  • Yes. Sometimes your body just wants you to be at a certain weight, and it can be 5,10, 20, 30 or more pounds from your goal. Some people just have a hard time losing weight quickly, and if you are doing everything right sometimes you just have to be patient. So mix it up a bit, keep at it, exercise some more, and you'll…
  • There are a ton of things you can do to build muscle and strength train without "weights". Body weight exercises are one (like the strength/power parts of Insanity). I've also done things like kettlebell workouts using a big ol' thing of laundry soap.
  • Some of us do eat a large quantity of peanut butter on a daily basis - don't judge!
  • I find it is ok - tastes 75% like peanut butter for 40% of the calories, and that's good for me. :) I do like PB2 better. Plus you can get it in chocolate flavor, and the powder is SUPER convenient. I keep a bag at work for when I need a snack - on an apple, banana, bread, or just plain. Plus, you can order it on amazon.
  • I was doing moderate lifting/cardio workouts 2-3 times a week. I started adding in 3-4 Insanity workouts per week (not following the program exactly) and have been doing so for 3 weeks. I don't track specifically, but have noticed definite improvements in endurance, strength, and have dropped a few pounds and a pants size…
  • I had a similar issue, and found that switching foods helped. I used to eat a lot of veggies/fresh stuff, but never hit my protein goals. Now I eat greek yogurt for breakfast, a lunch with protein, nuts, fruits, and veggies, and try to eat a ton of veggies and protein at home. I have started snacking on PB2 - 45 calories…
  • Way to go EVERYBODY!!! You are all awesome!!
  • It took a buddy to motivate me, some good running shoes to stop my feet from hurting, and the feeling that I got when I finished my first race to keep me going :)
  • There's a type of 'sore' that can actually feel better if you run again (maybe not as far), but there's another type of sore that is the 'you need to stop for a while and rethink this' sore. Try a short run again and see how you feel - and if it is the first kind, it should start to get better as your body gets used to the…
  • I do the insanity workouts 4 days a week, then running/circuits the other days. I find that this works better for me than just doing the videos. Good luck and have fun!
  • Or up to 200+...depending on what is in them and how big they are!
  • As soon as I saw that sandwich with 2 slices of bread (100 calories each) listed at 248 calories total - Yeah, that's not gonna happen... And, the muffin was even worse than I thought!
  • Miller 64 has about 3% ABV. There are quite a few beers that have 4-5% ABV that are a lot higher in the calorie range - it really depends on style, ingredients, etc. This is a good starting point: http://www.alcoholcontents.com/beer/
  • Most liquors are around 80 calories per ounce, but a lot of US shots are 1.5 ounces, so estimating 100-120 is a safer bet. Bar drinks will often have 2-3 ounces of liquor, which put you up to 160-200 calories.
  • It really makes a difference what type you are drinking. Guiness and Sam Adams light are about that range. Coors, miller, and bud light are around 100-120. IPAs, Belgians, and other "strong" beers can have 200-250 (even more for a pint). I love beers, especially microbrews, but sometimes you have to do quite a bit of…
  • Chobani plain, with added jam and fruit. I eat it 5 days a week :)
  • If you are losing weight at 1 pound per week and up your calories ~500 calories a day, that will negate your previous calorie deficit and you would oestensibly stay at the same weight. (500 calories * 7 days = 3500 calories = 1 pound)
  • Try adding exercises that target the core to tone that area. It won't make the fat come off in a specific area, but can tighten and improve how your stomach looks.
  • I think you can easily play around with MFP to get the results you want with Insanity. My experience is this - I don't follow the Insanity diet plan - I set my MFP macros at 40/30/30 and log/eat 200-300 calories for each Insanity workout (I start at 1700 pre-exercise). This has kept me losing weight while not being too…
  • I want Type A's to understand that Type B's are being supportive in their own way (and vise versa)
  • I would add that for some, you overeat for the same reason you sit there and look at the internet or watch a tv show that is only remotely interesting. Your body/brain just gets in the habit of doing something, and takes the path of least resistance.
  • If you are short on time, try combining some of your strength training with cardio. There are a ton of ways that you can work abs/arms that include cardio - combined arm/leg exercises, classes like Body Pump, Jillian Michaels programs, etc. Or do quick cardio intervals between sets if you like more traditional exercises.
  • It's a lot harder to lose 12 pounds when you are close to your goal weight, vs someone who has 100 pounds to lose. Keep with it, and be dilligent - you can do this!
  • I like to make soups and then bring them for lunch (non-spillable tupperware is awesome!). Nuts, string cheese, fruit, PB2 (on a sandwich, crackers, or fruit), and baby carrots are all staples for me. Trader Joe's also has some great 300-600 calorie frozen meals that I will occasionally bring.
  • I did body pump regularly for a year and loved it. One day a few months in I thought I had a bruise on my shoulder....nope it was just my shoulders getting "cut" as my instructor said!! I got more tone/definition from body pump than by lifting on my own (because it is easier for me to stick with classes). The key is to go…
  • I like to keep things private, but to each their own. Although I do think with facebook, etc in some cases the 'talking' about it can become to some people more important than 'doing' it.
  • Also, I was inspired to do Insanity by another MFP'ers blog - she's now onto another program, but you can take a look at the last few months and see her blog her progress through Insanity - it is incredibly inspiring!! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/petithamu
  • I'm doing Insanity combined with other exercise, so averaging 3-4 days per week. I'm about 1/4 of the way through the program and I can definitely see results in terms of increased endurance, toned abs/legs/a**. The program is hard, but do what you can. You'll see the people on the program take a lot of breaks, and you…
  • ...wow. Congrats. I haven't seen someone get that much result from 30DS before - you must have rocked it out!
  • There is nothing wrong with this plan, just because it doesn't fit into how you are defining HIIT.
