  • Alrite - left work too late to run. It was already dark out when I got home:grumble: I got through 50 minutes of Jillian's "Banish Fat" DVD. Did it tonight for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. It's a great cardio and core workout. I entered it as 30 minutes of kickboxing and 10 minutes of calisthenics (10…
  • Good Afternoon All ~ Not feeling too motivated today. So far, the work week is dragging and stressing me out. I know I'll feel better after a run though. I'm going to make it a point to not leave work until I get my run in. I plan pushin' it for about 30 minutes...then doing some strength training at home (didn't get a…
  • whenever I have a chocolate craving I have a weight watchers fudge bar or a fat free pudding cup. The weight watchers fudge bars are the best. and they only have 100 cals.... : ) I stock up.
  • Wait a minute. I wasn't confused before. Now I am. SHboss - can you explain this a little more? I usually do a long hard cardio work out in the morning or at lunch - then lift weights in the evening. I do this at least 2-3 times a week. I thought I was doing the right thing by doing cardio and hitting the weights all in…
  • Did a 45 minutes spinning class today at lunch! Going to do Jillian's 30 Day Shred tonight while my salmon is baking. :flowerforyou: So that gives me 45 minutes of cardio and another 20 of strength training. Does that make me 4/4? When do our weeks start again? Nice job on the weight loss Missou! I'm hopin' to be there…
  • A good method to avoid processed foods is to stick to the outside aisles of the grocery store. I think Bruiseviolet already mentioned this. I make sure I stick to the veggie/fruit sections, the meats, bakery and dairy. If I do wander down the inner aisles, it's for seasoning, or a certain condiment. But I find that if I…
  • Went for a 45 minute run....think I covered almost 5 miles...then did a full-body weight lifting session for 35 minutes... Am sure feeling it now. Was gonna hit the elliptical for another 20 minutes tonight but my body is achin' . Tomorrow is going to be a light day...does Yoga/Pilates and stretching count? I know those…
  • Good Morning All - Haven't had access to a computer for the last few days but - I worked out on Friday morning - 40 minutes of running (quarter mile sprints) broken up by various calisthenics (Pull-ups, burpees, push ups, shoulder presses) with a 15 lb weight vest on. Not sure how many calories that burned but it kicked my…
  • Bad DAY!?!? Hell - I had a bad weekend. my running/ lifting/ ellipticizing (is that a verb?) today is a pathetic attempt to make up for the hundreds of excess calories and gallons of booze I'm sure I consumed this weekend. I've been kicking my *kitten* all morning and am determined to get back on track today.... Don't…
  • Thanks everyone. I am usually really good about having little mini-treats in moderation. I'll have 5 or 6 m&ms after dinner at night and that will kick my sweet craving. I KNOW the alcohol adds to my unnecessary cravings and then the next day I KNOW my body burns less fat because it is too busy burning off the toxins from…
  • My problem in the morning is time: I know it's not all-natural or organic - but Jimmy Dean makes these frozen morning D-Lites. They are a turkey sausage patty, low-fat cheese and egg whites on a whole wheat english muffin... They are around 250 calories, 8 grams of fat and around 20 grams of protein. Keep me full til lunch…

  • Did 30-Day shred this morning....gonna run 3 miles on my lunch... Ugh - so glad the week is almost over...it's been a long one....
  • Hi - I haven't been able to log on but on Sunday I played soccer for 40 minutes and Monday went on a quick 3 mile run...not a whole lot in the last two days...but better than nothing I guess! I am going to run again tonight and hopefully get the 30-Day shred in too...
  • Got in a 4 mile run...took me about 40 minutes...will do another 20 minutes of pilates tonight!
  • Jan 1st...I did 45 min on the elliptical and then lifted weights for 20 min... Today I am going to go down to the harbor and run 4 miles...maybe another lift...we'll see... Can you post this chart every week?
  • Come up with an easy-to-stick-with routine. A lot of DVDs use this. Do a few minutes of jumping jacks, then a strength training exercise - like push-ups or crunches. Follow with running in place, then another strength exercise (lunges, shoulder press). Then jump rope then another strength exercise (tricep dips, calf…

  • Thanks ya'll...I like the teeth-whitening tip...that will kill two birds with one stone! The hobby is a good idea too...I used to play sports at night after work and that helped.
  • I use hummus to spread on the wraps before filling them with meat. cheese, veggies, etc...it replaces mayo or dressing and has the "good fat" and not as many calories...
  • Wow - this is a pretty intense challenge...it seems like sucha big goal...Alrite - I'll give it a shot. I've always followed the method of thought that you need one or two rest days every week. But I guess with just some light cardio or weight work...it wouldn't hurt. It is a big goal...but here goes nuthin'
  • Why thank you dear - since you are starting your weight loss journey you should get some of those Laughing Cow cheese wedges. They are SO yummy, have very little calories and are portion controlled. I spread them on my sandwiches now instead of fatty mayo and use it in A LOT of my cooking (I'm not a very good cook and…
  • I had a bunch of random ingredients left in my fridge last night and made killer stuffed pork chops! Get a lil chop...trim the fat... I mixed two Laughing Cow garlic cheese wedges (35 cals each) with some pine nuts and fresh spinach. Sliced a little cut in the pork chop...added salt and pepper to the meat and stuffed in…
  • Good job SHEboss... took the words right outta my mouth! Vodka LOOKS like water...but that is the ONLY characteristic they share!
  • If you want a simple way to start working out that is private and doesn't take up a lot of your time...try Jillian Michael's 30-Day Shred. It's an easy-to-find DVD on Amazon or at Wal-mart...and the only equipment you need are two small free weights. Each workout is only 20 minutes a day and she shows you ways to modify…
  • I can't. And couldn't last night. I love Christmas beers!
  • Ugh - I had a cheat day/night last night. I'm hurting today and trying to drag my butt off of the couch to go run. Huge late night dinner with friends at an awesome brewery. So of course i had three or four delicious beers. : ) And it was my exercise day off because I was so sore from five days of straight working out. So…
  • I like to integrate push-ups, dips, pull-ups, mountain climbers, etc on some of my cardio days. I will do 20 minutes of running/bliking/elliptical, then rotate through 3-4 of the above exercises. Jump back on the cardio machine for 10 minutes, then do the upper body work again, one more 10 minute cardio blast, a final…
  • Sorry! Didn't mean to sound so whiney
  • I'm jealous. A year and a half ago I broke my ankle, resulting in a change in my stride, resulting in a hip fracture, resulting in another change in my stride/stance, and now I'm working on trying to heal my third small fracture in my shin...same leg. And I'm not even 28 yet... Sigh...I'd give anything for a broken toe!…
  • Yes...I think I get what you're saying. It's like - I know I can lose 5 pounds in two days by starving myself...but that weight loss wouldn't be for long -term and as soon as I eat something, my weight will go back up again. It's been a few days without booze...here comes the weekend - the real test! :drinker:
  • I'm just following the suggested diet with P90X... I'm not sticking to it exactly. I seem to go over on my carbs almost everyday...but I'm also doing about 30-45 of cardio (cycling or elliptical) in addition to the p90X routine, so I'm not too concerned about it. Thanks for the ideas everyone - Eggs are pure genious. I…
