I've been doing zumba every Tue evening this year and I love it! I actually burn more calories running, but need a change and zumba is different, fun, and filled with people all working in sync. I still run, but I do zumba on Tue and spin on Thu to mix it up. Gotta keep exercise interesting!!

Your body becomes accustomed to your routine and doesn't burn as much as someone new to that activity. If something is part of your lifestyle and not done specifically for fitness purposes, then I would NOT log it. You aren't doing yourself any favors by logging something that really didn't give you extra calories.

Commercial real estate accountant 8:30-5:00, also have private client that I handle from home, another 1-2 hours or so an evening. On my butt for hours and hours :frown:

That often happens in the beginning. Stick to it and take measurements to comfort yourself until the scale starts moving. And they WILL start moving!!

My personal experience, based on no scientific evidence whatsoever, is that I do better at slightly lower carbs, but horribly at very low carbs. I lose weight better with high protein. A high fat diet begins to disgust me after a surprisingly short period of time. I simply cannot sustain it. Which clearly is not conducive…

May I make a suggestion? Increase your protein settings to about 30% of your total (reduce carbs by the necessary difference). I've found that by eating more protein, I stay full longer and lose weight easier. Too many carbs actually make me hungrier in the long run. You need some, for energy, but too many and I'm ravenous…

I bring snacks to work every day to help keep me full. Today is a hard boiled egg, a cup of berries (strawberries, blackberries, blueberries), a zip loc of grapes, a Fage yogurt and a baby cucumber. All about 250 calories total and I will spread it throughout the day.

I did the same thing over the holidays. But I vowed to start anew and I have. Commit to it and make yourself a promise, then keep your word! I vowed to eat at a deficit, log everything, and work out at least 5 days a week with everything I have. Today is day 17 of the new plan. You can do it! Mini-goals help some people.…

I had a baby at age 44. My body did NOT bounce back this time. I starved myself trying to get back to my former size and messed up my metabolism. Now, I'm doing it right. Had to reset my metabolism, teach myself how to eat the proper amounts and control binging. Doing fine. The baby is now 6 years old and the light of my…

No, they usually do not subtract them. That's why they still show you burning calories while sitting absolutely still. I recommend that you either eat only part of your exercise calories (maybe 60-70%) or deduct the BMR calories from them (BMR divided by 1440 = calories burned per minute X minutes exercised)
-
I had a baby. A late age baby. And unlike the previous two babies, this baby weight did not go away. So I starved myself and did a number on my metabolism. Still didn't lose the weight. Finally, I joined MFP and started getting exercise again while counting calories. And NOW I'm losing the baby weight. Oh and she's 6 years…

I nice frame or blur or fuzzy outline works too!

One thing I do that makes life easier is to take my meat and divide it up into single portion serving sizes. Then I weigh, wrap, label and freeze them. So when I want chicken breast or ground beef, I take a packet out and it will already be labeled as 3.8 oz or 4.2 oz or whatever, so I can log it accurately. I know that…

Exercise gear? I just wore stretchy sweatpants and a huge (men's) baggy shirt with sneakers. I still wear that for the most part. It's comfortable and cheap and doesn't show my lumps, bulges, jiggles, etc. Don't look at everyone else at the gym, just do YOUR thing. You pay for it, it's FOR you, and what the other people…

My rules? Whatever gets me through the day and to my goal.

Here is how I control my carbs. First, I make sure I meet my protein goals (30% of my calories or 90g a day), then I make sure I have just enough healthy fats (no more than 40g a day) and everything else can be carbs. BUT, if I want to feel full, I make those carbs mostly veggies because they are filling and low calorie.…

Mine, before I had kids and started working two sedentary jobs. But I still want the kids and the jobs. So I'm working towards it! This body right here :

Great inspiration. Thank you!

I am keeping diabetes at bay (had it with all three pregnancies and my mother and grandfather died of it) through exercise and diet. My partner got off his meds, metformin, and got his A1 levels normal through exercise and diet. I periodically test my blood sugar to make sure I'm controlling the issue. Here is how: No…

Also keep in mind that MFP allows you to eat back your exercise calories, so go work out! Get on the treadmill or stationary bike and work up a sweat for 45 mins. That will give you a nice chunk of extra calories to eat (not to mention what it does for your fat loss and metabolism and general fitness).
-
Yeah cuz maybe they'll get the "right" answer tomorrow?

First dinner (soft tacos), then the little one has a soccer game. Partner and I will split the game time and work out in the gym. For me, I'll run a mile on treadmill, then it's chest and arms night. Afterwards, home and may play some Wow with partner. Or watch a show. Or both.

Only you can make yourself do this. You want it badly enough, you can do it. No one can force you or baby you through it.
-
Yumm! And great in protein!

What I think is interesting is how little many of us knew about the metabolism and how our body works. My mother owned a health food store and I was raised a vegetarian, but I never knew or cared about any of this. I didn't know about calories, I knew about nutrients like vitamins, minerals, preservatives...but calories?…

Good grief. She's a size 10? I'm a 6 and she looks a heckofa lot better than I do! Sheesh.

For dinner - chicken, lean beef, tortilla, fat free grated cheese, eggs, and tons of veggies. Some cereal and milk for fast breakfast. With a tight budget, you really do need to plan your meals out and buy accordingly. Frozen fruit is nutritious and lasts a long time. Processed foods (in a box or can) are not as healthy…

I don't mind it. I have curves, call them what you want, they're still curves

what did you put down as your goal? Lose 1 or 2 pounds should be the one you picked (make sure you didn't select gain weight).
