Well hell...
After 9 months without a period, I got one. Coincidentally, I haven't had any hot flashes for the past couple of weeks either. :noway:  So weird. The scale is up 10 pounds and it seems impossible to stop the gradual increase. /sigh. I want this over with.

If you have conquered a plateau...
What did you still have left to lose, how long were you in a plateau, and what did you try that did NOT work? And most importantly, what DID work? Thanks....:flowerforyou: Stormie

What is your definition of "fit"?
When you label someone as "fit", what criteria do you personally use to determine that? Bodyfat? BMI? Endurance? Athletic ability? Size? Weight? One or more of these things in relation to their age? For example, would you apply the same criteria to a 25 yr old that you would to a 50 yr old? Do you consider a person who can…

Question on becoming a zombie
So...we have these zombies that eat people. That IS their food - living or recently living flesh. So how does someone become a zombie and not become a meal? If they get close enough to be contaminated with zombie cooties, why aren't they consumed by these ravenous creatures? And yet, we have all these zombies with minimal…

Why Big Caloric Deficits and Lots of Activity Can Hurt Fat L
Very interesting article by Lyle McDonald on the combination of high calorie deficits and lots of activity. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/why-big-caloric-deficits-and-lots-of-activity-can-hurt-fat-loss.html The part that really resonated with me is quoted below. That's me...pounding on the keyboard, working…

Cutting calories too much (and too often)

Had my metabolism tested and...
now I know what I'm going to do. Some of you may know that for more than 3 years, I had been eating net calories of 6-700 on a good day, while trying to lose weight I gained during a pregnancy. Did not work, and I actually very slowly gained weight. Then, I quit smoking on May 22 last year, began using MFP, joined a gym in…

Stymied and frustrated-need experts help!
So, I've been eating healthy, working out, logging calories since June. I also quit smoking the end of May. Prior to this new "lifestyle", I was on a perpetual "diet" of lowfat foods and deprivation, trying to lose 30 pounds of pregnancy weight. For 4 years, I ate as little as possible with a few glaring exceptions (eating…

Determining activity level
I'm tweaking my diet, and wondering about my initial choice of activity level. I picked sedentary, but after researching it around the web, I'm not sure that is applicable. I work two desk jobs, one in an office and one at home in the evening/weekends. I have three children, ages 4-21. Although I sit at the desk a lot, I…

I treated myself today too
 Went to Golden Corral (Buffet) for dinner. :drinker:  Since I've learned so much in the last couple months about healthy eating, I avoided all the pastas and breads and casseroles. I had some plain vegetables along with several kinds of beef and chicken. I ate only a tablespoon or so of each thing, and…

Don't know what's wrong
I need some encouraging words or better yet, some advice. I'm logging all my foods (diary is public if you want to look), staying close to my goals for the most part, only rarely splurging, working out 3x a week which I haven't done in decades, and it isn't working. Yesterday AND today I was up a pound. A whole pound. Each…

Tofu-ideas?
I'm nearly always way under on my protein and at or over on my fat/carbs (can't stand fish). So while looking for what I could eat to jack up my protein, I took a look at Tofu. I've never been fond of it although I've only tried it once, but it certainly appears to be an excellent source of protein while reasonably low in…

Hi everyone...
New here, and jumping in with both feet. I tackle pretty much everything like that  . So, the issues that bring me here are multiple... First, I am uncomfortably overweight. I've never been too concerned with what the scale says, rather, I have always managed my weight depending on how my clothes fit. However, for…
