Yes this site does actually link up with FitBit. It will transfer calories burned if you set it up and will also keep track of your step count (in the app it does anyway underneath your calories).

You have to wash the strap after about every 10 uses. The sweat/salt/grime buildup causes the strap not to read so well. Just throw it in the wash once a week. Hang dry.

There's ads on here?? (Yes, I'm being snarky. AdBlock Pro is your friend.)

Someone has probably already said it but I don't feel like reading 2 pages of. Portion sizes. Keep each portion to half a palm sized. Don't load up your plate, only put 2 or 3 items on each plate. Only go back 2, maybe 3, times.

I personally love my Polar FT7. Have had it now for 2 years and still works like a champ. The FT4 is the cheaper but just as good version. With both models you can set your own HR zone and turn off the sound notifications (I do). I've also heard lots of folks say good things about Garmin. I would make a list of what you…

It won't sync to Polar if you don't buy the Flowlink. I don't know if Polar syncs to MFP. However, I don't find it a pain to manually enter in my info to MFP after my workout.

The difference used to be that the battery in the FT7 could be changed by the user whereas the FT4 had to be sent back to Polar for their techs to do it. Enough complaints happened that the FT4 was changed so that the user could change the battery (but not before I had already gotten my FT7). Of course there has probably…

I appreciate the post. I just don't like the taste of it personally.

You are underweight. Not that you will listen to any of us. The only thing I really have to add that I hope you will listen to is to realize that the doctor's scale and your scale at home are not going to be calibrated exactly the same. His 118 might very well be your scale's 112/113. I wouldn't freak out and call it a 5…

I bet you aren't weighing your food. Go get a food scale and make sure you are logging accurately. You'd be surprised :)

Because we don't want newbies reading and believing it. Eating 8g of protein a day is HARMFUL.

Oh I know it's a myth. I was more responding to her saying that there was no proof (whether it did or not). I guess I should have made that more clear. There is proof that starvation mode (as perpetuated here on a diet forum) does not exist. True starvation is a real thing and can slow the metabolism but won't likely apply…
-
This may have been mentioned already but I haven't gotten that far. There was actually at least one very famous starvation experiment conducted right here in the U.S. I'll just link the wiki for ease but you should check it out the pictures of the people during the experiment.…

Well of course a hot tub company will tell you that. They want to sell you a hot tub! Scientific evidence please. PubMed Article? I'm laughing so hard I can't breathe. Wonder how many calories that burns?
-
Not to mention that if you ever actually read the warnings most of them state not to sit in a hot tub for more than 15 mins as it could raise your core temperature and cause damage to your organs. Not that many people actually listen (including myself I'll admit).

Because posting "hokey" as you put it is just as harmful as all those fad diets out there promoted by Dr. Oz. Newbies that start today might read your post and actually believe you. Posting that you only need need 8g of protein a day (2 tbsp of peanut butter) is HARMFUL. Then trying to backpedal and say that this is all…

Show me the publication that says this. And I don't mean a Women's World magazine.

He should be able to go to your diary entry for that day and copy that meal to his diary.

The worst serving size that got me to be honest was my favorite popcorn, Skinny Pop. I saw "serving size 4 cups", thought about my 4 cup measuring cup at home, and assumed I could eat half the bag for only 155 calories. At worst, I could eat the whole bag for 310. After doing so, several times, I just happened to take a…

I guess I have to concur. I just measured it out (without milk) and it is plenty for me (especially after adding milk). Edit: Resized

Judge Judy. Oh yeah.

Too lazy right now to read the entire thing (sorry), but It isn't necessarily bad but it is regarded that way because it generally isn't sustainable and leads to the person eventually reverting back to their old ways and gaining it all back. I'm sure there are folks out there who've lost 30 lbs in a month and have kept it…

I eat Cheerios and using my scale to weigh out 28g is a WHOLE lot of cereal (to me at least) and much more than a "1 cup" serving. So maybe all these folks freaking out about cereal need to start actually weighing it or maybe I'm just weird in thinking that 28g is a huge serving. The thread has been entirely entertaining…
