  • Thanks! I'm sure you'd be surprised what you could do! Look at how far you've come this month already. The planks with alternate moves were HARD. Even the class veterans were struggling. But I'm sure they are doable with practice. I used to not be able to do a side plank at all and now I can lift up a few inches off the…
  • 50 secs after a run. Was feeling way tired! ;-(

  • Not surprising. Cut the cheese, craisins and pineapple next time. It's totally possible to eat a healthy filling salad for 350 cals or so. Think 4 oz lean protein (e.g., chicken) for 160 cals, low cal dressing (2 tbs, 30 cals), and a whole ton of veggies: choose from stuff like swiss chard, spinach, arugula, tomatoes,…
  • I weigh about 160 and typically "lose" 1.5-2 lbs overnight.
  • Great jobs guys! Yesterday was my birthday and I was out the whole day, so I ended up skipping it. Will make it up tomorrow (more celebrations today).

  • 50 secs. Light for me but it was at the end of a circuit class and my arms were beat.

  • I don't have a good answer for you but I do feel your frustration! I have lost 11 lbs (from 170) and even though I can totally tell, and hubs can tell, no one has noticed ;-( Even people who know I am trying haven't said anything. One thing to consider is whether you are wearing flattering clothes. If you are still wearing…
  • Monday: 1. Decided to have a birthday party and most of my closest friends can come 2. Played a fun board game with the kids after dinner since there was no homework 3. Had a new idea for an article I'm writing. And another one I submitted was accepted.
  • Thanks jlbay for starting the topic! 1 min 30 for me today. Whoever said the other day that this is getting harder--I totally agree! I just could not do another second. I do feel stronger when I do them but don't see any changes in my core yet.

  • Sunday: 1. Lovely brunch party for a friend's 50th. And got to catch up with another good friend while there. 2. Relaxing drive along the ocean and through the mountains with hubby and kids. 3. Grocery shopping with my youngest. Always love to hear her views on the world. And she kept the cart super organized so we'd have…
  • I missed yesterday--ooops, but I am back today and hit 2 minutes. Yay! PS, Thanks for starting the thread!

  • Hi, I missed Saturday and I started the group! Oops... I remembered late Sat night after some margs and mexican food. Plank wasn't happening, lol. All we can do is start again! Good luck!

  • May 3rd Honestly it wasn't a good day but in the midst of the misery, I did find 3 things. Had a good meeting with a colleague and came up with a new project at work (and we implemented the first stage this morning and it went well!) My long time housekeeper/babysitter who loves my kids as if they were her grandkids and…

  • Ok, I braved it and took my measurements. Oh holy moly, not a measurement that I usually track but it seemed much larger than I remembered. Maybe that is a sign that I should be measuring... Around my belly button: 33 I still haven't figured out what to wear for a picture and it's such an unattractive sight that perhaps it…

  • One a day is totally fine, but if you want to do more, that's cool too. Right now I am just doing one plank of about a minute but I may work my way up to 2 planks of 2 minutes each by the end of the month but the idea is to do a simple plank and not make it too complicated or too much of a time commitment so that we (I!)…

  • PS When I first started doing planks, I could only do about 15-20 secs. I worked my way up to 2 planks of 2 minutes each after awhile. That was a few years ago. I am not there now but hoping to build up again. Keep at it! It really does help.
  • Of course! Whatever you're starting point is, is totally fine. You just need to be willing to try to do whatever you can do every day this month. Welcome and good luck!

  • Brush your teeth after dinner Chew gum Go to sleep when you feel the urge to eat Come on MFP and read the posts Read anything to distract yourself or surf the net Don't do whatever triggers eating (i.e., watching tv, staying up too late, etc.) Quit buying the food you like to snack on Basically, keep yourself busy and get…
  • I suffer from the same thing. I can't say for sure that I know the cure but here are a few things that help me. 1) start each weekend morning out with a good workout and eat a healthy breakfast (cheating on breakfast usually means I cheat the whole day so better not to do it) 2) avoid takeout (usually I have Lean Cuisines…
  • I do not recommend throwing it all away. That is how I gained serious weight last summer, over eating on vacation, then continuing in vacation eating mode when I returned. What I have learned is that to lose weight and keep it off, you have to always be on guard to some extent. And, you have to track calories. Sounds like…
  • Hi, I joined recently and would love to add some friends. I've found a few great ones already from this thread and thought I'd post in case there's anyone else out there who'd be a good match. Age: 41 Height: 5'9 SW: 170.4 CW: 165.0 GW: 134 Other: I work out 3-5 times a week and would like to look like I belong in the…
  • I work out at 5:30 or 6 am 2x a week. What gets me up is 1) I love the classes I take 2) I go with a friend (but loving what I am going to do gets me up even when she doesn't go) and 3) knowing these times are my only chance. Some ideas for you: Change your routine to something different. You are probably somewhat bored.…
