Arizona Spartan Sprint Feb 7th?
Anybody else running? I'll be there!! I've done one Super before in Illinois, so would be interested in any tips on the Spring and/or the Arizona course. I saw it was recommended to bring a headlamp - is there a cave? Is it dusty? Illinois was MUDDY as heck, but I'm thinking this one will be different....

Spartans?
Any Spartans out there? Any good Spartan groups? I'm running the Arizona spring in February - would love to meet others who might be running!

Ethiopian food suggestions
Going out tonight with some buddies, so I'm looking for suggestions to order. I like spicy food and am ok with both meat and vegetarian. What is tasty? What is healthy? What is NOT healthy that I should avoid?

Adjustable weights - recommendations please!
I'd like to start doing some more lifting at home, and was thinking about those adjustable weight dumbbells. Has anyone had success with these? What type do you use? I'm looking for some recommendations - GO!

Does this happen to you!
Weight loss is not linear, I know. But the way my body works sometimes makes me crazy! I'll work out and eat right for a few weeks and be losing, and then suddenly plateau. Then, something happens to disrupt my routine, I'll think that I was slacking off or eating too much, but BAM! as soon as I get back into my routine I…

Insanity modifications
Just curious what other people are doing. I'm in Month 2 Week 2, and I can't yet do Level 3 drills (can't do pushups that fast), Power Pushups, and the side-to-side on your hands thing in the warmup. This is due in part to lack of upper body/core strength but also I have wrist issues. I usually end up doing a combination…

Ode to that shirt in the back of my closet...
Hey. Shirt. Yes you. The blue one. You've always fit a little bit weird. Fluffy in the sleeves and a bit too long, and you just hit me at all the wrong places. You're a bit too casual for work, but on the weekends I'm a jeans and t-shirts kind of gal. Don't get me wrong, you're a cute color, and I'm sure you would make…

The one food you can't live without?
I'm talking in terms of the food that keeps you on track, gets you through the day, helps your macros - somehow helps you get closer to your goal, a step at a time. For me, its a fight between cheese sticks and greek yogurt. I eat both every day!

How long does it take you to get ready in the morning?
I'm just curious - If I am not working out, I get up at 6:45 (or 6:30 if it is my turn to walk dog) to get out of the house at 7:15. This includes shower, dressing, packing breakfast and lunch. I see some people say that they get up more than an hour before they leave - what do you do with this time? Do you like having…

Thursday NSV (Non Scale Victory) Thread
So, last night I rushed back into town late after a conference. Was walking downtown towards my office in my 'I'm tired so going to dress casual" office pants, when I suddenly remember a client meeting I have today. Nothing for it - I'm going to have to stop in and buy some dress pants. I usually buy my pants online at a…

What secretly annoys you, but shouldn't?
Now, don't get me wrong here - I'm not blaming the person (I think it is GREAT when people make healthy choices), but I sometimes think that the universe is being a bit unfair when a person with unhealthy eating/exercise habits can suddenly decide to eat healthy and start exercise, and almost immediately drop 10+ pounds,…

What housework has to do with waistlines article
In a nutshell, the study states that by spending less energy on cooking and cleaning, and more energy in front of a computer or on the phone, the average person staying at home today burns 150-350 calories less a day than the average person in the 1960s. Over months and years this adds up to a lot!…

Giving up foods because you are nice
Anyone ever have to give up foods that you like due to someone else's need to stop eating them? The post about ice cream made me think about it, because I had to give up ice cream due to the fact that other people in my house can't eat small portions of it. (I love ice cream and am proud when I eat a sensible serving, but…

Victorious over the breakfast blues today!
I usually eat breakfast at my desk, but have been getting a bit tired of oatmeal and just greek yogurt. I also usually have a bunch of nuts and fresh fruit snacks at my desk, so today I got creative and came up with a new recipe - its high in calcium and protein, and super delicious!! 1 cup fat free greek yogurt. 1 tbsp…

protein - where did it all go?
For a while I was doing good on my 40/30/30 carbs/protein/fat ratio, and then suddenly its been hard lately to get enough protein. My eating habits went to heck for about 2 weeks - I thought I was 'back on the wagon', but now I feel like my diet is all out of whack. I am guessing it has something to do with not having…

What's your favorite 30Day Shred Level?
Mine is Level 3. For some reason I always find Level 2 is hard to get through (maybe because I hate lunges), but then when I get to Level 3, I feel re-energized and excited to push through to the end.

What do you think when someone on MFP is losing too fast?
Here's something that I'm frustrated with - Many, many people on this site are supportive about "smart" ways to lose weight, i.e. don't diet change your lifestyle, aim for 1-2 pounds a week, exercise, etc. HOWEVER... I just saw a post of someone's 'success story' with pictures. Now, don't get me wrong, this person looked…

How do you increase the iron in your diet?
So I started tracking my iron and calcium intake along with my other nutritional needs, because I need a reminder to eat foods with both nutrients. I've been doing ok keeping my calcium up by adding yogurt and cheese to my lunch, but I'm still having trouble getting enough iron. I don't really want to up my meat intake (1…

I made it to day 20 of 30 day shred!
Since everybody's talking about it - I just thought I had to share! I made it through level 2! Woooohoooo almost ready to start on Level 3! AND - I just did a round of Level 1 today after doing a week of Level 2 - it is AMAZING how easy it felt compared to the first day! I felt like Natalie - literally kicking myself in…

30 day shred: day 1 is MINE!
I heard so many good things about 30 day shred and I'm tired of not being able to fit in gym time, so tonight I downloaded myself a copy and just finished my first workout! I have to say, Jillian Michaels knows EXACTLY when I am ready to quit, and her comments were either funny or motivating enough for me to keep going to…

Get over the midweek slump with a run!
I just added a 1 mile run to my regular Wednesday workout and I feel great! I challenge anybody who is working out today to do the same - add 10-15 minutes to your regular workout to get over the midweek slump!

My gym is closed this week :(
I made it to the gym 5 times last week, but this week the gym is closed and I have to work late every night. Any suggestions on fun ways to squeeze in mini-workouts at work?
