I'm in awe--I'm not too far behind where you started (5'8", 320). Tell me everything you did. I had outstanding loss from 335 to 317 in the past 6-7 weeks, but I'm stalled.

Our bodies will accumulate and lose fat whereever they do...it's really difficult to "target" such weight loss. Having said that, you're looking even MORE incredible now--looks like you're making great progress. As for the thighs, workouts like swimming and walking/jogging are good for getting great tone and smoothing, but…

Well said, all the way around!!!

This, right here. The whole drama over "you're doing this because the family (read, the spouse) isn't good enough for you any more and you're gonna trade us in!!11!!!" thing wears thin. No dear, nobody is getting "traded in" because (a) because I love you (and the family), and (b) it's too damned expensive to trade you in!…

That's when you know you're a HARDCORE MFP junkie! :)
-
You're correct. When you first entered your weight goals, remember it asked you how much weight you wanted to gain/lose (e.g., 1/2 pound a week, 1 pound a week, etc.)? That's the deduction it makes from your BMR. So, the calorie goal that MFP automagically calculates for you is what you need to consume IN ORDER TO ACHIEVE…

Volunteer reporting for duty, Ma'am!! :)

Welcome to MFP! Just wanted to let you know that you can totally do this! You have a lot of people here doing different eating and exercise plans that have a lot of knowledge--feel free to ask as many questions as you need to get help. There are NO "stupid" questions--just the one you don't ask!
-
I try to, if for no other reason than for (a) completeness, and (b) maybe what I ate isn't so bad, or if I don't consume as much as I thought I was going to , I still have a chance to "pull back" that day, and not do too much damage. Then again, you can have days like I do, where you're "good", and experience no progress,…

Intelligence is an incredible turn on for me. Caring and sweet disposition. Humor, sometimes droll, but humor is also very appealing.

Why yes, I AM a cool kid! :) Hey folks, glad to have found you. I'm 46, and am trying to finally lose the 100+ pounds that have been on me for the last 14 years. I'm using a ketogenic diet. Feel free to add me to your friends list!
