How to Enter Recipes
I have been MIA here for some time, but decided to start tracking food again. I wanted to add a recipe (as I did many times in the past), and found the procedure totally confusing. In the past, I could choose individual ingredients according to brands, contents, etc. Now I'm just supposed to enter a list of all the…

Baked Eggs
Several weeks ago I started thinking about trying to bake eggs instead of frying them. I recently got a new gas cooktop with higher BTU burners and, for some reason, I've had trouble adapting to cooking eggs on it. DH is very picky about his eggs---he likes them over medium, with the egg yolks cooked to a gelatin-like…

Love skinnytaste.com, but ...
My computer doesn't like the site. Every time I go to that site, I have repeated diffiuclites with a message popping up that tells me the site is running a long script that is causing Internet Explorer to run slowly. I have tried every fix I could find online, and I still have the problem. Anyone else dealing with this?…

Anyone cook and eat actual meals most/all days?
I am always looking for more ideas for meals that fit into my eating plan, so I often take a look at people's open diaries for new ideas. I like a lot of variety in my meals and, since I cook for my family, I have learned that I can eat almost everything they eat---just smaller portions and limiting extras like desserts.…

Large Caloric Deficits + High Level of Exercise
I came across this article, and it made me think of some posts where people say they have been eating a very low calorie diet and doing intensive, freqeunt exercise, but they're not losing weight. I'm wondering what those of you who have more knowledge about this subject think the article at the following link makes sense?…

Not doing so well
I'm holding steady with the weight loss, but I haven't recorded food or done any of the other things I've been doing for weight loss. This weekend I had to take my cat into the emergency vet, expecting we'd adjust his medicine or something like that, but didn't want to wait to take him to the regular vet becuase he just…

Good News - Bad News
The good news is I recorded another pound lost today. The "bad" news is that I recently bought a new, more accurate scale and have been weighing myself on both my old and new scales for the past several weeks. This week I've transitioned from the old to the new scale as my official weigh-in report. I like that this scale…

Hungry Lately
Since starting weight loss around the first of the year, I've eaten according to whatever my food plan was at the time, rarely exceeding my planned amount of calories for the day. On the rare occasion I would go over, it was usually for a planned event and it was not drastically over---usually about maintenance level. I…

I don't like exercising much
Before my daughter's disabilities became more severe, I was able to go camping, skiing, hiking---things I enjoy---and I was able to get a lot of exercise from those things. Also, before my allergies and asthma became so severe, I was able to spend days working in the garden, which also involved considerable physical…

Fitbit?
Anyone here use a Fitbit? Was it helpful in determining whether your TDEE and BMR are accurate? What do you like best about it?

Best Combination of Cardio & Weight Lifting
I am 60 years old and recently started trying to introduce exercise into my week. I've been making slow progress, but can see some improvement. I've been trying to lift weights twice a week and do cardio (45-60 minutes) three times a week. When I can, I add a short burst of cardio (20-30 minutes) after the weight lifting.…

How Important is Protein?
I consistently fail to meet my protein intake goals (macros set 40% carbs, 30% protein, 30% fat). I am not, nor will I likely ever be a heavy lifter. I have recently begun doing some weight training for the first time in my life (I'm 60 years old), but I'm working with dumbbells, starting with mere 5 lb dumbells. I do hope…

Have Most Started Eating More When You Plateaued?
I'm wondering when in the weight loss process you switched over to eating more. Was it when you hit a plateau that you couldn't seem to break? Or did you up your food intake when you were still losing? I have been steadily losing (usually 2 lbs per week, with a couple 1 lb losses) and eating my BMR. I think I need to go…

Narrow Margin Between TDEE and BMR
I checked at Fit 2 Fat and determined that my TDEE is 1610 and BMR is 1349---a measly difference of 261! It was suggested at Fit2Fat that, for a sedentary level, I should consume 1494 calories. At that rate, I would lose only a pound a month. Right now I'm eating just at the BMR level---up from 1200 calories previously. Up…

What's an old lady to do?
Seriously, what should I do about exercise. I am sixty years old, and I really don't feel like an "old lady," but I have led a pretty sedentary life for a number of years and wonder what would be considered safe and effective way to start out exercising and how to proceed to increase exercise as I go along. I have to…

Question About Eating Enough
I've been tracking food here for the past month, as well as getting informed by doing a lot of reading on this site. I've read various posts about being sure to eat enough, both for good health and to avoid having the body go into "starvation mode." I do have one question that I haven't seen addressed, although I may have…
