  • my philosophy is this...it wasn't the once in a while big meals or special occasions that made me overweight. it was my every day habits. as long as i change those, i will be ok. special occasions are just that...special. so enjoy them. today i was at a ball game, ate chicken fingers and french fries. loved every bite of…
  • congrats! great job on setting your mind to completing something like that. i love a nice 5k walk. stay out of the runners way, enjoy the sights and sounds. i doubt it'll be your last 5k!
  • down 40 so far, 20 here on mfp, and around the 20 pound mark my first person said something, a woman i work with. then about a week ago i was able to dress a bit more casual at work and three people said something. that was around the 35 pound mark. then just yesterday a woman i don't particularly care for said how much…
  • im on the other side of the country, but just as excited for the weather to be more spring like so i can ride my bike. when it is sunny here, it's been windy too, so no bike for me. i even have a cycling partner waiting for the weather to break so we can go together. c'mon spring!
  • track everything! it's the best feature on here. read a lot of posts. they offer great advice, but find what works for you. you have to experiment a little to find what you can eat, and how much and still lose weight, so don't get discouraged early. drink water. way more than you want to to weigh less than you want to.…
  • stress fractures between the toes sounds incredibly painful for such a small area. good luck to your sister. and thanks for the advice. i have been talking with a yoga instructor recently, we have a mutual friend, and was telling her my concerns and she was saying the same as you, there is always a modification available.…

  • never had "real" oatmeal, always been a instant quaker guy, but have thought of trying better quality stuff based on what ive read on mfp. thanks for the advice.
  • never much of a breakfast person, but what would you suggest? i don't really know what 300 to 500 calories for breakfast would be made up of. i feel as if my two eggs, sausage, cheese on a roll with pepper and ketchup is part of the reason i am counting calories in the first place...but damn, i do miss those.
  • i try to over estimate on servings, and have thought of that being part of the problem. but a turkey sandwich for lunch is a turkey sandwich for lunch, tough to over estimate two pieces of bread and three slices of turkey. the only things i don't log are things like ketchup, fat free salad dressing and stuff like that.…
  • i like the idea behind yoga, but with severe knee issues and being unable to kneel or put any pressure on my knee cap, it limits me to what i can do. i need a standing only yoga class or something. have learned a few poses, but never make it part of my routine. i think it might be one of my summer goals when i have more…

  • it's not that i am against friends. it is two reasons really... one is that i am not sure i would have time to be a good friend back. and secondly, i am so motivated that i almost want to keep the friends option in my back pocket for when things start not going as well, then i can kick in the friends thing and get back on…

  • if you are pregnant again, to me, it sounds like you have already BEEN exercising! good luck.
  • your timing might be a fraction off. or, now that there is less fat in the way, your muscles are working differently to make the swinging motion. maybe try a lighter bat until you feel a bit more comfortable, then go back to your old bat. i have nothing really to base any of this on, just brainstorming...
  • i think this is me. can go out to dinner and put on five pounds over a weekend, with normal eating and then a large meal out. frustrating that then i take the first few days of the week reversing the damage from the weekend. any advice?
