  • Well, I had my first child at 18, so I've always had to juggle working out against taking care of someone else. When I had my first son, I used to get up early (before school and work) and do Richard Simmons' "Sweating to the Oldies"...yep, Richard Simmons...LOL...but it worked, I liked it, so I stuck to it...for a while.…
  • Such an awesome, post! Your worked hard and deserve the reward. Nothing better than love and commitment.
  • Wow 35lbs in six months is awesome!! Congratulations on your accomplishment and thank you for sharing your story and what has worked for you!
  • Awesome job!! Congratulations. So impressed. Thank you for sharing.
  • So inspiring! Great work!
  • Great work!! Keep doing what you are doing!
  • I'm running one on Sunday, so will post then...and use the info here as a guideline. I am so not fast, and during the runs at home am doing about 10:45 pace, but only up to 3 miles, so that would be 32:15. We'll see if being in a "race" environment pushes me to go faster!
  • WOW...You are awesome!! Your loss is impressive, and you are obviously doing something right! So, remember that saying "If it ain't broke...don't fix it". Sounds like you know your body and you are making improvements as you go. I am a new runner also, started in April. I know that feeling some days you feel like you can…
  • I'll join....if you are okay with a shorty...I'm only 5'8". CW 179 GW 160 I think I will probably readjust my goal at some point, but the bigger numbers get me anxious and crush my confidence. So, small goals, and after starting at 200 lbs, and down 21, I think I can do another 19 and then...we'll see
  • I think distracted drivers are hazard runners have to be conscious and prepared for. It sucks, but it's the way it is. Urban, rural...it doesn't really matter. If you can get out earlier and avoid her, great. Try that. Wear reflective clothing, don't wear headphones, run towards traffic (as it seems you already do). But,…
  • Congrats on completing the C25K program, it really is a great way to start running. I agree with that which most people hear have said...just keep running. The more you run, the better you will get, the easier it will feel and the more you will improve. I am in a similar spot. I completed the program last month and have a…
  • anyone have any feedback on the course and required fitness level? I signed up with a group of friends for one in September, but now half of my gf's are backing out. I still want to do it...even if it's alone. But will I make it? I can run 5k, I am reasonably strong, but not sure at all what I need to be able to…

  • You look soo much younger...and happier! Keep at it. You've done such great work so far and there is more good stuff ahead for you! Truly inspiring!! Thank you for sharing!
  • "Jogging is a form of trotting or running at a slow or leisurely pace. The main intention is to increase physical fitness with less stress on the body than from faster running, or to maintain a steady speed for longer periods of time. Performed over long distances, it is a form of aerobic endurance training." So it's not…
  • I learned today that the average pace for a 40 yo female running a 5k is slower than my (so far) average 5k pace...psyched! http://www.pace-calculator.com/average-5k-pace-by-age-sex.php
  • I'm sure it is. You are young and your metabolism is prime. You really shouldn't be cutting any calories if you are working out so much. Are you sure you need to lose weight? You must be fairly thin to begin with given your height and weight. It sounds like you just want to tighten things up and should try to reduce your…
  • I think water is one of the best weight loss and fitness aids available, but there is no "right" formula for everyone. I normally drink a ton of water, and when I don't I notice that I am more tired and less active. Try to have a big glass (not just 8oz) when you get up in the morning, before and during (that's two…
  • Awesome work!! I think it's easy to get discouraged and seeing successes like yours helps keep others on track and motivated.
  • I did it last month and lost 6lbs. I did not follow her diet plan, but my calories are already set about 1200 a day. While the weight loss was nice and steady, I feel like the change in my body was the biggest plus, I did drop a pants size, and loss inches. But I also felt really strong and a lot more capable at the end of…
  • I started a C25K program in April, finished it the end of June and have my first official 5k next Sunday. My 'results' so far...I ran a 5k with my group in June, I run 2-4 times a week consistently, and have improved my speed, distance and endurance. I still hate every second which I am running, and have not hit that…
  • I am sensing a common theme here, lots of busy people sacrificing some sleep to get up early to work out. I did it 20 years ago as a single mom, working full time and going to school and I do it now, married mom with one crazy job, but 3 crazy kids. I wish I had been consistent throughout all the years in between...But it…
  • Isn't life so full of revelations? We all think we know everything, until that moment we realize what fools we are...oh well. I don't know any woman in her 30's who believes what she did in her 20s...we change, we grow and we learn. It's all good.
  • One of my favorites quotes is from Thomas Edison "I haven't failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that won't work". You have found out that you need to keep logging. You need to stay active and you need to be vigilant. And thank you for sharing that lesson with us! You can do this, you're dedicated to your long term health…
  • Oh sweetheart, you need to get some help. Find a therapist or a good friend to talk to and figure out what's triggering your binges. You mentioned battling depression, if there is someone you work with for that, reach out to them for help. We all of days when we get off track, but this sounds like something more. I am so…
  • Congratulations on approaching your goal of completing your first 5k!! I hope you have a blast, enjoying every second of it!! I am sure there will be some 10k Runners blazing past you, that's their race, not yours. You do your walk and have fun and I wouldn't be surprised if you walk a lot faster at the race then what you…
  • Just continue to do what is best for you. Sounds like their comments are an expression of their own issues, not yours. Kill 'em with kindness. "Thanks for your concern." and leave it at that. Don't validate their opinion.
  • Wow, you look healthy and strong, good work!
  • You look awesome! Great work!
  • I am picking up what you are putting down! I wanted to lose 10lbs...did that....so then, I thought, hmm...how about 10% of my starting weight...yep, did that too. Now working on losing 25lbs (4 more to go).... I also set fitness goals, working out 3-4 times a week. completing a 5k training program, running a 5k. Done…
  • You look so happy and joyous in your after pictures, and you totally should! Great work and very inspirational. Good luck with your 5k!
