  • Thanks for the link! I will definitely bookmark that. The new one is nearly incomprehensible and certainly doesn't work well either.
  • I agree with the comments above. Especially the one about portions generally being too big. So I almost always bring half home. I also try to be sure, when trying to determine calories, to overestimate the calories, as well.
  • Every morning ... I don't get inordinately excited about either losses or gains---I am watching the overall pattern. As long as, overall, I continue to lose weight, I'm content. I think daily weighing provides more data, thus giving a more realistic picture of any progress (or lack of progress) I'm making.
  • I'm another daily weigher. I agree that it helps to keep me on track and accountable. It works for me because I understand that weight will go up and down due to many of the factors listed above. Weighing daily and recording those weights can be useful in understanding the natural variation in weight from day-to-day. For…
  • Jay, sounds good with the ham. Another perfect breakfast sandwich component Cee, Glad it helped. Adding Parmesan sounds tasty--not sure how or when I would add the milk, though.
  • Susan, What was the recipe? Could you post it here?
  • No, I prefer the method where you put room temperature eggs in a pan, cover with cold water, bring to boil over medium heat, then immediately remove and let stand (covered) for 12 minutes. I haven't tried the oven baked method, but I think it might be useful if you needed to boil a LOT of eggs at one time.
  • Sorry--I left out the obvious! I bake at 350 degrees. I'm going to try to put in a link to the pan I use below: http://www.amazon.com/Chicago-Metallic-Non-Stick-Original-Muffin/dp/B003YKGRBY/ref=dp_ob_title_kitchen
  • I like breakfast sandwiches, too. I made a couple eggs for lunch the other day and had them on an English muffin with a slice of turkey bacon---very satisfying.
  • I appreciate the information about Google Chrome. I installed it, and everything seems to work fine now. It takes a little getting used to, after using IE for so many years, but it is so very nice not to have those long delays at skinnytaste and a few other websites I like to access. Thanks!
  • Thanks---I printed the recipe and hope to try it soon. Looks good.
  • Mmm ... those all sound so good. Would you be willing to tell us how you make these things, especially the tikka masala, cumin rice, tomatilo sauce, the fajita seasoning---well, everything really?
  • I don't have any earmarked "cheat" days. As others have said, it seems contrary to readjusting my overall eating habits. I do go out to eat with friends and family once a week, and I often don't now where we're going until shortly before. I try to make sure I eat especialy healthy and light earlier in the day to minimize…
  • I have had a Magic Bullet for years, and love it. I rarely use my blender---I'd rather do several batches in the Magic Bullet, than get out my larger blender to blend something all at once. I also love that it is so easy to clean afterward. It has held up very well, and I've been happy with the smoothies I've made in it. I…
  • Would love to try, but at my age/weight/activity level, if I ate 3000 calories a day I would be ready for Sumo wrestling in no time! It will be interesting, though, to hear updates on how it works out for you.
  • That's a tough situation, especially with medical professionals contradicting one other. If you decide to make adjustments to your diet, I would do so incrementally and very carefully. Add a small amount of something and see how your body reacts. Then try increasing it gradually over time, and see how it works for you.…
  • I love tilapia! I had been preparing it with dried bread crumbs and baking it in the oven. However, lately I've been preparing it differently. I place one filet on a piece of foil and top with a mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and lemon pepper/pepper (for 3 filets, I used 1-1/2 tsp lemon juice and 1 tsp olive…

  • Wow! Great responses. I haven't read all of them yet, as MIL fell today and had to be taken to the hospital to be checked out. I will, though, and I'm looking forward to it. I just wanted to mention that I received several friend requests from this thread, which I do appreciate. However, I'm not the best of friends, as I…
  • Gastroparesis can be very serious. Have you spoken to your doctor about a good diet for weight loss? Even better, perhaps he/she would refer you to a dietician who could work with you to meet your weight goals AND manage your illness.
  • Thanks everyone for all the responses. I need to go and get some real work done now, but I'll be back later to look at some diaries and read/reread the responses.
  • Yeah, I didn't want to imply that I don't eat out. In fact, we meet family and friends once a week for a meal at a restaurant. Everyone takes turns choosing, so I often don't know where we're going until the time comes. And I've even been known to pick up fast food on occasion, but it's not a regular thing.
  • One more reply came in while I was posting---thanks. What do we like to eat? We like spicy foods (as in hot!) and highly seasoned things. Mostly I like variety. I would love more recipes with ground turkey. I mostly use it in things like chili or tacos, but I would love to know how to cook it by itself so that it would be…
  • Thank you both---I really appreciate your offering to share recipes, too. I always plan meals a week (or more) ahead, too. Then I enter them in my food diaries in advance. I find it really helpful for making sure I eat properly the rest of the day to balance out the day nutritionally and calorically (is that a word?).Of…
  • I took a look at a few days in your food diary, and I think whoever was making snarky remarks was looking for something to criticize. They could just as easily have commended you for all the things you're doing right. I suspect a key word in the OP was "unexpectedly." If you had advance notice, I suspect you would have…
  • Morkiemama, You're welcome. I hope you find it as useful as I do.
  • Nighttime. I work at home and often stay up late working, and I think the exhaustion makes me think I need to eat. All I can suggest is something I'm sure you're already doing---make good use of the Food Diary. I''ve found it useful to enter my day's food plan at least a day ahead (I usually enter our main…
  • I agree---there is a lot of hidden salt in food. I was surprised to find that even many frozen vegetables (no sauces, just the vegetable) have salt. As an added obstacle, I LOVE salt. I grew up in a family where our food was heavily salted, and we all added more at the table. I've found adding some lemon helps, but I…
  • Once you lose the weight and are maintaining, will you NEVER eat something you really like at an Italian restaurant? IMHO, it's good to learn how to eat for the long run when dieting, so ordering something you like and eating half would be a great decision. Maybe eat lighter during the day before you go out to eat. Track…
  • I have never attended a WW meeting or even joined online. However, I have learned about the WW program in detail and then followed the plan on my own. It worked well in terms of reasonable weight loss and proper nutrition. I eventually found my way over here when looking for calorie information I was having trouble finding…
