  • I'm following Keto, so under 25g. don't miss anything - except bananas.
  • I don't have pics, though I should work on that....I love these posts though!! I am 5'8" and, like most women, I am constantly comparing myself to other women. What is interesting about this thread is that it really shows that we are all made so different and even if we are the same height and weight, our body compositions…
  • Yum! I forgot to pack my lunch today...but had an avocado in my drawer...so just had that with some mayo (we always have packets of it hanging around the office) with some salt and pepper! So good. So weird to some people, but I loved it!
  • I like cauliflower and also eat it at least once, but usually 3 times a week. It's filling and I enjoy it (usually roasted with hot pepper and some EVOO, but also like it 'riced'). I have not tried to make a crust out of it, actually have no interest in doing so. I HAVE made the mushroom cap pizzas, also about 1x a week,…
  • Conscious eating...knowing what I ate and how it affected my weight and health, as well as how it made me feel. I started with calorie restriction only. In two weeks I lost 8lbs. Once I felt that portion control was a sustainable habit, I started working out. First strength and body weight workouts, then a couch to 5k. In…
  • Dan, this is similar to what I had for dinner last night! I made chicken alfredo with mushrooms for the family. For me, I steamed a bunch of asparagus and then doused in butter (haven't tried ghee yet), and then, since none of the kids like mushrooms, pulled the 'shrooms from their plates and ate with the asparagus! It was…
  • I'm a newbie, so still learning. I feel like I have only been in ketosis, and not yet given myself the chance to become keto adapted. This is because...i'm still learning and have made mistakes in underestimating or guessing carb contents...plus a weekend pub crawl which ended with mcdonalds!! I started down the low carb…
  • Leighsnow, for me, the first priority is keeping my carbs down. When I first started eating low carb, it was very difficult for me to meet my calorie target and stay below my carb limit (mine is about 20g). As time has gone on I have found that I frequently go over my calorie target, but am still losing consistently, as…
  • I've tried a couple of different brands of it, some more solid then others. I actually like the more liquidy stuff as I find the measurements more accurate. I haven't spilled any on fabric, and unfortunately no granite to worry about in my old kitchen...however, I do find my coffee mug and blender frequently come out of…
  • Hidden carbs are definitely a killer!! It's tough when you eat out, because even when you ask the waitstaff if there's sugar added to a sauce, etc, it's really unlikely that the actually know. This gets me all the time with dressings especially. Do you use the keto stix? I know that my appetite and cravings are greatly…
  • Great post, thanks for sharing! You are an inspiration, you must be so proud of yourself, and SHOULD be!
  • I am working from home today...my husband brought home a dutch apple crunch pie last night, which I didn't have any of last night...nor, do I have any interest in sampling it today, although it's sitting right in front of me on the dinning room table. No cravings.
  • Updates anyone? I am down 31 lbs and currently weigh 169, about 5 lbs less then when I got pregnant with my 3rd and last child. I'm comfortably wearing a size 10 pants and just yesterday got into my "goal" jeans. My ultimate weight goal has always been 165lbs and I'm looking forward to reaching that goal over the next…
  • There is a tracker similar to this in MFP. You can go to the "reports" tab and it will show you the progress of weight or inches lost, based from a 7 day to 1 year timeframe. I go there sometimes when I have a no-loss week and look how far I've come since April (30+ lbs) and then tell myself, OK you are doing this...slow…
  • I am chiming in to second what sljohnson said...do you know how many people would LOVE to claim a 1.5 per week weight loss? I mean, if you can stick to it for a year, you will be OVER your goal. Don't get discouraged...because there is no linear weight loss program. Some week's you'll lose more then 1.5, but other weeks…
  • slipfox, you just pushed too hard, going from sedentary to manual labor, then an intensive climb in lots of gear, during the first month. I think we've all had those moments, where we got through the flu and thought we were golden. Unfortunately, that's not always the case. Good for you for getting right back at it!! Up…
  • Only skipping breakfast when you are hungry is bad. if you are not hungry, then no biggie.
  • I don't buy into the "starvation" mode conspiracy theory, but I do think eating too few calories is not good mostly for the way we feel. For me, I feel like if I don't at least come close to my calorie goals (and that's often the case when I'm real vigilant with my carb intake) then I don't lose at all. As for the main…
  • lghorton, what a great idea!! I miss bananas too, so I am going to try this! I have an extract that I sometimes add to my coffee, but it's just not the same.
  • :D even more reason to celebrate it!
  • I haven't really had any issues, but then I wonder...what is regular, really? I mean, it's like calling someone normal...what really IS normal? I can say I haven't had any changes or issues with my it since going Keto.
  • Such a great feeling right? Just be aware...someone (not me though) is going to inquire if you are drinking enough water and advise you that your stix should never be that dark...because then, they will say, you could not be drinking enough water.... Personally, I like nothing better then purple patches...and I drink at…
  • Oh, I love my avocados actually, and Spinach and cauliflower, but I just can't seem to eat enough of them consistently. I think I may need to start making egg frittatas or muffins with them so they are more portable. I think I probably just need to make more of an effort here and needed to speak it out loud (er, or in this…
  • Crisb2, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your son. Words cannot express any sense of sympathy or comfort. I know that a lot of information has come at you since your post, I think the best being to "stay the course" for more then 10 days and see how your body does with consistency. This is my biggest challenge, as I…
  • Drinking a diet pepsi right now...needed a treat and this hits the spot. But usually only one a week, if that.
  • Welcome Rebeccaker! I think you have to watch both, with the carb count being the priority, keeping it low. Secondary is hitting your calorie goals, which is tough to do when eating low carb. If you let your overall calories drop too low, weight loss can stall AND you will feel crappy.
  • Bald is beautiful...nutrition that causes unwanted beauty...not so much!
  • Sabine, you are a good sister! She seems open to trying programs, so why not jump into Atkins or Primal with your sister? Maybe make it a team activity, or competition, whichever you think may motivate her more. It will be good for the two of you! I can't offer much in the way of where to start, as I am a newbie myself…
  • I had never heard of this before and tried googling it, but didn't come back with a lot of information. That makes me skeptical. Is this a doctor that you were referred to by your primary care doctor or part of a weight loss program that you had to sign up for and are paying extra for? Be careful with those programs, they…
  • I'm feeling a little dizzy and lightheaded myself today, so came back to reread this thread. I drank a cup of broth, ate some fat (avocado), took my multivitamin and potassium supplements and salted the heck out of my lunch. I haven't drank as much water as I ususally, do so have to really focus on that as I'm not feeling…
