  • MFP is a tool. And, since I'm not technically "in the rooms", I can honestly say that OA is also a tool. I use many tools to help with my recovery, and I don't claim that any one of them is the be all and end all. They are all parts of a bigger picture. When in the rooms, we're only speak of our recovery through OA.... but…
  • Hi Mike. I can relate to what you said about being scared to death by the thought of the surgery - I, too, am giving myself one more chance to do it on my own before I resort to surgery. I'm 43. Highest weight was 39?. When I saw the "9" I couldn't look at the last number. I know I got very close to 400. I lost over 70 lbs…
  • How has the search been for a new sponsor? Don't give up.
  • I have found, for me, that the first thing that comes is the awareness. then I need the willingness to behave differently... once I have the willingness I need to take the action (with the tools of the program) to make things happen. great job on the awareness!

  • hi Ashley - glad to meet you here. Congrats on all the success -- and starting at the gym! That is great!! And yes, we can do this together. It definitely requires a good support system. Do you have anyone to go to the gym with?
  • I am on Sparkpeople and the one thing I love about that site is setting customized goals and tracking them. Can't seem to find that here.... but I love the food tracking interface a lot better here. It is simple... spark is unnecessarily complex and busy for nutrition tracking.
  • Also - make up playlists for your mp3 player specifically intended to get you moving. You can even do a search online for other people's workout playlists. Then you just need to match what you have in your music library to various lists.
  • I just found out there are a lot of exercise workouts on Youtube. When I did a search including "obese" they had quite a few targetted towards more sedentary people. My internet is very slow, however so I will have to set aside some time to download and save them on my computer. And - if you don't know how to do that there…
  • Hi there! I just recently joined MFP. I'm glad to find a group for 200+ losers. I know that we have a struggle that goes beyond just the norm and it is great to do it with people who are travelling the same road. My highest weight was close to 400 lbs. I'm 5'9", female... I'm currently at 366. I live in rural Ontario,…
  • it really depends on your height... AND I found it best to do calculations at a number of different online calculators. They are all different. I averaged them.
