Ode to that shirt in the back of my closet...

Hey. Shirt. Yes you. The blue one.
You've always fit a little bit weird. Fluffy in the sleeves and a bit too long, and you just hit me at all the wrong places.
You're a bit too casual for work, but on the weekends I'm a jeans and t-shirts kind of gal.
Don't get me wrong, you're a cute color, and I'm sure you would make another girl very happy.
But long ago we figured out that we were just not compatible.
Which is why you are in the back of the closet. Sorry.
Yet even from your lowly state, you occasionally catch my eye. Like this morning
When I was looking for something to wear for casual Friday.
Something I could throw in my bike bag that wouldn't get too wrinkly.
And from the closet I heard you whisper.
You said, "Hey - I am already wrinkly. How much worse can I get?"
Not your standard pickup line, but I was sold.
I threw you in my bag, and got on my bike.
And when I got to work and opened my bag, there you were.
Like a sad blue sapphire.
At this point I was committed, so I put you on.
And.
And..
And...
You looked fabulous.
(Granted, still a bit wrinkled).
But fabulous.
Your curves curved over my curves.
Your fluffy sleeves accentuated my newly defined triceps.
And you worked seamlessly with my Wrangler jeans to make it look like I had a waist.
You were beautiful.
I am beautiful.
Thank you, shirt.
Thank you for believing in me.
